They weren't launch consoles, they were consoles shipped out before holiday. I worked at Gamestop for 15 years as a store manager, and MS does it every year so that their shipped consoles also have the holiday bonuses.
Did you put it someplace inappropriate? Mine is behind my entertainment center where it belongs...
I Give Hugs, I couldn't agree with you and Grubster more. We don't need angry fanboys muddying up the site no matter which "side" they're on. Whitesox is way out of line.
SE wants to use Hitman as a guinea pig to see if they can do this with all their titles. Make a game, make it small, then add more to it as long as people keep buying the add ons. They keep complaining that they lose money on games that sell 4-5 million copies... I guess they think this will help.
I'm not buying this until it's done, and I'm pissed that they chose Hitman to do it to.
I agree, for a few reasons:
•Making circuits that hide inside blocks takes up a lot less space.
•Way more decorations and items, and gives more reasons to explore as a result.
•Defending your base from random attacks is a lot of fun.
That said, Creative is all I do in Minecraft, and I play Terraria because it's genuinely old school feeling 2D action RPG. I would need Terraria to retain it's feeling in combat for it not to just be anot...
I'll give it a rent on the Xbox, but I'm still on the fence on this one. It seems a bit sparse in spite of the refined gameplay elements.
When did Ken Levine Become an Indie developer?
Anyways, it sounds like he's going the Theif/Hitman route, where you get small open spaces to play in and be creative with a deep narrative to set up what plays out in each unique space. I personally like that style because it is a good compromise between an open world game often filled with trivial sidequests and collectables, and linear story type games that are over in a few hours.
I'm really sorry to hear about that. TBH, I'm really excited about all the new pieces too, and a bit jealous that there's no way to add the new biomes into an old file other than to replicate one brick by brick, which I actually might do at some point because I'm crazy.
My point is that it is a head mounted display that uses the technology from the Kinect. VR devices could also have used this tech if they chose to, but it would have raised the cost of those devices beyond the point of commercial feasability for gaming. VR is going to be expensive enough for gamers as it is right now.
What was your point?
JB227, I think you're right about Paragon being multiplat, like Unreal Tournament was, especially since there was no mention of exclusivity during the PSE reveal. As far as story driven IP goes MS already had Epic once with Gears, and in that regard and it worked out well for both of them. With MS seeking out new IP, I could see them getting in bed with Epic for another go.
Lol, so any way you look at it their future is in the past.
The basics of the Kinects' visual tech is in Hololens.
So it didn't work out for games. The technology is awesome, just look what people who modded it used it for! Robotic vision, ghost hunting(The device used by Ghost Adventures is nuts!), remote-operated surgical procedures, etc., and that's just Kinect V1. Just like hololens is not tailored for gaming, the Kinect was better suited to other tasks. One man's trash is another man's treasure...
Well Said Dc Bronco. This article is taken entirely out of context. The quotes in this article are actually reflective of Rare's commitment to games for the accessory. MS was making the Kinect with or without Rare's support but it was Rare who chose to go all in on the software for it.
Yeah, but Paragon is a MOBA, and doesn't share any of the Blade Runner-esque art assets of Samaritan or the Infiltrator demo. If you remember, Unreal Engine 3 tech demos used assets that eventually became Gears. That's why I think they might have a story driven game in the works right now as well, in spite of the recent announcement of Paragon.
Fable and Sea of Theives also.
Don't forget though, the only thing we know about Playground's next game is that it isn't Horizon 3. It could be Forza Rallisport, or something more like an open world 3rd person adventure for all we know!
I want to see Epic announce their next IP exclusively for XB1, using the art assets from Samaritan!
More realistically though, I want to hear about:
Mech Assault
Shadow Run
Perfect Dark
Too Human
Or any other old IP that they could reboot. There are so many!
OMG, I would cry. I only have one world, and I build everything in different places on the map so there are themes. I've invested at least 1000 to 1500 hours over the years.
How did it get corrupted?
Die_fiend, I've heard the same thing about Preparation H!
Why does SE insist on using the word Final on things that obviously aren't? I mean, Final Chapter Prologue? WTF.
I think everyone should wait for KH 3.14159: Neverending Final Edition
