It's not that I love MS... It's that I like Sony less.

Let's see:
-Code name Solid "Snake"
-Goes by the name Iriquois "Plisken" in MGS2
-Unkempt white guy with a mullet and an eye patch who smokes.

Not Kurt Russell at all.

P.S.
Michael Beihn only belongs in one game - Far Cry: Blood Dragon!

It's the ultimate end for the ultimate fanboy.

Since this was an early proof of concept video, it is possible that this is a target for visual fidelity as well. It's not like we're looking at the Killzone 3 CGI "target video" with similar expectations.

Wow indeed.

Fable was quickly ported to DX12. It is widely known to be running DX11 through it's development. Halo and Forza are both using new engines developed for those titles which are rumored by various sites to be using DX12. Phil even said in a few tweets that DX12 games would likely be out 2015 holiday. It is possible, which is why I used the adjective "heard" and not some other one like "know". Can't even post about a rumor without getti...

@Mastercornholio & Why o why

You misunderstand. I never mentioned Sony at all in my post. I was alluding to the fact that MS is better off waiting until holiday to release their games to give their holiday more impact. Bennibop was right about a gaming drought, but I think MS has a business plan. You know that 50% of all revenue is generated in the last 3 months of the year? Couple that with Win10 and DX12 and this holiday could be huge for MS.

Sorry,...

I think the author means on a month by month basis, not total sales. Personally, I see this as possible in about 12 months, after the holidays prove the XB1 is serious about their commitment to games/gamers.

@bennibop #2

Is it better to have no 1st party lineup for Holiday?

MS is making the right moves, but changing direction in the industry is like maneuvering in a hovercraft - You input the ideas for course correction but it takes time to see the results. Best I can say is that MS seems to be making all the right moves with Win 10, DX12, indie support, and better 1st party support coming down the pipeline. It's not even about the "console wars" either, as this author suggests. In the long run it's about making the brand the best it can be. ...

@frosty

The game runs on DX12. The beta was on DX11. It is mp vs sp as well. No more accurate than using this trailer in my opinion.

Fable is a DX11 "reskin". I've heard Halo and Forza are native DX12 software.

I just thought it was weird that it took him so long to get a PS4, considering his line of work. Nice article though.

So you'll see the pixelation more clearly on PS4? Pixelation visually ruins a game more than resolution does.

By your standards, timed exclusivity doesn't work. Tell me then, how is paying just to advertise a game that is on both consoles better? Sony does that all the time! Wouldn't it make more sense to have their 1st party studios release something meaningful this holiday instead of advertising a game that is available on XB1 as well?

Edit:
Oh, and Rockstar sued Sony for "breech of contract", a contract Sony paid for, to get their GTA games out on XBOX...

I heard somwhere that Epic has something to show based on the Samaritan/Infiltrator tech demos. Maybe it will be 1st party IP like Gears?

4075d ago 3 agree7 disagreeView comment

Why is it that MS gets bashed for having no games, but then gets bashed by the same people for having unannounced ip to show at E3?

Listen to yesterdays podcast guys. There's a lot of good info there besides what is in this article.

Brad says he's got the only DX12 engine running right now because he's been working with AMD and that without AOTS, there wouldn't even be a PC benchmark yet. That's why MS can't give an exact performance gain on XB1, and why Brad is the only one talking. Phil is managing expectations because without a DX12 game running on XB1, he doesn't have data...

Cue circle jerk. Or they could remap that to square if they prefer.

So now you have to spend $5 to spam? Doesn't seem like it will help much to get rid of the problem, tbh.

@ orangepowers

If you listened to even the first 10 seconds of the podcast, you'd realize Phil Spencer endorses the interview. So if Brad says they go hand in hand then they do. Also, DX12 has been in development for 5 years. By Microsoft. It's kind of a given that they knew what DX12 was going to do when they built XB1.

You are right about one thing though; It will not make XB1 more powerful, it will make it more capable.
