I hope they get their performance at least to the RTX 3070/6700XT level so that we get good competition in the 1440p space. If their RT is faster than RDNA2.0, that would probably push AMD more and more towards compute and ML which could benefit gamers and creators alike. It actually might be a good move from Nvidia to combine gaming and creator GPUs into one, in retrospective.
@camel_toad
You have convinced me! I might need to check out if the Switch version is as good as the PC one. I want 60fps locked, and no stutters. Children of Morta is a frame-pacing lag fest on Switch, but we invested in it so much during our summer cabin holiday with my wife that we don't want to buy it again for PC and start anew.
Try FFXIV! I've loved it so far, and this is coming from a person who started with Dark Age of Camelot and WoW back in the day. It's the only MMORPG that has a really good story, the only MMORPG that gives you goose bumps! You have to suffer through the Realm Reborn content, the first 30-40 hours, but don't miss the main storyline stuff, it will get superb at level 45 and after!
I wonder if Bungie had any insights into Activision-Blizzard's culture and policies? They certainly timed the breakup very well, they didn't have to be too much on the news on this, and it was mostly seen as a positive at that stage for Bungie. They dodged a bullet here, and I'd be interested in knowing if their management had smelled the steaming crap pie in the group duopoly's oven.
At the same time, investors seem to believe in the company as the stock is...
Can I ask why is Hades so highly regarded? It looked like a fast-paced Torchlight to me, and I didn't appreciate the graphics nor writing of that game. Is this better? I like games such as Rogue Legacy (and the 2D goofy graphics are fine) and Children of Morta, but there's something that I don't like the Hades' graphic design, it looks worse than Bastion and Transistor in the art department. It does seem like the gameplay is better than in those games, and story as well. Anoth...
The game was always shallow, but fun. The story is lackluster compared to FFXIV, and the raids etc. are way beyond WOW as well. Music and writing are not even in the same ballpark. And this is coming from a person who played WOW a couple of years, including the four first expansions. The lich king expansion was good, but after that the game went downhill. WoW had some cool locations and gameplay was interesting sometimes, but I can’t wait to get back to the city to continue Heavensward story!...
Agreed. And in my opinion this new trilogy just got better. Less mind-numbing killing. I don’t understand why people want a Lara who kills animals with an assault rifle or twin pistols. Then she leaves them in the nature to rot. I mean anyone who ever spent time in nature knows that killing animals like that is not normal. Anyone who fired a gun knows you cannot fire two guns and hit something. Or what, these people want this to be a Doom / Serious Sam game? Or just another Uncharted?
Nier Replicant remaster (closer to remake) and Days Gone PC release for me this year so far. I got myself into Heavensward, Stormblood and Shadowbringers a month ago, so far FFXIV rivals those two.
Oh wow, ultra @ 1440p with 2080ti, and only 55-70fps. At this moment, the game is heavy. That’s already 30% faster than what Series X can do. Series X might run it 1080p high.
Hmm… I wonder how my OC’d 6900XT will run this at 4K. Ray Tracing is out of question unless they release FSR or another upscaling technique. At 80% res scale, it might work if they optimize it well.
I’m confident the performance will get an uplift as they further optimize the game. ...
@Glenn Killzone Shadow Fall had plenty of color and bright scenes. It is in fact a better looking game on the original PS4, and even more so on Pro. Lower fps, though.
Is that 4K ultra? If you drop to 55fps at worst, I guess 6900xt should be 60fps steady.
I wonder if they will implement Ray Tracing… The game would benefit from it, especially global illumination.
porkChop, you are correct. They don't get 40%. I wonder if they even broke even here. Sony did purchase them, so I do wonder how much of Returnal's sales were in it. Also, the game was in development for four years, not three, so that's a lot of costs to cover. In Finland the taxes are really high as well, so the company and individuals are not making too much money with this...yet!
If returnal sold 560K, Housemarque probably gets around 40% of that cake. So that's (70$ x 560K) x 0.4 = 15M 680K USD. If you divide that with the 80 employees they have, and calculate the three year development time: 15680000 / 80 / 3 = 65K USD per employee per annum.
Surely the 65K is distributed differently within the company and there are probably publisher bonuses, and this is just the initial months, so the game will keep producing monies for both Sony and the Dev...
It's got a 15W power budget for graphics, it won't be able to push 60fps in demanding titles.
Jeesus. That is dark stuff. Why do people carry that much hate with them?
I've studied psychology and in the many case studies we went through in the university courses (mind you, that was 20 years ago), we often saw that people who carry hate have multiple sources of it such as cultural leadership in local communities, personal or family values accompanied with blocks/traumas/problems (which can lead to cultural leadership problems if a person like that is leading a lo...
Because they know they can't top Legends, which is one of the best 2D platforming games ever made.
No game destroy a graphics card. Only the manufacturer can destroy it by not installing safety measures, sufficient cooling and power delivery system.
That lady has really bad back problems. I hope she sees someone regularly for it.
How do you know what distance people sit from their TVs or how big their TVs are?
It will run 4K60 maxed out. 3070 is around 33% faster than Xbox Series X, and in 4K probably 38% or so (RDNA2.0 works the best at 1440p/1800p.) I think my 6900xt should do also a good job at 4K60. Thinking of picking up a tales game in a long time. I think I finished Tales of Destiny 1 and 2 on PSX back in the day. I want to play Berseria as well.
