They will hype up their MS exclusives for that first year until they transition into next gen exclusives only.

Riiiight.. All those studios MS bought will suddenly stop making games. Maybe they can make ice cream. That sounds fun.

Sounds like this console isn't for you.

oh god no, not in that league, it's not that type of game. I do think that it's going to be huge though. I never cared about a flight sim game in my life but I am waaaay to excited for this game. No idea why. I just want to fly over my house. Maybe check out some of the destinations that I've traveled to in the past. Probably won't put more than 30 hours into it unless there's a campaign of some kind.

Similar to Shadow of Mordor. The next gen versions contained the nemesis system while the ps3 and xbox 360 had it stripped out because it was too intensive.

@sampsonon,
It's kind of hard to take your comments seriously when you say stuff like that, especially since all evidence points to the contrary.

The thing with Subscription models right now is that EVERYONE wants to do their own. The industry can't sustain a subscription model for each and every publisher, so in about a year to 18 months, the ones that don't cut it will collapse and only the strong will survive. Once that happens, the failed subscription model for those publishers will be folded into one of the already established services or go back to the traditional route. One thing to keep in mind though is that all of the...

@Rachel,

Right, I agree with you that the quality of music has degraded, as have the quality of movies but I don't see what that has to do with the subscription model. Take TV as an example, TV is arguably much higher quality now than it was say 15 years ago.

Word on the street is that they already have acquired bluepoint and are holding the news for their next event.

Really interesting article. So Ninja Theory has at least 4 teams working on stuff that we know of, half of which are VR related. Bleeding edge, Hellblade 2, Project Insight and Project Dreadlock (which sounds nuts!) Dudes had a wild life.

Why would that be bad exactly? I remember the days of paying close to 20 dollars for a music CD only to find out there are only 3 good songs. The music landscape is so much better now that it was back then, especially for the customer.

I haven't heard of any of these games but I guess that's the point. Anyone know if they're any good?

That is beautiful!

It's actually 1 year. It's only 2 years if you're counting from today, per Booty. Are you really equating supporting the xbox one family for a year post next gen launch with forced Kinect and DRM? Seems a bit extreme. I'm looking forward to the Series X because I'm getting a 4k tv this year and want experience next gen on that.

Why would they backpedal? They are doing this with their fans in mind. There is no downside to this, no matter how you look at it. Unless you're one of the misinformed that believe developers develop games for the lowest spec and then scale up.

I'm also glad that Sony isn't taking this approach. I like it when they take different directions. You are correct, you won't need to buy a whole new system for that first year. Remember, MS would much rather you buy an xbox one over a series X. All they care about is getting to to subscribe to gamepass. MS are laser focused on growing Gamepass and this decision to support the Xbox one for an extra year, supports that.

Exactly! MS is giving you options as to where you can play your games. If you have a PC, MS would much rather you game on PC so they don't have to take the hardware hit on the next gen console.
