Hmm - though the score seems a little harsh, you have to agree with what the guy has written, at least if you've played it for any real length of time!
I'm halfway through disc 2 (about 15 hours), and am enjoying the title, but that is despite its flaws - and there are many. It's certainly not a great advert for the 360, and it not really next gen at all, except for some nice visual touches (if you can forgive the framerate which is always struggling).

I heard someone ea...

This is utterly pointless and represents the usual 'I've just taken over a power job so I'm going to make some sweeping changes' philosophy.
Change is only of any value if it achieves anything.
In this case, it clearly does not. To claim that people have a problem interpretting a scale of 1 to 10, but understand A to F better, is ludicrous. Its actually the other way around, with people being far more framiliar with a score out of 10. People wary of a score of '5' will be just ...

I think everyone acknowledges that this kind of game is particularly important in Japan, and its difficult to conquer that market unless you have a great selection of RPG's. Considering the time the 360 has been out, it really hasn't had too many , so people who want this style of game continue to buy them for the PS2, which has tons of excellent examples.
The kind of money MS have been throwing at these teams to try and score a huge hit, is an indication of how important they see this...

Appologies guys - you are quite right - I actually meant to put 'PS2 style', but Jstyle would have been more descriptive!

The story is actually OK. Starts off slow, but becomes more intiguing as it unfolds. Pretty sad for the most part with lots of emotional pieces designed to be tear jerkers - its not a 'happy happy' game at all! I should add I'm only a little way through disc2 , but so far it's the linearity thats a bit of an issue for me, with few opportunities to explore anything and little varience in the patch you follow. Thgerer are often times when you play for long time with lots of story and no battles...

There's no suprises here.
E.A hires a whole host of old school PC programmers, and no doubt wants them to reuse subroutines they've been using for years, and gets them programming for 2 years on an xbox 360 before saying, 'oh - BTW guys, we also need it on PS3, just run a quick convertion will you?' Its pathetic and why every E.A. developed title on the PS3 is an absolute disaster. Criterion still have some independance so they were at least spared the routine ineptitude with which EA...

Quite possibly the worst argued opinionated BS I've ever read! Bet he gets tons of hits... but I'm not going to help him with an apporval..:(

Your obviously a US citizen!
So I guess I need to remind you, that there is actually a whole other world beyond the borders of your country. We also buy games machines. These figures are world wide figures. NPD figures are US only.
Nobody disputes that the 360 has had it all tied up in its home market as the NPD figures show. But its different everywhere else, and even in the states, the sales are getting ever closer.

Well the continuing numbers seem to show the trend in rising numbers of PS3 sales is continuing. You can continue to dispute actual figures, and I note the usual zealots are doing so, but you can't dispute the trend.
Whats impressive for sony is how they seem to be catching up with the 360 in its home territory of the US. Of course , it needs to outsell it by huge amounts to ever chip away at the install base advantage, but the sales are certianly starting to suggest this could happen ...

Hmmm..not the worst article I've ever read, but when a console in its second year sells less than it did in its first and is outsold by both its rivals, its hard to make the case for it 'winning'. Nonetehless, he made a valiant attempt, and convieniently stuck with figures based purely on US sales, as any attempt to look outside that market would not have helped his case.
His arguments on attach rate also fall flat- if you look at attach rates for each and every week of data, even in t...

Impressive attach rate for PS3 continues, with it shifting more software than 360 despite having a smaller install base.
I don't really see why this should be happening as Europe hasn't any big exclusive, but it further reinforces the point that PS3 owners buy plenty of software...

The WII continues its domination...

I have to agree. I play both machines regularly, and its the 360 controller that gives me hand cramp after extended use, I never get it with the PS3 controller or layout.
I've always felt the Playstation design is about as ergonomic as it gets, and even after two years of using a 360 controller, I haven't changed my mind.

Whilst reports of a big MS demise are certainly a bit of a stretch of the imagination, its not surprising to see such opinions expressed!
MS have had a complete stranglehold on the PC market for a long time, and this financial muscle has allowed them to buy their way into lots of different related technologies and areas. Trouble is, they have rarely made a succes of it. Even looking at the now thankfully solvent games division, they will need to continue making huge profits for a long ...

I think they charge too much, and are simply profiteering from back catalogue releases

I archive all games for all systems, and have all the VC titles already playing perfectly via emulators on my PC. I'd happily pay a resonable price for such an old game that has had no new development time, but at these prices I'll just play them on my PC.

Brilliant, great find thanks for that!

Just to complicate matters a bit though, to have a proper comparison you need to include a 'time available' factor.:)

Take me as an example - I've had my 360 for 2 years and my PS3 for 10 months. If I were buying games at the same rate for both machines, I'd have more than twice as many for the 360, as I've had if for longer.

This is why a lifetime attach rate is often seen as misleading, and I do believe week...

Totaly!

When looking at the weekly attach rates its been interesting to note that they are higher for PS3 every week in the US and Europe, but in Japan, 360 attch rates have always been good.

I guess it simply proves that in Japan, 360's really are only bought by hardcore gamers, who are obviously likely to consume more titles than the more casual audience..

Hmm - I got a plug and play kit as soon as I bought my 360, throwing away batteries is not only a mugs game, it environmentally unsound too! :) I consider an essential purchase and always thought it was cheap of MS not to include it in the console price.

I must admit to being a little perplexed by their stated results..

My PS3 controllers seem to last for a lot more gaming than my 360 ones do on the official MS play and charge pack? This always made more sense to...

I know I'm in the minority, but I never liked the original smash bros!

Strategy for it was rudimentary at best, and the moves did not lend themselves to skilful play, which is what I crave for one on one fighting action. I've no problem with limited combo moves and button mashing when playing a single player quest game, but for person to person combat, smash bros never had the finesse that can make multiplayer combat games so much fun for me!

As I said, I know I'...

It's precisely because of the American core gamers needs to do little else than 'shoot people in the head', that the PS3 has had a harder time establishing itself among the US core gamer demographic - I totaly agree with you!.
However, having a broader range of titles catering for a wider variety of gamer, has already started to pay dividends with all the other markets, and was a driving force behind the PS2's amazing success, so I would suggest it's a far better longer term stratagem ...

@Gina-get-u
Erm did you not read the big difference?
11 million was a shipped figure, 9.5 million is a sold figure.
I don't know for sure, but I reckon if you sell 9.5 million in a year, you've probably shipped 11 million? Is that not not logical?
