Pre-ordered my copy. Getting the digital version for my Vita since I don't actually have a PSP, but I wanted to support this dev team.
No one ever said Vita-only I believe. The suggestions so far is the game would be on PS3/4 AND Vita.
There are 3 things Sony could do at this point:
1) SOCOM 1 & 2 HD Collection (or just 2) for PS3 & PS Vita
2) SOCOM HD Online for PS3 & PS Vita - essentially the best maps from 1, 2, and possibly 3 and 4. Key here is it's online-only (with offline bots). No campaign of any sort.
3) SOCOM 5 for PS4.
Personally I like option 2 the best, especially if there is cross-platform play between PS3 and PS Vita users. Another possible opt...
I can only hope Sony is learning and prepping PSN (SEN) for the fall launch of the PS4. I can't see them wanting this to happen with their newest console in a few months.
Is that a headdress being used improperly (and ignorantly)? yep...
There have been a fair number of games to come out at $29.99.
Anyone know of the best pre-order deals? $40 is a bit steep all things considered...
I can't help but think Activision saw the error of their ways with CODBOD (Vita). Single player took like 45 minutes and online was laughable.
A PROPER Call of Duty game (think almost exactly like the PS3 version to be released) would be better received and likely sell well.
The first COD for Vita sold terribly because initial reviews were terrible and they never got better.
The "author" of the article clearly doesn't understand journalism, nor the gaming industry. The fact that he's still writing about the PS4 essentially negates any points he brings up.
If it was too early/too little, no one would be talking about it ;)
Sony has a few large titles announced and ready to go later in the year. The true test will be E3 (2013). The Vita NEEDS some system sellers. Doesn't matter if they are exclusive or not, but the platform needs games people WANT to play on-the-go.
For me, Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo, Grand Theft Auto, and Final Fantasy come to mind as series gamers (myself included) would like to see on the platform.
SOCOM 2 HD on PS3 AND PS Vita = instant purchase! Make them both compatible online together and I'm definitely interested.
+1000 for the Kickstarter idea. I honestly think that would be a great way to gauge interest.
Very, and I'm not being sarcastic. I think of games like where it's dark, and perhaps you put on some night goggles (green-ish light) to illuminate the surroundings. The controller could turn to green like in the game and extend that effect to your living room. Really looking forward to the usage of the light bar and speaker on the controller.
Also, I LOVE that I'll be able to plug in a headset to the controller now. instead of having to buy a wireless headset or ...
Thank you for the Metacritic ratings. Overall, the ratings are higher than they would have been in the early 2000's, and I completely agree that games are receiving higher scores than they deserve.
Now, whether that is because gaming sites/"journalists" are bending to advertising pressure, or they simply want more traffic to their site by giving a game a 9 or 10...who knows. However, I CAN tell you that in the early 2000's if a game received a 7 or 8, it was...
Drive Club. Why would Sony premiere the game at their press event only to have it overshadowed by GT6 at E3 or something? That's just bad business for Sony and 3rd-party. Sony is smart. PD has been working on GT6 ever since GT5 shipped. It's been being worked on for the PS3 since day one and PD can now work on improving upon what they already built for the GT5 engine. It's simply a matter of PD are perfectionists and I don't see them building a new engine AND getting the game ...
@Spoon_ - It's the same situation as GT3 and GT4. GT3 was OK, but GT4 was simply amazing...and that's because PD built a new engine for GT3 and that took time. For GT4 they were able to simply improve upon what they had already created.
So GT5 is the base (a good base!) and GT6 will improve upon all of that. You could easily compare it to the Uncharted series as well. First game was amazing, yet Naughty Dog some how managed to improve upon nearly EVERYTHING with the s...
Eww...though that controller looks interesting. But realistically, that thing would eat up the battery quickly and the screen/display would make the controller price ridiculous. No thanks.
Surely Sony can come up with something better than that.
Eww.
Meh, I'll just get a PS4 for the same price (and probably save some money too).
searching "PlayStation meeting 2013" yields quite a few results...

Activision needs to do right by the gamers and give us a GOOD COD title for the Vita. BOD was a joke, lets all be honest. The Campaign the laughably short and the multiplayer was extremely weak. I have high hopes that we'll get at least 8v8 with the next COD and a proper campaign...
