The secret hardware is the direct link between the CPU/GPU and the split GPU setup, both of which show up on MS slides but their functions were never talked about; ergo "secret". I assumed most people knew about those things or I would have elaborated earlier.
Oh, and it should be obvious now that Brad knows what he's talking about so all those claims he's made so far should be considered legit.
If they own the IP it is considered 1st party.
So there's a secret feature of DX12 and there's secret hardware in XB1. What an odd coincidence. All these secrets about DX12 are saucy, don't you think? ;b
On a side note it's too bad AMD used Brad Wardell, that guy with no credibility who is obviously an XB1 fanboy, three times in their slides to promote DX12. AMD probably doesn't realize Wardell has no idea how DX12 works or that he lies about how it will improve XB1.
I love sarcasm....
Driver aids are there to help you build your skill level to where you can disable them as you get better. Forza let's you choose how you want to play. Because of the rewind function, my 5 year old son learned how to play in about four weeks, and with no driving aids anymore besides rewind. He can instantly go back to his mistake and try different approaches until he gets it right, helping him learn skills way faster than other games. He hardly uses rewind anymore either now, btw.
E3 should shed some light on things. I'm curious what games will be announced besides the Gears Collection. I also find it interesting that Phil's language when describing DX12 seems to be less ambiguous as we near its true reveal. Lifting of the nda on X12, which is preventing Brad Wardell and others from full disclosure, as well as benchmarks, will be welcome when they happen as well. Hopefully this all happens at E3. Hopefully...
Just because The Order wasn't reviewed well, doesn't mean it lacked innovation. Watchdogs and Too Human are a few other examples of innovative approaches to gaming with flawed execution. I actually don't like The Order but it was trying something new.
See how you guys are quick to jump on opinion you don't agree with too? We all do it to some degree. I'm not wasting my ime describing the innovation in each game mentioned but it is there.
A...
Um, The Order, Bloodborne, Ori and the Blind Forest, Sunset Overdrive and countless others are innovating current gen as we speak. As this generation progresses we'll see more games with highly interactive environments, diverse AI, procedural storytelling and more to define why the new hardware is for more than graphics.
You'll be playing with another gimmick like playable Bowser in another Mario Party retread. Or new IP like Wii Play, Party, Music, Fit etc.

Comfort food? To use the analogy (which is spot on):
Nintendo's business model is not healthy for the industry or the consumer, but this junk food continues to exist because people are addicted to the same franchises they've been playing for 30 years. It's what you eat when you don't wan't something that's good for you; something you eat even though you know it's wrong because you can't control yourself. When is Nintendo going to make a new...
"...like the expensive hardware required for HDMI ipnput and TV processing..."
So an HDMI input, a socket, is expensive??? Besides that, it's a pass through port that requires no other specialized hardware in order to function. The XB1's OS handles everything that gets overlain graphically or with voice command, and both are handled by CPU/GPU which cannot be removed.
I didn't even read past that... opinion should at least still be gr...
I know when Cliff was making Gears 1, he'd stated that when technology cought up to his vision he wanted to do a prequel about the Pendulum Wars and E-Day. Playing as Adam Fenix and learning more about the Locust and stuff would be cool as hell!
I just want to pee on things to solve puzzles. ;D
As you said, portability works both ways too. Now it's easier to port an XB1 version of a game to PC as well, so for devs who don't normally support PC their market increases dramatically with almost no effort. Neither console will get left out because of DX12.
I've also heard multiple times that DX12 makes it easier to program high end graphics technologies which means it saves devs time/money.
Did you know the Nes clock speed was 1.5mhz? They could just remake that system AND make it portable. 240i graphics for the win!
Oh, and sell it with a power glove and R.O.B. since VR and robots are the future!!!
Valve doesn't like 3's for any game. Half-Life for one example did 1 and 2, then Episodes 1 and 2.
Let's try an experiment though:
Hold out your hand with your thumb holding down your pinky, leaving 3 fingers up. Of those fingers let's take away 2 fingers, the ring and index, which represent the two games of any series made so far. What you're left with is how Gabe treats his fans after they made him rich enough to waste his/our money o...
Anandtech's benchmarks showed around a 500% increase on PC's running AMD cards. With Wardell having previously stated that he sees the 8gb DDR3 as a bottleneck for XB1(although he admits he doesn't fully understand the architecture of the system) we know the console won't see the same gains PC will. That's what's what Phil has said all along, but...
Even if it's only 1/3 of the improvement of PC that's a still 166% boost to XB1. Furthermore,...
Why would anyone move the system with a game running inside it? Unless the drive was failing, which is rare, 99% of all cases come from moving the machine. Good luck proving it either way though.
This is possibly a mobile phone app, or a phone, as a "back up parachute" in case their main chute doesn't open in time to stop their hardware from falling to its death. It's a smart move.
Yeah, I agree. I understand why they want same day releases but it is a bit childish to say same day or not at all. Still, they're moving in the right direction; Win 10 will help more indies get on board with cross platform integration.
AMD uses Brad Wardell's quotes in three of these slides. Hardly spreading BS when he's the only dev with quotes in the whole presentation. I think you should look at these things before you post so you don't come across as foolish again.
