Pretty damn close considering it's in beta.
I don't think it's for people who can't afford games. That's like saying Netflix is for people who can't afford movies. It's more of a convenience thing, at least for me.
Because we all want the power in the consoles we purchase to be maximized. If it's just 1 game every year, no biggie but if this were continuously happen, that would be frustrating. I was listening to podcast unlocked on my way to work and they had an interview with the Outer Worlds team and asked them what it was like being under MS now. They said that MS hasn't said peep to them regarding The Outer Worlds and hasn't been involved in any decision making or requests. It certainly ...
Sony would have done exactly the same thing if the tables were turned.
No, I don't believe you would. Publishers/developers would just put much less effort into their games to reduce the costs of development, cutting corners where ever they can. Marketing would be reduced to ads on game sites only (no biggie there) Games would be shorter, smaller experiences (which isn't all bad either). Games wouldn't try and push the graphical envelope anymore and instead focus on a tried and true graphical engine to reduce loss and maximize profits. Game dev team...
The reason that digital games have to be the same price as physical media is to appease the brick and mortar retailers. If physical copies were $60 and digital games were $50 dollars, the casual market would gravitate toward the cheaper purchase which cuts out the retail stores. Since game sales are where most of their money comes from, they won't be happy about that and would thus make less of an effort to carry your products. That's the only reason.
This guy gets it!
@ElementX,
That drives me insane!! I have to set it down so delicately otherwise >>>>> Fast Forward to spoil my show!
How are you grabbing your ankles and bitting the pillow at the same time?
I disagree. The only DLC I purchased was for the Shadow of Mordor because I absolutely fell in love the the game and couldn't stop playing it. So you're saying that I should have just missed out on all of that because of people like you? Why do you get to decide how I spend my money? I pleaded with my son to not buy a ridiculously over priced John Wick skin in fortnite. It was something stupid like $20. I told him that's a crazy waste of money. After a few days of telling him no, ...
They are also the only reason the industry still exists. Without them, the industry collapses.
How does a company FORCE you to purchase DLC?
Serious question for everyone here.. What do you really think would happen after 6 months of nobody buying MT's, besides a few of the smaller studios closing? Do you think game companies will just turn over and say ok.. well, we tried, so I guess we'll just raise the base price of all games by $10-15?
I would much rather have optional and cosmetic micro-transactions in a game, than being forced to pay an extra $10-15 dollars for a game.
So excited, wish it was already E3.
This gen has had plenty of quality games for xbox. A few of my favorites have been Gears 5, Ori, Cuphead, Forza Horizon, SOT and Sunset overdrive.
Both companies should keep doing they're thing. It's good that they are different options for gamers.
Just the 10+ million halo fans out there. Ya, just that tiny group.
343 is responsible for the worst single player campaign and the best multiplayer of the series. If they can keep the multiplayer bar as high as they have and just improve the story, halo fans will be in heaven.
I hope one of the other 6 lead producers can pick up the slack. If not, maybe they can offload some of his duties to 1 of the other 15 producer's at 343.
Same here and I agree that gamepass offers really good value. I just don't think it's just for people who can't afford games.
