It's not that I love MS... It's that I like Sony less.
CRank: 5Score: 80470

Oh no, they run at the same resolution on both consoles! Quick, find something else to complain about before your life is ruined forever!!!

Seriously though, I think it's time to revisit the title, which says, "hugely beneficial impact," not no impact as you've suggested. Also, before you even click to read the article you can see the reason why they chose 30fps over 60fps. Is your ego really crushed that bad by the fact that a game will look similar on bot...

Jon, who cares what Rookie does? You are acting way more immature that he is. It's people like you who make the "N4G PS4 community" feel like Bartertown from Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. Two men enter, one man leaves...

Naughty Cloud, I know that the Sega CD, 32X, and Saturn killed Sega, which is why I said they were 600 million in debt in my post. Seriously, read before you post.

Also, PS2 did kill Dreamcast with their PR campaign just like I said. You can go back and look at the sales data both before and after the announcement of the PS2. At that time, all the ignorant people looked at the list of specs Sony compiled to "compare" the two systems. People saw at the PS2 reveal ...

DX12 was added to the machine with the Win10 update...about a month ago. It takes about 2 years to develop a game from the ground up, and devs have probably had the tech for about a year but that's just a guess based on the fact that Fable is patched and Deus Ex is native, both due out next year.

At any rate, it should be obvious that MS expected to launch the XB1 with Win10 and DX12 but fell behind schedule with the OS itself. Look at how bad the systems features ran a...

They even tried to make the device fail with rapid movements of several feet at a time and still couldn't dislodge the images from their intended spatial location. It's really impressive, even if it's main function is not for gaming.

Well said, Rain. Very informative post about the days before Xbox.

Choujij, Sega was 600 million in debt when the Dreamcast launched and within 18 months it had recovered 200 million of that debt. It was the misrepresentation of the specs of the PS2, coupled by the 400 million still owed to investors that spelled doom for the Dreamcast. What I mean by that is that while Dreamcast listed the fully lit performance of their machine at 3 million polys per second, the PS2 liste...

Rain, I remember when I heard Sega was going software only, then MS showed the xbox controller with the color coded buttons and the jewel in the middle which looked like it would come off so a VMU could be seen. I thought for sure that Sega would partner with them but it never happened.

I don't know if the Sega of today has it in them to be a 1st party studio anymore. Most of their franchises like Sonic have dried up, with only a handful like Panzer Dragoon that would s...

DX12 has to be enabled on the system first. After that, devs have to design the engine then build the game around that. That's why Deus Ex is the first game known to use an actual DX12 engine on XB1.

Game, show me where these "dedicated pipelines" are on any of the diagrams of Sony's processors. Show me where on the diagrams it is labelled that the PS4 supports compression like the move engines do, if at all, at no cost to the GPU performance. How is it that every time someone says something about XB1 then all of the sudden, according to you, PS4 has got it too? How is it that you can Google about Mr. X but can't ever support your claims with any evidence about all the P...

It is only doing good because every household that owns one probably bought one(or more) of the revisions as well. Why sell a customer one when they can buy 3 instead? The 3ds sales numbers, in spite of this, are significantly lower than the DS or Gameboy sales were on a month by month basis anyways. Now Nintendo wants to package deal their new console and new handheld together? The ship the Big N is sailing is headed straight towards an iceberg...

Two years from now, I'll be talking about how PSVR failed to catch on for the exact same reasons. It doesn't matter how good the hardware is if it isn't supported by good software.

MS needs to work on home consoles right now though and get that going with more IP first. No need to stretch things thin with a handheld to support as well.

Yes, let's enter the handheld market when the market is dying a slow death in favor of phones and tablets. What they should do is make an Xbox Phone and pack it with a controller cradle to place all of the necessary buttons/sticks onto it for traditional gaming.

Game, the only one I ever see being a "but, but, but..." around here when it comes to the cloud is you. Who else, right now, has announced a game on a console that even uses the cloud like Crackdown 3? 20 times the power of the XB1??? Tell me, please, I'd really like to know what Sony's killer cloud enhanced game is. They should have something by now, it's not like they didn't know that the cloud was being used by MS for the last 2 years and they pretty much copie...

I agree. Let's turn Resident Evil remakes into that crap that the series became with 4 while we're at it. How about the next Mario plays like Mirror's Edge? Just because someone else might still enjoy it, doesn't mean it is a good decision to change the way it was.

I couldn't stand Resident Evil 4, for example. Everyone else loved it. To me, if they wanted to make a game like that they should have made a new series out of it like they did with Devil May...
