Would like to have the Linux Support better - like starting up and ending Linux easier - not selecting to restart. No biggie - but would be nice. Looks like a steady list of improvements.
@Chewy
Why? Are you guys going nuts? Rushing to sites to click on a score in order to say nyah nyah to other fanboys? The game will be a success. Sites like metacritic will have to explain the low user scores. Maybe even get some system like voting for a game only allowed from a verified game key or something. To keep those who don't own a game from voting.
The way you guys are going on there will be 3 million user votes for a game that sold 10,000 just to kick dust in the ...
Metacritic has a history of leaving out the 10's for PS3 exclusives. But you can only pick so many low scores. Trouble is that there is only so many low reviews that you can pick. And the backfiring of biased reviews on some now-gone "review" sites narrows it down. In the end - pick a site whose reviews you trust. Metacritic will just give you more or less the industry average. If it is to be the "official" yardstick - then it must include the same sites for every game rev...
I am one of the people that enjoy the good technology. But the kids just want to have fun. Now the one machine in my house that gets nearly as much attention than the PS3, is the notebook that I setup for them with MAME. Games like Pacman, Elevator, Galaga, Qix. They love it. It is "cool". The "just one more go" game that defined gaming.
Hey - Sackboy level editors - I want:
- Ant Attack
- Sabre Wulf
- Highway Encounter
- Manic Miner ...
Because of the Vista Flop they can not call it Vista. But it most probably is not much more than a Vista Service Pack. So it should be more stable. But if it flops like Vista did - then MS is in trouble. The problem for them is that XP is entrenched - and developing for a new OS to the exclusion of the biggest slice of the market... well... it just does not make good business sense.
But he is right. And this is not just in gaming. The real hot stuff behind programs that we use are the programmers. And with big companies, they are not recognized as they should be.
I still don't fully understand what this game is about - saw a few movie clips (obviously don't have the beta) but the net seems to be buzzing about LBP.
Looks like a lot of fun for my kids. Will get it Day one if possible.
Eurogamer. PS3 exclusive game 9/10 score. The world must be ending.
Why not go back to CD's for the XB720?
Why then did MS release a HD-DVD addon. Is this an admission that the HD-DVD strategy was wrong as well? You can't have it both ways.
1) Watch SD content on an HD-TV
2) Watch a compressed 1GB file in 1080p with artifacts, color compression and lossy audio
Simply put - the content providers care about BR. And they will make the content available more and more on BR. With HD-TV sales increasing, so will the BR sales increase. Except of course if SD TV sales will resurge and kill HD TV sales - which will mean 480p for everyone.
Posting something like this as news...
Get over it. MS will have BR in the next XBox. They will only announce it a month before the launch. They are not going to loose face this gen by adding a BR and concede that Sony was right. The XB360 sales is good enough as it is. Why add a BR and create the possible FUD opening for competitors to hint at some content will be on BR and not playable on the previous XB360 models. Even though it will not happen - the market seems to like being confused by such hints.
BR sales are up, DD is down... so the market analysis is in...
The XB360 without the hd, is going to kill BR with dd.
BR making inroads... as result many BR haters downplay it. One of 100 similar "articles" and blogs trying to tell the consumer that he bought his HD TV to watch SD content.
1. You buy a HD TV so you can watch SD content... O..K..
2. Thy push digital downloads, but the entry console don't have a HD... O..K..
3. They push digital downloads, but they limit the size of the downloads... O..K..
4. The trumpet that dd is taking over, but it has 0.6% market share
5. The claimed the slower, smaller HD-DVD was somehow a "better value proposition"
Yeah OK... they have me convinced... not
Good analysis there bud. This article decided that R2 had to be downplayed before they started writing. The contradictions is just wildly stupid...
It is strange that the style the article was written. Not about reviewing R2 - from the start it was clear that it is a R2 bashing - in the opening statement. Not the "Let us find out how it plays" - straight into "it is a waste of time". Asif the author was afraid that he would not get the message through.
They want HD-DVD. It is a "better value proposition" to the customer. MS said so. Just a pity BR killed it in the meantime.
The stuff people will belief...
I tested DVR's a number of times (not the home DVR's) the real stuff. I created my own test patterns to check the video quality - for example - take a color map - with a very slow progression from light blue to slightly darker blue.
Take text in different sizes, diagonal, horizontal, 30 degrees etc. Now suddenly - you see artifacts surrounding your text on the pretender equipment. You see the sudden "stepping" of the color - because...
The first KZ was a great game. For me it was better than COD4. KZ2 looks amazing. Don't understand the BS about the first KZ being "bad". I think those statements are by people who did not play it.
25 emplyees does not mean only 25 people worked on the game. Much could be outsourced - like some artwork, some specialized physics coding etc.
