We've not seen anything to suggest this is going to be anything special so far. A game's developer is supposed to ethuse about the potential of the product, thats the job!

I sincerley hope its every bit as good as this rather lame article tries to suggest! I'm certain I'll pick up the 360 version of it and I want it to be great!:)
But so far, theres nothing to see, other than some year old screen shots that are simply not impressive. I'm not buying into the hype before t...

Sheesh... you'll get one free in a cereal box soon! Do these prices strike anyone as deperate at all?

I've always wandered who's daft enough to commit to a HD format by only having a 1080i machine? I know its very cheap, but the fact is, the media is NOT cheap. If want to pay 2x the price of a dvd, then surely you are doing it to get the very best quality? Why do it for half the picture?

Poor reviews and poor sales have destroyed this genre for modern consoles.
Every shmup ever recently released in the west was always blighted by a critic shouting 'I've seen it before' and 'we don't want this old school stuff any more'. The Japs have always been a little more pragmatic, and don't mind seeing a good genre redone over and over, hence more of this type of game still being released in Japan.

As a real old school gamer I still love this type of game and its a...

There's few people who've played this game for any time who don't enthuse about it.
It had a great single player campaign, which is becoming rare in a shooter, and also delievered in Multiplayer. To this day, its still hard to find other games that can have 32 player death matches...

After being disapointed with Halo 3's campaign I went back and played this title again to remind myself how good a campaign can be...

Bearing in mind this title was a launch ...

I enjoyed the review and thought it was pretty fair. For the large demo it is, it needs to be half the price they are charging. At this price it deserves to be marked as a full game and the unfinished features mean that 81% is actually a pretty high score.

I have admit, all the guys credability went out the window for me, when he compared it with the 'depth of Ridge Racer 7'. I mean, I like the Ridge Racer games, but to mention it in the same breath as GT is sacrillage to me! :...

Sorry mate - but it really is a terrible game.

I was fan of these titles on the PS2 version and expected big things for this. But thgey have simply recreated the old PS2 game in HD. There is absolutely no gameplay improvement at all and the whole thing feels distinctly last gen when you are playing. I base this view on the demo I downloaded on the PSN of course, but theres nothing to suggest the game will have been radically overhauled for the full release.

What an utterly pathetic article!

The guys complaint about a feature that even Sony didn't bother making a big deal off, is that he has to leave his PS3 on at home in order to acess the game when he's out. But this isn't true.

He obvioiusly didn't realise that the last firmware update on PS3 gave you the option to power on/off your PS3 remotely. At the time, I remember a whole slew of people moaning about why would they need this feature. Well here's one very goo...

These com parison videos are absolutely useless and are just flame bait for trolls!

How any of you think you can judge a games looks, in minute detail, from a lower res compressed codek version of the game, taken from some arbitary adjusted vdeo output - it just beggers belief!

If you want to see what the game looks like download a HD trailer on your machine of choice. I downloaded the one on the PSN network last night and its amazing compared with this rubbish m...

Its an utter disgrace that content that should be unlockable is being charged for. A total rip off.

I completed this game and unlocked - nothing, except a mode where I could restart with what I earnt already. This content should have been included with the game.

There is now a huge precident set, where a game developer 'keeps things back' from the games release simply so they can charge more money for them as a download later. Whilst the format is excusable for g...

I agree. It unlikely they will chose either 'side' Why create enemies by being seen as the company that killed off a format? Why restrict your customer base when your already set up to sell to both camps?

Theres every reason to believe that HD DVD will naturally die off in the near future anyway, as it almost gone in europe, never started in Japan, and the sales ratio's are consistantly worsening in the US which is its strongest market.
No point in making corporate 'enem...

For many people Vista IS a huge disapointment.
If you're machine is merely used for playing with media and surffing the net and playing the odd game, then Vista may be an attractive package as long as your machine runs it smoothly.

However, many peoples machines, like mine, are working machines where performance counts. I do a lot of high end rendering and production on all my machines, and vista is a sure way of making a 2 hour computational run take over three hours. ...

Sweet deal, and its correct to say it has been offered in many places to stimulate the sales of the 1080P sets.
Its normally only the official stockists that get these deals though, so its not that sweet. I saved £500 on Sony price on my recent LCD by internet buying, so even a good freebie would not have swayed my purchase decision.
Still, it makes sense. Everyone who's seen my 1080P LCD with a qulaity 1080P source, like the PS3, has immediately wanted one, and I'm sure it...

I rather liked earlier itterations of this title and looked forward to seeing how they had brought it to the new generation of machines.
I shouldn't have bothered, its exactly the same as the last gen versions of the game. but in HD. Very poor, weather it meets the stated specs or not...

Oh dear. Back to your flamebait tactics again I see.

At what point did you think that a blanket statement of 360 superiority would be useful, or even relevant to the topic you posted in?

I'm glad both machines have increased support for movie playback. In terms of Divx though, its obvious that having fully certified support is superior to not having it fully certified. That's a no-brainer.
It doesn't mean any one machine is better than another, but divx s...

What are you talking about?

Blu ray 1.1 compatability?
Full native Divx support?
An extra music visualiser?
A voice changer?

How many more useful upgrades can you ask from a small update?
The fact that it also closes a security loophole was not even mentioned.

This myth that sony should let people hack on the PS3 with impunitty and that will get more people to buy into the console is a complete fallicy.
Allowing a real exploit, like they stupidly did with FW 1.5 for the psp, would be a disaster for Sony. Ever wander why the psp has sold so well, but software sales are so slow? Its beacuse its very easy to flash your psp with a hacked firmware that lets it play pirated games. The traffic in pirated psp software on the net is huge, and this tr...

I just want to congratualte you on making useful posts and valid observations. There's no question you can make a very valid contributuion to the site when you are not involved with troll baiting. Even you must be saddened by the fanboy slagging matches that blight every thread, so thank you for choosing not to respond in type to some of the rubbish posted in this thread!

You could be right. :)
But it takes a while for a machine to reach the shop floor from production, and it was only a couple of weeks ago that there were so many stories of 'there will be no Wii's the Xmas'.
Why didn't Nintendo say there was large batch that would be here before xmas?
Whatever, sales will be huge and lot of kids will happy :)

No- you are not the only one. I will be more than pleased if it does end up being good, but at the moment it looks like a generic shooter and I've got a million of them on my 360 (and PS3) already.

There are much more eciting titles coming in the next few months, and I rather suspect anyone expecting Haze to be a revelation will be sorely disappointed.

LBP is a title to get excited about - that is genuinely fun, genuinely inovatitive and definately proper next ge...

Well theres certainly no shortage of machines in the UK at the moment, you can get them almost everywhere, and as a result any for sale on ebay are either not being sold or going at the retail price.

I think it pretty obvious that the shortages were played up to stimulate demand - its an age old technique used by all the toy manufactures!

Demand is strong for this machine anyway, you wander why they bother?

Maybe the shortages were for real and Ni...
