No - I think quite a few people aren't too bothered.

When you buy the game on release day, you will get the same product what ever machine you own. The promise of a some serious add ons in October will no doubt be a turn on for the more hard core completists out there, and they should definately get themselves the 360 version if they have the choice.
But most people won't be that bothered by the promise of some add on content in the future that they will likely have to ...

The motion controls were not the problem for me.

I really liked the six axis controls.

But the game was simply poor - bad missions, lack of decent story, not enough info on screen to help you navigate, poor fighting - the whole game was a real mess of wasted potential and an excellent case study for any aspiring designers to demonstarte how not to put a game together.

Swooping around with the six axis controlling the dragon was one of the only real...

It may not be the majority of the market, but there will always be those who value true fidelity, and thats where the future market for a physical format will be even after bitrates increase and Hd content can trully be accessed by the majority of households (which is a way off yet).
I value visual fidelity as a digital artist, so I'm really not impressed with lower res compressed versions when compared to a blu ray.
I'm unfortunately also picky with my music. I spent a lot of t...

Fair enough mate - I wasn't aware that early TV's did not support any progressive scan HD modes.

I guess if you are happy with an interlaced signal and wish to keep such a set, then this issue would indeed be really annoying. But if you spent any time with a progressive scan set you would never want to go back!! Interlaced signals are horrible to my eyes and the 1080i standard was simply a way for cheap TV componants to deliver a 'headline' resolution while only actiually deliv...

Ps3 eye is an absolute essetial. Completeley eliminates the need for using a blu tooth headset, and I wouldn't use my Ps3 without it.
Haven't got the live cam for the 360, but without the mic functions, I wouldn't find it that useful....

...its amazing how a few words can be twisted when its such a hot topic!

Lets face it guys, the details given here are very sketchy indeed.

Four sentances.
Three of them almost worthless and not the subject of our debate. So what have we got:
'It will be bigger than a lot of people think. GTA3 Vice City and San Andreas were basically expansions of GTA3. Think of the DLC that way. We are talking major expansion for GTAIV'

No real de...

Did you not understand the nature of this site?
A press release is news, most of the news is a company or developemnet house enthusing to the world about its new 'product'.
I've read several on here today from MS as well - as is right.
I'd rather read all the press release like this that are routinely posted here than all the other opionated blogs that are also routinely posted and analysed. Or would you rather that the 'news' was only hand vetted by yourself to be of in...

Wow - nice to actually read an exchange of ideas without either of you accusing the other of blind fanboyism! Bubble to you both for actually using the reply function as it was intended.

Just to keep on topic, I've had two RROD, but I get it replaced because theres a lot of tiles on 360 I want to play. No other reason. I don't actually like the design much, I think its too loud and unlike many the 360 contoller gives me hand cramps after a few hours, but I've got it for the sof...

Re your resolution problem - I don't understand why you don't just play games at 720P? Thats the native resolution of nearly all titles anyway, and a 720P image beats the hell out of any interlaced picture I've ever seen. If you have a TV that doesn't support 720P output then you really should ditch it..sorry but thats the HD standard and a TV not supporting it would be insane.

Why is it that as soon as someone questions a report or isn't gushing with praise, its immediately attacked as fanboyism? I don't understand why people here have to be so dismissive of others views as long as they are honestly expressed?
Surely a forum like this is a place for those of different views to have a reasoned discourse about the gaming news we read. It pretty obvious when someone is really trolling, and its also easy to hit the ignore button and move on, but whenever someon...

I feel slightly sorry for MS's position on this one - they've been backed into a corner.
They have always championed giving their customers 'choice', but we all know that theres no way on earth they would dare to release a Blu ray add on. Whatever price they managed to release it at, it would make a 360 sku thats comparable with a PS3 feature set look extremely pricey in comparison and definitely lead to a drop in sales.

This leaves the machine a bit further away from t...

Well - no it wouldn't and I'd be well up for it if, and when, the remake arrives.

But its a completely different game!!!

JRPG's have pretty much 'nailed' what they are about for some time, and there's been precious little 'innovation' to move the style of game forwards. Lost Odyssey is a perfect example - in gameplay terms its really no different than a jrpg of 6 or 7 years ago, it just has higher production values and visuals. The genre relies on engaging charac...

How do you know its a XBLA game?

If they keep all the levels from the original (that was a big game), and have the textures sizes and geometry that the great looking screenshot suggests they have, then there is no way that this could squeeze into live's limitted allowable game size?

I guess we'll just have to wait for more details, but if you have another source of information than this story, and not just the idle web speculation and rumnours that came before, ...

Oh well - I'm seriously dissapointed.

This title was indeed one of the best ever FPS games when it was created, and the screen shot looks great. But things have moved on significantly since this game, and its gameplay now will not be able to match the best of the genre.

As an exclusive to shout about, its a bit of let down. I was hoping for a new game, not an N64 port....

I guess I'm in the minority, but I've never missed the rumble, and almost always turn the feature off when I can on the 360 pad. Most of the time a developer will simply use the rumble to accentuate a 'dramatic point' (read: rumble violently to herald a BOSS). Its only very occasionally that a tactile rumble can add to the control - usually working on racing titles to indicate drifting onto rough surfaces.

As for the six axis - I like it. Its not necessary on the majority of ti...

The cap is a unfortunate side affect of having machines without hard drives..it means dowloadable games have to be created with a memory card in mind.
It was a decision that was ultimately going to cost them, but it does mean they can market a non HD machine at a lower price point and try to attract the casual market. I don't know how succesful that has been (how many 'arcades' do they sell) but I suspect that strategically it was good move and if the only downside is a few multi game...

GOW2 will be a brilliant game. The design team and artists are all excellent and the Unreal engine is powerful. I can't wiat for the game.

But MS fans ought to be aware that the engine is not specifically for their system. It's runs perfectly on the PS3 the kind of rubbish 'it couldn't run on PS3' comments we heard about the first game, cannot be said, as the same engine runs perfectly on the PS3.

If Microsoft want to show an engine that really shows the fulls360...

Not true sir! I was paying very close attention and wrote this comment as the kwynote speech was happening. this WAS a rech demo of the unreal engine and gears was not mentioned. It was only at the end of the session that they showed the CG GOW2 trailer and announced it - but that was after this comment had been written!

Sony's parties have always been real 'parties' with the emphasis on drinking and dancing and live performances from bands. It's been this way for over a decade, and Joystiq are showing they're pretty new to all this stuff if they were expecting anything to be about games!

As a developer myself, I used to grab tickets to Sony's London parties for many years. A good excuse to get drunk on free booze and laugh at other devs and industry notables making t*ts of themselves.

That its useless to anybody now is self evident - thats why they are slashing the price to level, it simply wouldn't make sense to buy it at any other price.
Obviously, it doesn't make sense to use it as a upscaling dvd player, as nearly all 360 systems will allow this anyway. so its simply for playing the rather limtied (and never to grow) catalougue of HD DVD's.
Given the fact that this box is technically gimped (no 1080P output), has consistantly been reviewed as the worst HD...
