OK its not a contender for best looker of the year, but from the description I thought I was going to see a mess. Instead I got pretty decent looking RPG. It's not going to turn heads next to White Knight Story, but it looks fine, and trolls bleating on about PS2's are delusional. I've been a games artist for 15 years and know a mess when I see one - this isn't.
I'm sure I'll enjoy this one, I do rather like a decent RPG after all!
The only concern for me is the multiple...
OOPS! MS should tread very lightly around this one! :)
Much as I love my 360, anyone who's unbiased would have to acknolowedge that Sony are are a great innovative electronic manufacturer.
Over the years I've owned many sony products from the original Wlakman Pro, sony TV's, in car audio as well as gaming devices, and they have always been well made and reliable items that have performed excellently.
The same is true of the PS3. This year I've played more brilliant games on the 360 than my PS3, but the PS3 has been ...
Not cheap, but easilly worth the extra investment.
I just got an x3500 (xbr4 in the U.S.) and its without a doubt the best quality LCD picture you can currently buy. Sony TV's have a habbit of lasting for a very long time too,(had my last one for 10+ years) so you'll get your money's worth! :)
That the 360 has sold more games per unit in all territories is to be applauded, but there ARE several factors that are too big to be ignored when considering numbers..
The fact that it has been out twice as long as the competitive products does make a big difference. If you've had a machine for two years you are likely to have bought more games for it than for a machine you have owned for one year. I've had a PS2 for 7 years and have no doubt bought 60 + titles for it, length o...
@Miller
I'm delieghted that 1080i output is sufficient for your needs, but please don't try to suggest that 1080i is as good as 1080P on a 1080P Tv set. I do understand your argument about 1080P sets buffering each interlaced frame and outputting a full 1080P signal, but the fact remains, that for each frame of a movie being decoded, you are only recieveing half the information that should be available from a 1080P device. To try and pretend that doesn't matter is like trying t...
It's not exactly anti-spanish, is it??!
Anyone taking offense at such an innocent jibe would seriously be a nerd!
You can't help smilling when watching this title play. Its appeal is almost universal and its the first of what I expect to be lots of 'user content' games. Surely we all we want to have a go at being creative, but the tools for playing have never been so accessable and fun!
If you aren't intrigued and fascinated by the promise of this title, then surely you can't be a gamer?? :)
This will be huge!
Hmmm.. Looks like they have sorted out the aliasing issues then!
Looks much better than the last batch of shots I saw, maybe the PS3 port won't be so poor after all?
I didn't rate the game that much on 360 though, so I can't say I'm hugely excited! But for those that didn't get a chance, at least it has all the downloadable content included - not much of a bonus for waiting so long, but nice anyway! :)
Nice to see these packs!!
I still find it incredible that people charge for themes on Xbox live...
Though I conceed the conclusion is probably true, its a bady written article with some pretty dodgy reasoning.
Don't really see this as being informative, just a another reason for the trolls to throw mud at each other!! :)
@ marionz
Lie? Why on earth would I lie about a freeze on my game, on my games system?
Unlike the majority of the geeks on this site, I have all the systems and I am games player who gets his fun where ever I can. I'm also a games developer and I've made a living from this industry for over 15 years now, which probably explains my unhealthy compulsive interest in it.
I have never posted anything on this site that is not absolutely my true understanding, and would ...
Its amazing just US-centric most posters are in here! The sales ratio is constantly quoted as being 2 to 1, but that only true in the US.
Whilst the US is a big and importnat market, its not the only one that counts. In Europe the ratio is about 5 to 1 and rising, and HD DVD hardly sells in Japan at all. China will be an interesting market.
2 to 1 looks pretty bad for HD DVD, but I'm afraid its actually worse than that if you expand your horizons beyond the US.
@Joefw
Sorry mate, you might be right. My 360 is an original (albeit repaired twice), and I use the HD cables supplied with the system. It may well be different if you have a hdmi machine, or purchase a vga connection.
All I know is I was not impressed with the quality and the professional reviews I've read have reinforced that view.... but 1080P would be at least an improvement.
Yes its limited to 1080i, which is a big shame. If you've got a decent set (and I have), then 1080P is miles better.
Its not my machine mate - I've 100+ other 360 titles that play perfectly :)
Also , as I think someone has stated below, you can easily do a search on utube to see 360 issues if thats your thing, though having experienced them first hand, I' haven't actually looked!
I think they both look dreadful to be honest, and the lighting system will need a lot of work if this is representitive of what its currently doing.
As a games artist myself for over 15 years, I'm not too concerned as I have personally tweaked lighting in many games right up till the final submission, so they have plenty of time to get it right. Having recently been offered a contract to finish the environments on this particular title, I'm well aware that the assets for all the levels...
No mate its not true at all. If you want to get one - do it because you want the titles on HD dvd. If you had to say if the 360 add on drive can beat a PS3 for picture quality, you only have to look at the profesional reviews of the devices - it simply doesn't. I'm talking those boxes, not comparing the format.
I wasn't aware that you could plug this into a PC? I would certainly get around the issue of the 360's intrusive noise levels for film watching, but I'd be careful if yo...
I doubt we'll see it - but I'll keep my fingers crossed, just in case! :)
Wow. I'm no fanbot, but it really is nice to something starting to use the PS3's architecture to the full. I don't believe there's another machine that could run a title like this at all, never mind at 1080P 60fps. Stunned and can't wait to play it. This is a good system seller, and sony should market this properly to get the full bennifit from such a landmark title.
