Buy them a XB360. It will have an RRoD within a month. Less games playing time for the kids as they wait a month for it to be repaired.

Drivel. absolute drivel. MS fanboy writing an article why Sony will not include BR in PS4. Some posters claiming there is not much difference between DVD and BR - also some the same who boasted about how great HD-DVD was.
Let us get it clear... if you copy a short 1080p film on a BR disk, a CD or a DVD, then the quality will be the same. You will jsut get the full feaut...
I have not regretted my choice of buying the PS2 and the PS3. Will get the PS4 as well. Peter Moore's consoles have a lifespan that RRoD's.
If it is good, then I will get it. Seems like it is good. I am not buying it to compare its water effects.
Have the PS2 motion controller with World Golf from in2games. Plays quite well actually. Will get this on for PS3. Bring it on.
The gaming "review" sites will give MS2 7 and Pure 9. Regardless if MS2 beats it in every aspect. It is PS3 exclusive - so it will get "downgraded" and "faded" scores.
The Wii came from nowehere and took the market by storm. Personally I will get the in2games or other motion controller for the PS3 for those type of games... but the XB360 neither the PS3 will outsell the Wii at the moment. The PS3 may have a chance later in its life - but as we all know - the XB360 will not have a long life - even its lifespan will RRoD like the previous XBox
Actually Thor - the answer is yes they can force it upon you. If the major publishers decide to move to BR and stop releasing on DVD - then you have to move. And as far as I know this is inevitable. Even if only a measure against piracy being the incentive - but they can - and will.
Why do you think the major publishers were so involved with the process of the new standard? They were looking 10 years ahead - not like some fanboys looking at the immediate battle. For the publisher...
For those who have the "budget" XB360 version...
The one without the HD... When a game is patched, can you make use of the patch - or are you forever stuck with the bugs that came with a release of a game. For example - if there was some horrible stuttering in DMC4, and they release a patch for it - can you use it - or are you stuck?
Only a few things matte with the storage medium:
- Storage space
- Transfer speed
The rest is up to the codecs - which is software based. So if they waffle about a smaller disk space but new superfangled coded - then it is kind of stupid - because the new superfangled coded will be available to BR players with a firmware update. If the space is more than BR - but the price is double as well - then what will their push in the market be? PS3 brough BR to the market like...
They will give Pure 9/10 and MS2 7/10
Get ready for it
We will see a new range of excuses to make a PS3 exclusive look bad...
Loved MS. Especially the intro.
Left one a bit darker - maybe too dark. The one on the right I think has a bit more aliasing - which in motion will not be noticable.
Will take either one.
You use the PS3 as a media centre at home. You get extra content for BR online. But DLC will not replace physical media. Think about it - 100 movies of +/- 30GB. Now that would mean a 3TB drive. Now if DLC is going to take over - then you better get at least a TB drive for your XB360. Now it is possible with the PS3 - but not the XB360. So why is it that the supporters of the machine with the least possibility to capatilize on DLC, is the ones who are most vocal about how it will take over? ...
YLOD? Heck... I think most PS3 owners never heard of it before... or the other ones you talk about. Unlike every XB360 owner who live in fear of the RRoD.
You might not like it - but - BR titles will increase because of a few simple reasons:
DRM - publishers like it - more difficult to copy
Not so any copiers - any person with a DVD burner can rip and copy a DVD
Because of this - the potential for better profits for publishers will ensure that they will phase out DVD. The consumer can throw tantrums - in the end the publishers will make the content available on BR only - and the consumer will buy. Simple as that. If you...
I think by reading the article your IQ will drop 10 points.
- The format is out for two years
-- predictions from these analysts said it was dead on arival, was going to be dead due to HD-DVD, that HD-DVD was better quality, and all kinds of subjective waffle.
-- now they have stretched it from dead in one year to dead in 6 years.
DVD will be "good enough"? Wow.
- Macs and PC's are now coming out with BR drives. BR sales rocketed in the la...
When the XB360 with smaller (read more reliable) GPU was released - the buzz was how people planned to try and get the more reliable one when they trade in etc.
With the PS3 it is - oh, a smaller chip, OK, big deal, what are the benefits except for power savings and maybe a slimline. Not the rush to rip it open and check for better reliabiltiy - because except for the very rare false reports of PS3 failing - it is a reliable machine. i would wager that it is most probably the mos...
So the XB360 barely pulls ahead in the US for a month after massive price drop and it is now "going after the Wii"? How stupid can you get? It is trying to - and barely staying ahead of the PS2 and only after price drops overtake the PS3 for a brief period. It is struggling at best at the moment... not going after the Wii. That is marketing spin.
The PS3 migh catch up with the Wii, and only because it will be on the market 3-5 years longer than the Wii. Face it kids... ...
Because the XB360 and PS3 is closed systems... like all consoles. Devs can optimize for the architecture. For PC's it is not so simple.
Personally - I prefer consoles for gaming. Have 4 laptops at home - kids play Sims and Empire Earth on it - but that is about it. Problem with PC's is that you get more problems than enjoyment out of games. Missing drivers, compatibility issues etc. So I can believe this.
I play Haze on the PS3. Good game. Killzone is a different type of game. Enjoy Halo. Seems to have a great following. I will play Haze, Army of Two, COD, R:FOM, R2 and Killzone2. Many good games to play all around. No reason to envy a game on another system and to try and belittle it.
