It always has to be something with the hardcore fanboys. First it was xbox has no games, then it was gamepass has no value, then it was ..but you're going to hurt retailers, which then became gamepass is screwing developers, now it's Gamepass is only full of shovelware. To which I say, go play on playstation then and leave xbox to do its thing. I love what MS is doing right now and the changes they've made. Great games and great services.
@Inzo,
I can see the desperation in your post.
@Inzo,
You don't have to buy them! They are all going to be available on Gamepass.
@KingThrash,
If you can look at MS from 2001, 2013 and 2019 and NOT see a massive difference in improvement, I'm afraid nothing MS could do would ever satisfy you. Thank god for Sony, right?
Rare said that they would rather partner with outside developers to work on their previously released IP's so that both of their teams can focus on new IP's.
haha we either watched different conferences, or we simply have different opinions. Hands down the best XO to date.
It's definitely going to be a much more interesting next gen battle, that's for sure. As far as gamepass filler, same as sony. The only difference is that they will charge you separately for the games where as MS is grouping them into their Gamepass service. Really looking forward to Ninja Theory's unannounced game being handled by their second team.
Obsidian has two full teams working on games. One is most likely working on Outerworlds 2 while the other one is still under wraps. The Grounded game is a splinter passion project done by a group of a dozen employees. I would expect that we see Obsidian's next big unannounced game at E3.
I haven't seen anything from Microsoft or Sony that would suggest they are pumping out shovelware so I think you're all good.
The alternative would be for Microsoft to step in and mandate what kinds of games they get to make. I don't think anybody wants that. Let's just wait and see how it comes together and judge it based on that.
Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing yet. I like the convenience of swappable space but I don't want the Sony Memory Sticks all over again. Those things were expensive.
Definitely could have benefited from more polish. I would love to voice acting in the game as well, so that I don't have to read them out loud to my kids.
You could argue that MS is a different company today than they were back in the day. New CEO with a different vision for the future than the previous CEO in combination with new leadership under Spencer. If MS says, we'll fund your next game, make whatever you want... I think Playtonic would jump on that. Beats having to do crowd funding.
At the $1 deal, MS is losing, I believe that's why it's only for 2 months. When they introduced Gamepass Phil Spencer mentioned using the funds from gamepass to fund future games. So hypothetically if 5 million people subscribe to game pass for a year at 10 dollars a month, that's 50 million dollars a month that Microsoft can feed into the development of its own games as well as procuring 3rd party games for the service. If the users hit 10 million, that's 1.2 billion dollars ...
And i'm assuming the team that just wrapped the outerworlds rolls onto the Outerworlds 2. Both Sony and Microsoft own 15 studios now, I wonder how many of them have multiple teams.
We're not privy to the contract that both parties agreed so all we can do is speculate. Obviously the publishers feel that there is enough of a benefit to put their game on gamepass or they wouldn't have agreed to it. If MS goes to a developer and says, "We'll give you what you would have received from a game sale for every user that downloads and plays for 20 minutes, I would VERY MUCH consider that deal if it was my game. It's a gamble, sure but the number of people you...
I hope they are free patches though. Would suck to buy TLOU2 at the end of the ps4 lifecycle only to buy it again as a ps5 launch title.
We all understand that we pay for subscriptions. We know that monthly free games with gold and free games from PS+ aren't really free as we're paying the subscription price. We use the term "free" because it's 4 letters and takes less time to type out "included with ps+" or "Included in my gamepass subscription". Think of "Free Samples" from Costco as an example. I walk up to the person handing out the samples, and they just give me one. If...
Wonder when we will find out what their 2nd game in development is
@Cmoney007,
It sounds like you're falling into Microsofts sales funnel without even knowing it. You're doing exactly what they want you to do. Microsoft doesn't care where you play, as long as you subscribe.
