343 is made up from the staff Bungie hired during production of Halo 2. Approximately 150 employees, most of who worked on Halo 1, stayed with Bungie during the MS split. 343 hired new staff to replace these openings, but has a lot of talent left that worked on every Halo except Halo 1.
I used to admire him for his cutting edge game design, but now he's abandoning us for the $$ in his wallet. He does know we're the reason he's gotten rich so he should show some gratitude and finish the Half Life series as promised to his fans 10 years ago. He owes us that.
@reeze
No, but if you're Catholic your child may be taught how to be molested and you can't do that in GTA.
@ franzken
Nintendo and, I assume you meant Sony, were never the only competing companies as Gamecube and Xbox both came out in 2002 and Sega was still there before that.
Also, Halo was a Mac title first shown at Mac World in 1999.
The number of tasks XB1 was designed to do with Full DX12 include things like tiled resources being stored in eSRAM; GDDR5 is not nearly as efficient with tiled resources due to packet loss. MS also has a much better sound processor than PS4 which frees up more CPU power. XB1 has more ways to move data around the system to reduce bottlenecks too. There's even more but to summarize, the XB1 is anything but an off the shelf PC since it's the first full dx12 compliant device on the ma...
Perhaps he's interested in Nintendo's games but not their ability to produce good hardware developers want to make games for?
More processing doesn't just mean better graphics. It also translates into unique gameplay. 3D worlds, open world gameplay, destructable environments, complex AI, cinematic storytelling, and countless other innovations were all made possible through hardware improvements.
I'm willing to bet Zelda gets the "carrot leading the horse" treatment until the NX comes out. They need a system seller when it launches.
Holy crap! Just by multithreading the shadow maps they dropped the render time by about 45%? That's insane...
Reminds me of the snes games Out of This World and Flashback, both of which ended up on Live Arcade. There was a retail game called Blowout during the XBOX PS2 gen also.
When is it coming out, in the fall? ;b
If I saw a woman whose jugs were foaming, I'd be upset too. Doesn't she know how to pour a beer?
Seriously though. If cleaveage is so bad why is the vast majority of fashion made to show it? Seems like most women want you to see it anyways or fashion would trend the other way.

In AMD's presentation from GDC it is shown on slide 8 of 19 that 6 of 8 cores are being used in DX11 just like XB1 was at launch. On slide 10 of 19, DX12 is shown using all 8 cores. If you look at the slides in detail, you'll see that in DX11, each successive core does less work where in DX12 all cores do nearly the same amount.
AMD is talking about draw calls here not CPU workload distribution, which means XB1 should see draw calls on 4 ...
@zssquareoff
Like Sony did with Gran Turismo 5: Prologue? The difference being Sony did charge $40 and promised Prologue owners they would be able to download the full game to Prologue for $20, then changed their minds when 5 released. Lol.
I can't wait to see what Kojima has been thinking of making though, he has such fantastic creativity!
The electronic format of this article wasted more power for us to read it than XB1 or PS4 in sleep mode. I find THAT appauling.
@LostDjinn
How do you get a benchmark for something that's not on the console yet? You can't.
How do you quantify Phil's vague statement that XB1 won't see the same benefits as PC? Less than 600%, but how much less? You can't tell me that either.
How do you measure Phil stating that DX12 will make XB1 better at doing what it was designed to be good at? Noone knows what XB1 is designed to be good at, but seeing as it was...
According to what Clarkson said once, it will be a "black muslim lesbian". I'm going to miss that asshole, he was the best!
Yeah, in the minds of people who think XB1 won't benefit from DX12 at all. Even if it only sees 30% of the increase the pc does, that's still a 150-200% increase in draw calls.
Edit: When talking about XB1, MS always states we'll see about a 20-30% increase in performance but compared to what, XB1's current state or that of PC's benefits? Politicians tend to omit details like this in order to downplay certain aspects of topics they discuss in the same w...
I like that a crappy laptop saw a 229% increase but people are still in denial that a system designed to run DX12 will see no benefits.
Don't forget to mention that Brad Wardell spreads lies about DX12 benefits on XB1. You know him right? He's the only person AMD quoted in their presentation on DX12 capabilities. AMD chose 3 of his quotes over using companies like Epic and Crytec but he's got no credentials, right?
Add to that enabling cpu multithreading. Also potential benefits for the direct link the cpu/gpu share and possible benefits for the split gpu architecture. And what tier of DX12 is XB1 designed for; 1, 2, or 3?
Yo quiero Taco Bell!

So I'm making assumptions that Gabe said revisiting a classic would be a bad idea unless a whole bunch of people that work for him had a reasonable explanation as to why they should?
...and I'm self entitled? I must've misunderstood when Gabe said he was going to release a new Half Life episode about every 6 months until the game was completed? That episodic content would shorten the wait for gamers to finish the story? It's been a decade and the best you co...
