I noticed the tearing in the head to head framerate tests, it was everywhere on the screen, not just in a couple locations. The unlocked framerate is the culprit, especially with so much variance. As much as Id love to see 60fps, if they cant keep it constant.... then lock it at 30fps and do away with the tearing. Vsync is a must in any current gen game. Especially in a racing game, where you need focus.
What they don't tell you is that only 1% of PC owners are actually playing games in 4K. And those that are, spent a thousand dollars plus building their systems to do so. The difference? Visuals. The game we are playing on the consoles is the exact same game they're playing on their 4K PC, with better visuals. That's it.
In the end, it comes down to who's willing to spend the most money to play the exact same game.. In 4K.
What is most surprising is there is no draw in, not even in the far distance. Shadows arent popping, nothing. I only noticed one instance of shadow fade in, which Im guessing is a glitch, because I didn't see it a second time.
I am amazed at how fluid the world looks. Being able to see so far off into the distance, gives the illusion that the world is complete and not being rendered around you. This is the first open world game I've seen do that. The animation of th...
Tiny bit sharper textures on PS4, otherwise... they both look and run the same. This game definitely looks more detailed than The New Order. Im finishing up the first game today and am going to start on the Old Blood tomorrow. If you havent played either, do so. They are a blast! Especially if you like old school, single player shooters. 20+ hours in each game, both of which cost $20 or less, each.
Definitely a lot of game for your money.
You both hit on the head, what I came in to post. The Xbox One has some good games in Dead Rising, Sunset Overdrive and Forza... but they shot themselves in the foot with their unveiling, by doing everything they could to portray the brand as anti consumer and making games the afterthought, in the last few minutes of the presentation. It totally undid almost 15 years of momentum they had built for the brand and was the very reason I switched to the PS4.
I felt they kicked the...
Yep. I started playing on my Vita, then started playing again on my PS4... Earning trophies on borh systems. The game is pure crack! The gameplay is fantastic and I haven't experienced one glitch yet.
Reviewers, a score of 4 or less should be saved for games that are absolutely broken. Glitchy to the point of ruining a games progression. Not because you cant handle the difficulty or its not your type of game. If it's not your type of game, you shouldn't be playin...
Do not believe this review. I played the game for hours upon hours and it is a great classic shoot em up. Anybody that would rate this game at a three... should not be playing classic games. It's basically an open world shooter, that allows you to fly anywhere, with power ups and bosses. Think of your favorite side scroller or top scroller, except that there are no constraints and you can fly anywhere you want to, but still have structured goals to meet, to finish the level. Nice visual...
My first platinum.
Yes! Any space/ flight combat game, is a good one... in my opinion. It is my favorite genre and is sorely lacking so far this gen. The fact that this game looks really good, is just icing on the cake. I am hoping we hear something about a new Ace Combat for the PS4 come E3. This and No Mans Sky are a good start, hopefully they both do really well and usher in a resurgence in support for the genre.
Cant wait!
I'd be up for a game like this. But basically, from what Im reading, what they're asking people to do is fund a demo(that supporters could play), so they can shop it out to bigger publishers. At which point, if they found said publisher, all of the people who funded the project would be screwed out of a full copy of the game.
I'm not sure that any publisher would take a chance on a game like Wipeout in this day and age. Even flight combat games have been put on the s...
Exactly. The beauty of fixed hardware, is developers will always find a way to squeeze more out of it. They havent even scratched the surface of GPU compute use yet. Not to mention, as Sony perfects its OS and dev tools, they will free up more and more of the memory and CPUs... giving developers better and more access to Resources that were previously locked to OS functions.
It happens with every console, every generation. Tools get better, resources free up and developers co...
Seeing that logo brought flashbacks of the box for the Amiga game. Cant wait to play it!
I thought this was slated for a western release. Hopefully it makes it over, even if only a digital release. It is such a great series. Like 80s arcade gaming with modern visuals.
Ive been a gamer since the LED and Pong days of the 70s. Owned almost every system ever made. My advice to everyone... Play the games on the system you want to play and dont worry about what anyone else likes. After all, it is your enjoyment that is at stake. Not theirs.
I prefer to play multiplat games on the PS4, because it does offer the best performance. But, there are also great games on the Xbox One that I would love to play, like Dead Rising.
I think p...
I bought one theme(San Fran Bridge) and it looks like it is in standard definition 16:9. They are very low resolution and the animation is archaic. Which is why I went back to using the standard theme. I wish they would allow people to create their own themes, whether animated or not. At least allow us to select a photo from a USB stick.
Good to know. I was playing today, for around 3 hours, doing nothing but walking around and looking at the visuals. The most glaring of issues, is the pop in and out of cars. It happens at about half the distance it used to and in a more random nature.
LOD draw is, easily, 1/4 of what it used to be. It draws just feet in front of you, whereas before it was about 10-15 feet. Also, there is pop in of certain high res textures, mainly on the larger metal power poles.

This, it happens at every developer after a title ships. There are very few full time employees in this business anymore. You are basically hired as a temp til the title ships. If you are lucky, they will keep you on for the next project... But thats usually not the case.
This isnt headline news. It happens at every large developer on every large project.
Any developer that would go back months after release and make these adjustments, knowing that 90% of the people playing probably won't even notice, is a developer that actually cares about the quality of their game. Totally amazing in this day and age, given that most developers would just move on to the next project and not give a second thought to making adjustments, especially visually, on the game they released months before.
We need more developers like Techland.
I'm watching a live feed video of the PS4 version on twitch and it looks $&@?!/! phenomenal. I don't care what resolution it's running at, it still looks good. Any bitching is in vain, because this is an unfinished product running on an unfinished engine. So it's only going to get better from here on out. But the fact that the demo looks so good and runs fairly smooth is a testament to the game we are going to be playing when the final version releases.
This is the perfect example of a game that keeps on giving, long after launch. This game proves that you don't have to release a new title in the series to keep people playing. As long as you support what is already out with substantial post launch DLC, you can keep a titles excitement going for years after its original release. It amazes me the support that Rockstar has put into this game, so far after launch. I only wish there was a single player mission creator, where you could create...
