When Japan's, basically nonexistent Xbox, market becomes saturated with PS4 sales, global sales will slow for Sony. Many PS4's also sold first to people with multi console intentions. MS is facing an uphill battle, one that took PS3 years to catch up. If MS continues to change as they have it my allow them to catch up as well. Too early to call either way.

Why do people assume it's either Kinect OR a controller? Ryse used both. You could theoretically:
-Voice Command npc's
-Use head tracking to look into corners while driving
-Lean around corners/duck in shooters.
-Use hand gestures to command squads silently
-Talk like you do with Siri/Cortana type AI in games like GTA

Playstation was an add on for SNES until Sony said they wanted to own everything that would play on it. They started the concept of paying for exclusives so Playstation would have games no one else did. Did you know FF7 had a playable demo on N64?

It seems like there was an ulteror motive in mandatory installs - more digital sales means less preowned cutting out the devs profits. If disc based SW played from the disc we wouldn't need big HDD's, but now the digital copy is more convenient than physical.

Funny how Phil only spoke out about Brad's claims that MS was lying about DX12 on XB1, yet has not denied anything else Brad has said before. Why? Phil can't talk about everything because of NDA agreements. Ironically, Phil's only rebuttal was that performance gains depend how you code. What does this mean? The first DX12 games are new "icing" on an old DX11 "cake" and still taste like old cake that looks better. GCN based DX12 needs...
I don't think we'll see full, hardware accelerated DX12 (GCN 2.0) releases like Gears until 2016 E3 but software based DX12 will still improve things a bit. I'm stoked about Halo, Forza, and Crackdown, plus unannounced reveals.

When Phil said 50% boost to PC, he was talking about today's PC's which aren't GCN. When he talks about XB1, he's saying that the first games coming out using DX12 won't be running GC...
Ryse and Forza Horizon 2 are graphics showcases for XB1. Sure the Order looks better than Ryse, but Ryse was a launch title. Forza Horizon 2 has full 1080p, dynamic weather and time of day, global illumination and thousands of lights are being rendered in real time... in an open world. DC loads one small map at a time and many objects rendered don't need high LOD since you never get close to them. For all that it's doing to any given scene Horizon looks better, but wait until 6. H...
The cloud at 2-3x power is probably more of a long term goal when internet bandwidth improves, but some games are using a bit of cloud power now. More games will focus on DX12 until then. I could see more benefit in multiplayer right now, processing the level in the cloud to bring graphic details in line with campaign or tracking thousands of players in real time.
