Theres absolutely no question that NPD numbers are far more accurate than VGC. They are based on figures from a far larger sample of retailers and have proved over time to be extremely accurate which is why the industry uses that service.
VGC on the otherhand, uses a very small statistical sample and whilst I would commend it for offering data for free, it has shown its figures are consistantly innaccurate and and much more useful for tracking 'trends' rather than real figures....
Old news - these sales figures don't take into account the recent large increase. A lot of Japs waited for the new white model at the cheaper price, and we now know its sold exceptionally well, and I suspect will continue to sell well.
Having only played the demo and thinking 'WTF is this?' I was rather hoping they would fix it or make it more interesting or at least make the cars able to turn without immediately leaving the road.
Looks like they didnt' fix anything and this game is just a shiney turd!
Never mind - there's plenty of GOOD racing games.
Wow! The fanboys from both camps are out in full force again arguing over nothing!
This isn't even a story.
Sony claim to have sold well in the first two weeks of November, and I'm sure they probably have.
To point out that figures for October will obviously not reflect this, is obvious and not worthy of story.
Its certainly not worthy of a fight, and I do find it pathetic that so many use any excuse to trot out the same blind arguments ove...
To be fair - this story is a duplicate.

Certainly plenty to keep me entertained!
That was one of the most boring interviews I've ever read. It seemed like politician rehashing carefully prepared statements and gave us absolutely no insight into anything at all. It was merely another excuse to restate the companies PR offensive.
I have no problem with the 360, I own and play one a lot. However, it is going to be interesting to see how MS reacts to the PS3 starting to find it feet, and that was plainly what the interviewer wanted to know about and didn't get....
This game was hacked and on the net a couple of days ago. So I've had a chance to play. Believe the hype. If this style of game interests you at all, then you owe it to yourself to play this game.
I thought Halo 3 was overated, and even the mighty bioshock had issues, but so far, this has to be my game of the year - even though I have a preference for my PS3. Absolutely awesome and epic in scope. Foe once, believe the hype.
I must say though - switch of the stupid 'film ...
They are so quick to crow about other numbers, so their silence speaks volumes on sales of hardware.
They obviously are not selling any.
They didn't 'bribe' people into the format with 'less than cost' players in Europe, so there is no format momentum here at all. With BR titles outselling HDDVD by about 5 to 1 in europe, and every indication that this figure is increasing, its quite obvious that the 'war' is well and trully over everywhere else except the US. Th...
I genuinely believe that the price cut/new model is responsable for most of the PS3 sales.
DW6 is also on the 360, but despite there still being an increase in demand left over from Ace Combat 6, sales of 360 have started to drop back to its normal levels - and the DW6 title doesn't appear to be driving sales of that platform....
Thats good PS3 hardware numbers! I wander if this 'spike' can be retained now in Japan? I think theres indications that it can be, as a large number of the most anticpated titles in Japan are PS3 titles.
Given America's seeming love affair with the 360 in its home market, the Ps3 needs to score big in Japan and consilidate its lead in europe to continue to attract prime developement. There is every indication that this is exactly what will happen, and the market will be split U...
The game is trully an excellent next gen title.
If you take it for what it is, rather than what yout think it is, its a great experience.
The problem with any game thats had as much hype as this one, is that it becomes a victim of its own expectations. Essentially this is pretty linear game, not an open world 'sandbox' and this has led to lots of people being disapointed. But play it with an open mind and forget expectations, and you will find an enjoyable game thats tru...
Given what other reviewers are syaing, it looks like the original review was being really harsh on the PS3 version. I guess IGN would say that they have changed the review to reflect the 'reality' of the situation and be more accurate.
I suspect thats the case, as if there trully were major issues with the PS3 version, they wouldn't have an issue reporting it, as they have done so for many sub-standard conversions in the past...
Yup - totally pointless article given that we know the new PS3 sold between 36K and 50K on day one, as has already been reported here.
I did report the story while it was waiting for approval of course, but these things have a habbit of being approved anyway, even if they are pointless! :)
Weather you like the game or not - its an important release for anyone who understands, or is interested, in the games buisness. Initial figures from Japan show that this title has shifted more units in its first few days than the new Super Mario game and is responsable for shifting hardware units.
Though the differences are certianly minimal, its looking like the trend for shabby PS3 ports is starting to get reversed, and looks like in time maybe PS3 may be the better port for...
I guess the more codec's they include the better, but I assume most people who want to watch various video formats are acessing them via a mediaserver from their PC anyway? If you're using something like TVersity, it converts any codec into PS3 data on the fly, so I simply browse the 2 Terrbytes of files I have on my Pc network and watch or listen or view anything regardless of its format.
As I said, its no bad thing, but it doesn't make a huge difference to me! :)
Pretty desparate attempt to make the figures look good!
When they want to talk hardware, they don't include ga,es machines, cause the numbers look overwhelmingly bad, but if they want to make attachement rates look good, they include games machines as that helps the numbers look better :) Its the worst kind of spin, and it really won't fool anyone except the trully gulable! :)
Given that 12000 units is a normal weeks sales, I'd say that over 30K in one day is a really good response.
I note that the article is written by GamerTm, and though I normally don't like to call 'bias' every time someone puts a spin on a story, I have to say that this particular publication has shown its colours on a number of occasions and loves to PS3 bash. Whatever - its seems to be selling just fine.
Well, well - another troll convention! Who would have thought it! :)
Well, I guess I can see why Ps3 diehards are so pleased. Theres no question that 360 trolls have been crowing about GOW and 'how the PS3 could not technically do it' for ages, and GOW has been held up as the benchmark for the greatest graphics on a 360 game (though cod4 may be the new king).
Well now the engine has been developed for the PS3, and the results are spectacular. It doesn't prove any...
This was survey of popular TOYs.
Whilst I can understand the Wii being viewed as a toy, it will be no suprise to anyone that the other consoles are not seen as toys.....
