Demo's and Beta's. Looks great - but we will have to wait for the final game. Loved the first Killzone - regardless of the negative publicity - I still prefer it over games like COD4 - on par with R:FOM for me.
I still maintain - the XBox was created to counter the threat that the PS3 will have to the PC market - Windows / Media Center products. If a PS3 with Linux starts to get traction with entry OpenOffice, media capabilities, then the lucrative home market for Windows is under threat. That is why the XB360 is not offering full media capability without Windows Media Center like the PS3. The money for MS is with Windows - not the XBox360. In order to limit the threat of the PS3 / Linux / Media Cen...
Are there stupids around? The 10 year console cycle from Sony means that they will support the generation hardware for at least 10 years. At any given time there will be two console gens sold at the same time. When the PS4 comes out the PS2 will be dropped, and the PS3 will be supported like the support the PS2 now.
They will release the PS4 5 to 6 years after the launch of the PS3.
And the first Wipeout predated F-Zero by what - 10 years?
Sometimes the downplaying / bashing of PS3 titles at any cost is just downright stupid.
Great news.
Now give us another Jak & Daxter as well. My kids were playing the old PS2 ones this week again.
It will get average 9.9 to 10 from msot sites.
So it will get 7 from Eurogamer, 6 from Kotaku, 7 from 1Up and sister sites, and an 11 from one of the XBox sites.
The Cell is a solid CPU. I think it was very clear from the beginning that Sony is planning to use the Cell in the PS4. Most probably not exactly the same Cell - most probably multiple Cells - which is what the Cell was designed for in the first place. Multiple Cells with a new evolution of the NVidia GPU. Little development cost - easy porting of titles - similar architecture - meaning shorter development cycle for Sony. I mean - what is the mystery here?
The cost of the Cell wi...
Ever since I got my PS2 I liked the controller. Never got used to another controller - and no need to as all the games I want is on the PS3. Don't see what the fuss is all about anyway. The controllers all have two thumbsticks, two pads and shoulder buttons. There is anyway 3rd party controllers for both consoles that mimmick the other console - so if the controller is the issue - then it is not really.
But to *hate* with such language on a controller device? Looks like he is de...
The PS3 was released a year later. It also took a bit longer for devs to start getting the most out of the architecture. Sony should have been better prepared with the SDK's. If they were - then the difference would have been noticable from day one. As it is - only in the third year it will start becoming noticable - and not by much. Only in year four will it become really clear - but it is a little bit late into the console gen. By then we will be really speculating about the PS4 and next XB...
HD-DVD is dead. BR won the HD war. You can not upscale normal DVD to BR quality. You can store a short HD movie on CD or DVD, but you will run out of space. You can not but 50 liters of water in a 9 liter container. Get over it.
Actually... no. Best example is memory sticks. Only cost about 100x the price of optical media... so do the sums.
BR won. End of story.
Have no idea what this game is all about - but the net seems buzzing with news on this game. Will pick this up on Day 0ne just based on the excitement of the people over this game.
Kotaku describes how it is like to live on the moon
Says the cheese sucks
Internet for gaming sucks in South Africa. Don't want to use the bandwidth to download games. I prefer to buy the boxed version. Will pick this one up when it hits the stores.
It is because of tiling and the size of the edram. Fast - but not big enough to handle 1080p. XB360 will be generally better is some resolutions when the edRAM can be leveraged - which mostly is if I remember correctly just a little bit under 720p.
So I expect the comparison had:
- same amount of cars on screen? No? Oops - looks like some fiddling going on.
But with MS2 coming out - who is actually going to buy this game?
BR has won the format war. There is nothing the competition can do about it - except post articles about BR's demise in ten years and boasting how the 0.6% market share of DD is going to kill of BR. Comical.
"Nickel and Dime" model? Rather MS being so desperate that they are willing to throw Billions into trying to get some traction. It is not a Business Model - it is called predatory pricing - and is the typical behaviour of a serial monopolist trying to muscle into another market.
The PS4 will most probably be based around the Cell as well - with multiple PowerPC cores and more SPU's. That would mean less development costs for next gen.
What will be most logical if tehy release a PC add-on drive, that "just happens" to be XB360 compatable. That way they can still pooh pooh the BR add on, while still offering it. But that is unlikely.
So they will most likely release it in the next XBox - and only anounce the BR drive a month before the release - to minimize the damage to XB360 reputation...
