UHD streaming is about 1/6th the bitrate (and therefore measurable quality) of UHD Blu-ray, so it clearly stands up as a bullet point on a list of "things Xbox does better".

Video playback on PS4 is "fine", but side-by-side with video playback on Xbox the Xbox codecs are clearly superior (again, note the topic).

Event coverage on the PS4 Pro dashboard opened the browser and took me to youtube. The Xbox coverage included shows and inte...

Party chat being server hosted is the reason Xbox players don't have to deal with NAT issues any more. Might be a small detail, but when you encounter problems getting party chat to work it can really ruin a good gaming session.

That's a thing Xbox does better than Playstation. Which is the topic, right? No need to get all flustered.

FWIW i can't even remember the last time i played a game on the Xbox. Mine is basically a blu-ray player.

I see your tropico 5, and raise you Rocket League. Though both were PS offerings, so I haven't really achieved anything. Still, Rocket League is fantastic.

It does quite a lot of little things better. Party chat is server-hosted, Mixer is better than twitch, coverage of events like E3 are handled better, the weekly show Major Nelson does has no PS equivalent, video quality (for game videos on the store, or events) is better, parental controls are better, UHD Blu-ray playback is a thing, EA Access and Game Pass are good options to have.

Playstation does lots of little things better too of course, and there are also subjective d...

The UI for changing name isn't going to.appear from nowhere, and any parts of the user profile and folder structure that use the account name aren't likely to handle changes without any work being done to accommodate it.

The chap that set up the PSN user database left, and didn't tell anyone the password.

5 and 8. The 8 year old would probably be OK with it under the right guidance and advice (ie not if he just started playing it without me being aware and talking to him about the content), the 5 year old would not.

Either way, I see no pressing need to let them have everything they want and no good reason to risk their personal and emotional development on a whim.

People on submarines, yes. He's also the person behind the always-on reveal, and he oversaw the focus on Kinect, SmartGlass, and TVTVTV.

Better to try and to fail than to do nothing though. At least we had something to talk about.

But it was due 2H 2016.

Even if Crackdown 3 turns out to be great, it's a bit of a disaster for Microsoft. The game was supposed to be a showcase for what cloud compute can do for games. The obviously troubled development isn't going to encourage anyone to follow suit.

Corroborated! It bugged me too when I read it.

Having said that... why no question mark on your question? :p

Good timing on the family updates, as my kids just noticed I have Playstations and they're desperate to try WipEout. Needless to say I'd rather not grant them access to God of War and such.

Otherwise not really much in there that I would notice. Some nice quality of life improvements, particularly for streamers and such.

It isn't so much about maximising revenue. They're struggling to support multiplayer across a relatively small playerbase that have already bought the game. This is one of the more successful VR games, so you can imagine how hard it is for others trying to deliver viable multiplayer VR games.

Cross-platform is a good thing anyway. Long may it continue.

Destiny 2 is currently the sole game under a new "Activision" banner on Battle.net, so yes it seems highly likely that Activision will start to distribute games on their own platform. I wouldn't be surprised to see COD release on Steam for a few more iterations though.

Some Xbox one games look butt-ugly on a 1080p screen, with poor AA and often sub-1080 resolution. One X with supersampling would be a big improvement in those circumstances.

Obviously a 4k TV would be better, and a 4K TV with a well-specced PC would be better still. We can't always have everything though, right?

This isn't an update, it has been an available feature on the Pro all along. The only thing changing is that it will also feature on Vega cards for PC. The article speculates that Vega could lead to better support of the feature, which would benefit the Pro.

Tis no bad thing, especially when they've already said that a lot of the tools PC gamers typically use for this will not be compatible with the game.
