I've never enjoyed Sony adds for their playstation brand. This one is no different from the rest - arty nonsense. The US add was a move in the right direction though...shame we don't get that over here.
I have to admit I have a soft spot for DW games too. Mindless button bashing mayhem at its finest!
I prefer being a smaurai and hacking my way through legions of foes, to running around yet another WW2 battlefield with a gun looking for a head shot! But then I was raised on a diet of Jap games, so its bound to have a left a mark on me! :)
I'm not saying it didn't help to shift units - plainly it did.
I AM suggesting that it wasn't solely responsable for shifting units - if that was the only thing shifting PS3's then you could have expected to see an upsurge for the 360 too, like when Ace Combat was released. It was released on 360 same day, but you didn't see many japs buying that machine to play it on!
The reason, is because many people in japan wanted the new lower priced PS3 skew to mark its annivers...
Much as I appreciate the draw Dynasty Warriors has in that region, to suggest that's the only reason for the sales increase is utter stupidity!!
There's the small matter of a new skew, in white, at a lower cost, and with shock controllers too. I think that might have something to do with the figures as well.... :)
Its a little glitchy, but still serviceable and fun for the main part!! :)
If it were an FPS title, you could be critical, but its great for an RPG...
Its the technical glitches and the lacklustre side quests that leave it open to critiscm in my opinion, but I do love it anyway and I'm just about to finish it for the first time. Its rare I play a game through more than once, but I'll make an exception this time.
Having been a paragon soldier this time, I fancy playing it ...
I couldn't agree more with this review. I played this the other day and its was terribly dissapointing. Don't bother with it.
As soon as I new EA were doing the PS3 port I knew it would be terrible - and conspiracy theorists would argue that Gabe Newall deliberately gave the PS3 port to one developer that has consistantly proven thay can't code for it, just to validate his blinkered view.
This is the dev house who has consistently proved it doesn't have what it takes to approach new hardware without spending a couple of years on internal re-arrangement, and re-recruiting, first. Pathetic, and I should know as...
Worth pointing out that some of the downloadable things that have been available on the 360 live service for a while - like the 'knights of the nine', are already included in the PS3 version of the game.
Whilst its great for PS3 owners to finally get thir hands on the Shivering isle add -on it also has ramifications for further products like fallout 3 - as Bethedusa had experienced problems bring downloadable content to the PSN in the past.
Glad they finally got it all w...
Notable how sound doesn't even get a metion in this article - yet is a essential component in recreating the home theatre experience.
I'm pleased with this. I didn't want ot buy another version of the game just to get the shivering isles pack!
I may have approved the story but I must heartilly disagree with the review.
This is one of the most derevitive titles I have played on 360. For an audience with games such as GOW, COd4 and Halo 3 to play, a game needs to be miles better than this to make the grade.
A special note needs to go to the cheesy voice overs, there may be a market for this cheese amoung american teenagers, but the rest of us should just be embaressed for this kind of output! All my two...
I guess its a moot point for me as I bought one at launch and have all the 'features', but I really don't see a problem with the 40 gig feature set!
Much as I thought I'd play PS2 games on it, I don't, and neither does anyone else I know who has the console, so I can't see the issue.
I've never used more than 2 of my usb ports at once (eyetoy in one and charging controller in the other) and I used the mem card reader just once. Now that I use the media centre properly, ...
I think you've got it spot on - theres not been that many 'must have' titles on that machine! It's only mario thats managed to remove the dust from mine... :) Maybe thats because I have the other two. and theres been so many good titles on them. I'm also a tech whore, so SD just doesn't get me as excited..
Impressive stuff for the PS3 in its home territory.
For some time now, the most anticpated titles in Japan have been PS3 ones, and I wandered when that would translate to hardware sales. Looks like thats now...
Whilst I can see a small dip in the coming months, some of the best titles for the PS3 in that market are still to come, so the PS3 looks like its finally established in this territory and may even shift more untis per week when the real heavy hitters start to arr...
@MK_Red
The obvious answer is, that in their opinion, they think they are better games.
I'm not agreeing with their scores! I've read that magazine since issue 1 and have always had a problem with their scores - I remeber how p**ssed off I was with their review of Tempest 2000 on the Jag for instance :). But they are consistent in what they do and don't like, and I believe they have every right to call it as they see fit.
Its certainly not a cheap ...
I'm not hugely suprised.
Edge is notoriously critical, and much as I love it, Mass Effect has some seriously rough edges that WILL be a turn off for many people.
Issues I have noted include: Textures that take a while to load and 'pop' in, stuttering frame rates, poor Friend AI and several game stopping glitches that mean you have to switch off and restart. Add this to some pretty repetitive side quests and 'simple simon' button pressing game to do everything from 'surv...
I guess the word 'disapointing' is the clue here, as these plainly are not the worst titles by any stretch of the imagaination, these titles simply didn't didn't live up to exagerated expectations.
I have to agree with Perfect Dark - it promised so much and delivered so little!
I actually thought prey was really good! :)
If you want the worst games, then there's a large selection contending for selection, including Pinyata party animals, Pimp My Ri...
We've had these for a couple of weeks already in the UK. Unusual for us to get something earlier than you guys in the US! :)
Not exactly stunning pieces of software, but you can't complain for the price!
Wow! These look real good. If the game has the kind of next gen crash dynamics they've been promising, then I'm sold! :)
Another weak blog post - devoid of real news or insight and simply serving to stoke up the same old trolls flaming each other again.
I don't understand why these 'blogcasts' get approved? They simply get in the way of the news - they certainly don't add anything of worth.
Ho hum! I guess I'll just put on my flame retardant suit, sit back with a bag of popcorn and watch the show.... <sigh>
