Sorry Bloodmask, but your understanding of games hardware is incredibly simplistic and totally PC-centric - and its worth dispelling the myths you purport with such fervour.

Its quite possible to have hardware that doesn't have any GPU at all that could run rings around all the consoles. Given a CPU that had plenty of power and cores available, it can happily do all the matrix transformations and shader computations on the CPU, without needing to offset this computation to the ...

Early days - but sales for PS3 are pretty robust and likely to reamin so in Europe.

I'll be more interested in seeing the figures for Novemeber, when the machines are selling for christamas and the all the price fluctations and spikes have settled. I'll also be more interested in NPD numbers as VGChartz are ok for spotting trends but have proven pretty inaccurate when looking at specific figures.

The DS and WII gravy train keeps rolling on for nintendo...

Yes mate - dialougue is the very essence of the game. First and foremost this game is a story and all that talking is the very soul of the game. Its done very well, and the voice acting is good and the characters are better developed than many you will find in a video game. If you want to buy it for the 'action gun touting' scenes - don't!
The gun play is servicable, but seriously flawed if you were to compare it to any FPS - seriously. Theres great deal more inventory management requi...

Haha! How pathetic is that vitrilioc reply???

My post was actually very complimentary about a game I really enjoy.
Not that it should matter, but I'm actually a 44 year old game developer who's been making games for 16 years and has owned and played just about everything since gaming was invented. That includes all biowares previous efforts - Jade Empire is one of my favourite xbox 1 games.

I think its pretty obvious who a kid around here.. :)

It is amusing how so many people leap to the defence of a game that they probably haven't played! :)

I've been playing this for 5 days now - and I've gone from 'this is the best thing I've ever played' to 'OK, its seriously flawed, but still beutiful'.

I do love this title and think its clearly an 8.5 or even a 9 title.
But harsh though it is, every single thing the guy says in his review is totally true. As sublime as the converstation system is, in almos...

Geez the guy speaks twaddle, but I expect at a 5 year celebration you'd expect him to bash any competition. Xbox live is a great service and I'm happy to hear him extoll its virtues. But to claim that PSN is not even a service ought to be beneath him.
Its hurts to approve such nonsense, but I will anyway...

It Is fair comment.
I've been playing the baby for more than 40 hours now and I do love it to bits, but it is not without its faults. If you are playing primarily as an RPG, then this is about as good as it gets, and I've never been quite as immersed in a game as I have been with this - and I play a lot of RPG's.
Its the action that will annoy some, particularly those that wish to play it as a shooter. The Ai is simply weak. Add to that a few glitches that should have been pick...

If there a new 'fix firmware for the PS3, its to fix the occasional issues people have with the 'ticker' when people are connected on a slow network. It will have nothing to do with Assassins Creed. That games problems are due to poor coding on any platform - I play this one on the 360 and freezes on that platform, its got nothing to do firmware.

Sad as it is... many people used Jades 'appeal' to get more coverage than they would have achieved without her. It WAS getting to the point where whe was attracting as much coverage as the game, and ubi helped to encourage that.
There was nothing wrong with her being the face of the game, she was well qualified to be so, and its notmal to have the producer talk to the press about the product.

But when the coverage about her becomes almost as much as the game, theres some...

Mine has frozen twice on the 360.
Its not a machine specific fault - its bad programing.

5.6 million in its first year is good. Given the expense, poor multi platform conversions, the wait for plenty of great games and the fact that it has the 360 and the Wii for competition, it compares favourably with the 360 - which sold 6 million with no competition in its first year.
I still expect this machine to have the largest installed base by the end of this generation - as its best is definately still to come.

I rather think rare has lost what made it special. I hope I'm wrong,
but kameo, Perfect Dark - the pinyata games, they're all pretty forgettable.
I hope they can recover and produce a Banjo 3 thats really special, but many good developers fail to produce when they are absorbed by a huge cooperation, and it looks like thats what happenign at Rare. If this turns out to be the case - it would be a huge shame.

I'm not too sure about Microsofts startagey here - their m...

Nothing is too low for the margetting geeks at that company. I know, I worked there (or more accurately worked for a dev company that was taken over by EA.)

@Gina-get-u -
Reasonable points mate.
But I have to disagree with you on a couple of things. Infograms and ubisoft are french developers and are by anyones reckoning huge companies - and there has been an explosion in PS3 sales for that country. That IS significant.

...and good as the figures for 360 are, they are still significantly down. Given that we are currently seeing all the aces that Microsoft have got (all their big guns have pretty much launched), and th...

It will be an interesting time for the consoles fortunes thats for sure.

It looks like nothing can stop the nintendo juggernaught.

Whilst things are still looking good for MS in the states, the margins are closing and the PS3 is starting to gain momentum.

Its the rest of the world that MS needs to keep a close eye on, as indications in the last couple of weeks are that the PS3 is now handilly outselling the 360 in other territories.

This is one of the stupidest pieces of drivel I've ever read on this site!! :)

If you do know anyone in the industry, its a janitor or recptionist!

I've been a game developer for over 15 years now, and though opinion is divided, there are many who are enthused by the untapped power of the PS3 architecture, and are hopeful they get the chance to learn how to tap that power more effectively. Others are more lazy, and don't wnat to rewrite their much cherished PC su...

"Kevin Hell, Divx, Inc.’s CEO said that Microsoft has more restrictions and requirements surrounding any software that runs on it’s Xbox 360 than Sony with it’s Playstation 3, so the Xbox 360 Divx project is on a lot slower pace compared to it’s Playstation 3 brother"

..Or in other words. We've only just learned that its coming for PS3, so we've only just started to copy the move!

I like the 360, and love playing its games, but I would be far happier to...
