Whilst I am as excited about a fresh Gears as any other 360 owner, it pointless to say 'The 360 08 lineup sure is getting "bigger"' as it plainly didn't.
Everyone expected GOW2 and everyone expected Fable 2, and everyone expected Ninja Gaiden 2. These are the games that have been touted as the big hitters for the 360 this year. So the lineup hasn't grown at all.
I think when the (correct) excitement for Gears and Fable dies down, people will see this ke...
At least they showed GOW2 clip and stated November for it, but I can't help but feel I wanted more.
Still Somethign to look forward to.
As far as the GDC announcement go, here was nothing - GOW2 and Fable 2 were expected and will be great, but there was nothing else at all! No price cuts, no new exclusives or deals or IP's. What are MS playing at? They need to counter Sony's recent gains....
erm.. this is a tech demo of the unreal engine in its current state for 360. It looks great, but GOW2 was not mentioned and the developer left the stage without announcing it. To claim this demo is 'GOW2' is wrong.
Ok - too many hits now the page dies...
Before it went, epic had left the stage? Though its nice to show well the unreal engine has come on, I would have expected GOW2 to be announced at that point?
Heres hoping the page comes back up!
Heavily compressed lower res material that you have to wait for and can't take round your mates is not even the same league as a blu ray disc, even if the distribution channel were more widely available.
Whilst I happilly conceede that digital distribution will be the norm at some time in the future, that time is a long way off, and in the meantime, the assertion that live downloads are a replacement for HD DVD is simply damage control.
Seems like Silicon Knight's made a mistake ditching the unreal engine... but I guess we'll see in the final product.
I've got a feeling this game is gonna be a bit too pretentious for me, but I am attracted to this style of game, so I'm hoping for the best!! :)
You just don't get it do you?
Trends are what is important here. Plot their sales figures on a graph and you can clearly see the trend for 360 sales is falling, while the trend for PS3 sales is rising. There no way at all that these trends are simply going to level out, and indications are that the PS3 sales curve will increase as some of the real heavy hitters start to arrive and the average consumer realizes there's only one HD format.
Given this, the figure of...
no way was this ever anything than sabre rattling and wishful thinking.
I've just noticed they've made the long expected announcement that shows this article is complete bunk....
Yeah - right. If you loved games at all, you'd know damn well that there's tons of other great games well worth having the system for.
Any real games player needs all the systems, but if you want to pretend there's just two titles, and that having an install on 2 games out of 285 is a real issue for you - well then thats your look out, and its you who are missing out.
I have to agree - I got this a couple of days agao, and its a pretty poor game on 360. Stick with the PC one for a much better experience..
An article from a Microsoft site? Are we supposed to believe this is an unbiased assesment of the facts... it was horribly biased!!
As with almost any US based site, it simply concerned itself with the US, as if the rest of the world did not exist!
If you simply look at US figures, the futuire is indeed still rosy for the 360 even if the PS3 is improving. Its only by opening your eyes to the worldwide market that you get a real picture of where this gen seems to be moving.
I can't think of anything worse than a GH game with only aerosmith music. For me, they represent everything that is wrong with cheesy US rock music, and this will be the first game in the series that I will definately NOT buy.
I sincerley hope this is not the beggining of a trend, and activision starts to remember its the diversity of the music in these titles that makes them fun...
World wide attach rates for the week, based on these figures:
PS3 9.4%
360 8.9%
Wii 8.7%
Thats the 11th week in a row that PS3 attach rates have been higher. I've not looked at weeks before that.
Doesn't prove anything except that those who routinely say PS3 owners don't buy games are simply lying, as they plainly buy more titles each week than owners of other machines.
Of course I'll get disagrees as always from those ...
Well - I can't dispute that the wii continues to dominate sales.
But sales have never been and indicator of quality mechandise to me. If it were, then I'd have to acknowledge 'take that' to be a musically talented band because of the amount of records they sell, rather than the lame well marketed bunch of talentless geeks they actually are.
Take a motoring example: A car like a Fiat Panda will sell 1000's of times more units each year than a ferrari, but as a dri...
Well - this is indeed a trun of events. The UK was really the last stronghold for the 360 in europe and I didn't expect it to fall quite so soon, maybe because I look at so many VGchartz numbers posted on here!:)
Chart track numbers however, should not be disputed they are the universally recognised official sales numbers for the UK and ireland, much like NPD is seen as the definitive source for Us sales, so chart track is the official source for the UK.
Please note, I'm not dis...
Wow - you ARE a selective reader.
Did you not see in another post today that PS3 has sold over a million units in the UK alone? Thats faster than the PS2 took to reach a million, and for that matter faster than the 360 took.
Or do you simply ignore figures that don't fit your skewed viewpoint??
Even you must acknowledge that you don't know everyone in the UK? :)
At least theres over a million people you don't know...:)
Do you people not even understand the concept of what an average is???
As long as there is a reasonabley large number of titles to sample, and in this case there is, then an average is perfectly acceptable way to compare scores, even if there was a million titles on one platform. :)
Thats why people use averages..its what they are for! Talking about how many titles the machines have is irelevant!!! WAKE UP!!!
Your reply is nonsensical and clearly demonstrates that you didn't even bother to read the article before you replied. He clearly goes on to compare the top 10% of each platforms titles too.. which you'd know if you bothered reading the story.
As far as I can see there are two main points I will personally take from this article:
1) In general reviewers agree with my own experience, that the bulk of titles released on the Wii have been utter drivel. I've never kn...
Sorry troll, but you are wrong - and I never let this one go, as its so obviously and demonstrably a complete lie..
Do the weekly figures. Each and every week, PS3 users buy more games per units than any other machine. Thats been the case for the last 11 weeks and its indisputable, using any figures you can find in all territories.
You can only confuse the issue if you try and talk about 'life time attach rates' (a machine available for twice as long ought to have a higher life...
I cant disagree with you.
But with three times the number of owners no one would expect any different would they?
What is more revealing is the weekly attach rate - i.e. what percentage of a machines install base bought a game this week.
360 = 10.64%
PS3 = 11.19%
You can do these figures every week for the US market based on VGChartz data and for the last 13 weeks at least, the PS3 attach rate is higher every single week, with...
