Hmmm - a gadget and technology trade show has never been a place to show games off - and apparently this show is in huge decline if last years reports are to be believed:-

Quote<the Register>
Things just aren't as big as they used to be at CeBIT. The trade show has slipped down the industry's to-do list almost as quickly as it has vacated the number of the halls it used to pack out.

However, mixed amoung the gadgets and automation an...

Absolutely agree with you. I'm only on disc 3, but I have to say I'm finding the dungeon design, and the complete linearity pretty tedious.
Art design and implimentation is excellent, as are the dream sequance writtings, but theres no way this compares with the best - I absolutley love JRPG's and there is no way this compares with the best of them in anything at all except graphics.

What a pathetic article.

His point seems to be that a comparison is subjective? Of course a comparison is subjective, whats the issue??

All I got from reading this, was that the guy didn't like the reviewers opinion, which was quite simply that for the games under discussion, there was hardly any differences any more.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who got the impression that he preferred matters when the PS3 got lame ports that failed in compariso...

Well I always buy every games machine (I even had a CD drive for the Atari Jaguar, or 'the toilet' as I liked to call it), so no doubt I'd buy a next Xbox machine too.

I'm sure it would be a very fast architecture based on the latest PC developments, as it makes sense to stick with what you know and that would provide a safe transition for developers. Don't do anything different, just do more of it faster...
I hope and trust they have learnt from the hardware issues surr...

Erm - thats a pretty silly post! :)

There was a fight between two rival formats.

One format got knocked out and left the ring.
That makes the other format the winner.

Doesn't matter if no one turned up to watch the fight - there was still a victor...

@adonis
Thanks for your reasoned and well written comments.
It makes a change for someone on this site to be able to disagree with me without acting like I kicked their favorite puppy, so bubbles for you mate.

I do actually love Jrpg's and have played them since the very earliest days. I've no problem with random battles and 'leveling up' at all, its a perverse part of the appeal of these titles! Indeed, the very fact that I've played this for 20 hours and intend ...

Owned a 360 machine since release date - had RROD twice but still repair it as I need the thing.
I've owned every single games machine, and I do mean every machine since the original PONG machines.
I develop games for a living. I'm credited on 4 360 titles, and maybe 30 to 40 titles over my 15 year games development career. Many of these titles have been huge franchises that every single gamer will know.
If you wish to believe I do not own a 360, simply because I fail to ...

'and additional yet-to-be-announced innovations'

This is their attempt to capture the WII market with a motion controller. Trust me. I know this for a fact. You heard it here first.

I just don't see that its the right direction for them to take, and with such limited development sources at their disposal, it seems a shame that they are shunning the core gamer to try and grab a slice of Ninties pie, I think it will fall flat... it cetainly leaves me cold..

I'm enjoying the game and have hit disc 3, but it really is not good enough to be spawning sequals. Sorry to any huge fans, but it just isn't.. Far too linear, and the plot is really contrived.
Love the srt design and style though...:)

Hmm lets look at the figurs properly shall we?

Weekly attach rate from these figures for the US:

PS3 - 10.71%
360 - 9.17%

Yet again, on average more PS3 gamers bought a game this week than 360 owners. Its been the same for the last 14 weeks in all territories.
Each PS3 owner buys more games than each 360 owner. Thats the facts, and I urge anyone who wnats to know the truth to simply look at the figures themselves - it couldn't be more o...

What a pathetic point of view.

So MS are above the law, and if we insist that they follow the rules thay should 'teach us a lesson'!

How dare we stand in front of the almighty MS.

Because you are obviously ignorant, maybe you should do a little reasearch about MS and its record of anti competitive trading practices and law breaking. You'll find they are also handed punitive anti trust punishment from the US governments and several other places in ...

Another dev has a hard time adapting to a new architecture? Where's the news? Haven't we heard that a million times before? I heard it about the PS2 architecture too..
Yes, as we've discussed and agreed, using PC hardware to make a games console meant that everyone could program a 360 from the start and the tools set was well developed.Good move.
Those developers that try harder and dedicate some effort to it, come up to speed on a completely new architecture - those that rely ...

Oh dear. Crap game gets crap port.
Considering the time they've spent on it its hard to see how they mucked it up so completely..
Never mind. Having played it and not bothered finishing it on 360, its not a big problem for PS3 only owners to miss this one. I just hope that not too many people buy it and find out how gimped it is till after they've spent the cash!

Ps3 weekly software attchment rate has been the highest for over 12 weeks now - in all territories.
The VGChartz figures make it easy to devide the software sales by the total number of units out there, so its really easy to see what percentage of a machines users bought games from week to week. Do the figures and its the PS3 attach rate that the higest, every week in every territory, except, suprisingly in Japan.

So you'd call Bill Gates, the founder of the company, and all the other senior VP's that left, 'Janitors'??

Ho ho! You guys really will stoop to any level of stupidity to try and start some kind of flame war!

People leave companies. It happens almost every day. Sometimes these people are the people at the top.

People understood that Bill was going to leave - it had been much heralded. The rumors and speculation only started when so many other senio...

Thanks for pointing out the article - I missed this when it was submitted, and had wandered why Sony lost the inroads they had made in starting social gaming!

Much I can see the kind of conspiracy theories this might suggest, I seriously doubt that such a statement would see him depart his role. He's always been refreshingly candid, and spoken his mind. Being dissapointed with a company policy is not the same as blasting anyone, and I seriously doubt this had bearing on his cur...

@permutated
You can be as pissed as you like. People have every right to moan about E.A.'s tactic of buying good companies and destroying them. The have a track record of destroying every company they purchase, and they admit it themselves.
I was part of Bullfrog when we were absorbed into E.A., so I've seen first hand how their ridiculous corporate mentality sucks the creativity and zest from a once great company, and results in dismally formulaic teams as a result. I gave it a...

Lots of us mate, my personal set is a Sony X3500 (XBR4 in the states).

More and more of these 1080P sets are being bought each year, and these games machines are supposed to be around for a while , right? :)

Its false advetising alright.

The 360 has an excellent upscaling chip and can produce a very compatent 1080P output from any rendered signal. But its not a true 1080P rendered screen, and I dislike the fact that they claim it is.
Claiming that it is, would allow ordinary DVD's to claim they are 1080P simply because there are upscaling players around that output a 1080P signal.
Its clearly false advertising and they will continue to do this until someone pulls them...
