This should really be a list of "5 games that can save PS Vita 2013"

#4 would be Final Fantasy
#5 would be God of War

I know FFX HD is in the works, but I doubt we'll see it this year. God of War is also rumored to be in the works, so we'll see. I still think Sony should pay Square for a Final Fantasy 7 HD remake on both PS3 (or PS4) and PS Vita. Cloud saves/cross-play, and they'll move units.

No...this is the worst thing to do to consumers. Sony messed up royally when they launched the PS3 with two SKUs. I just want 1 price, one model, one simple decision.

That said, a set-top box that can play next-gen (and current-gen) Xbox games sounds quite intriguing, for the right price of course.

Good article. This is exactly why I hope the PS4 rumors are true. 1080p 60fps & 3D. If Sony can give developers hardware that can *easily* achieve those targets, then I have high hopes for next-gen. A lot of developers were quoted saying they wish the current-gen consoles had more RAM. And I'm sure they still want more with the new consoles, but really, it's all about the CPU and how much data can be processed.

Real-time calculations are generally "faked"...

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you (but I am), however, since you bring up Ubisoft;

Assassin's Creed 3 > Assassin's Creed 2 > Assassin's Creed 1

It's a simple fact that game developers will always find a way to get more out of the hardware with each new game/product that release.

I haven't read the article because the sensationalism title was all I needed to see to know what the author was trying to accomplish. Of course the devs will max out (or come close) with first-gen games. It's like build...well...anything. The first time will always take longer, not look quite as good, and cost more. With each revision you learn new ways to do "this" or "that". There really was no need for the article author to point out the obvious.

Not sure why someone disagreed. It's true, developers generally "max out" the platform they are working on...not because they've used everything they can, but simply because their game engine and methods leave a lot to be optimized over the coming years.

That's why Naughty Dog said they maxed out the PS3 with Uncharted 2...and then again with Uncharted 3. U3 was clearly a major improvement both visually and gameplay-wise. And early indications point to T...

No they won't. What people don't understand is it ALL depends on the game engine and the developers. That's why Uncharted 1 looked great...and then U2 looked even better. Oh, and then U3 looked amazing. But wait, The Last of Us somehow looks better than U3.

It's all about refining the game engine and being clever with what you have to work with. There will always be a better way to do *something*, that will lead to improvements.

Thoroughly enjoying Gravity Rush, Jet Set, and FFT. Still need to download the others. I think I'm going to pick up the Gravity Rush DLC considering I got the game for free...

Also, the new and improved browser is simply awesome. Pages load WAY faster and I can actually use it in-game now, about time Sony!

The Wii U costs $300 minimum. Yes, I agree the Vita needs to be dropped to $199 retail, but you're getting a portable console with the Vita. The Wii U is a slight upgrade to the current-gen consoles.

Pretty simple logic; lack of good games (until recently) and that $249 price. I am very curious to see how the PS Vita does next week with all of these $199 PS Vita bundles. We also have Persona 4 Golden and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale releasing next week.

From there on out not much is known, but I'm guessing Sony is banking on PS+ for the PS Vita releasing next week and the amazing list of free games that includes will tide people over until early next year.

Great article. I was actually on the fence before reading this because I haven't really gotten into the series previously, but this sold me.

If you've actually spent more than 5 minutes with the Kinect, you would understand. Netflix is a great example of this integration (see video below).

It's all about making the consoles feel like a next-gen experience. I want to be able to walk into the room and say "PlayStation/Xbox, ON" and it turns on. I want to be able to tell it to load the current game or whatever while I change out of my work cloths. If I can't find the remote, I want to say "...

I both agree and disagree with your comment. I agree that games should be about the experience, but I also disagree that the visuals could be NES and it wouldn't matter. We live in the year 2012 (almost 2013), we not only need to stay current technologically, but we deserve the visual treat for the prices we're expecting to pay ($399+).

If people want nostalgia, there are numerous systems that can offer that such as most of the current consoles and the handhelds. Bein...

More RAM and better CPUs and GPUs. We DO need better graphics, but not the huge leap everything is thinking. The rumors surrounding Sony's effort with the PS4 to enable all games to run at 1080p60fps in 3D is actually a smart move. That's all we need. Most us of have nice 1080p HDTVs at home and hardly any games that actually display that high. To have a game that can do 1080p60fps in 3D means games will look better next gen, and will also be smoother too.

What has me...

Controller (with screen) costs ~$172 in Japan. I don't foresee it coming down much when it hits the states. I would imagine $129 is the minimum to replace one should you break it...

I was indifferent to the Wii U, I will admit that, but that doesn't mean my opinion is any less valid. Had the Wii U been an amazing experience I would have posted such, but sadly, it wasn't.

Tried the Wii U last night at my local Target...not impressed. The touchpad controller it just awkward to hold. I thought it would be a bit smaller and much lighter but it's not. Yes, the graphics look good, but they are merely a small step-up from current AAA titles on the PS3 and 360.

So, a bulky controller that costs something like $150+ to replace + marginal step-up in graphics = $350? No thanks. I'll wait for a trade-in program to upgrade my PS3 to a PS4.

Sounds like they played the game before the Day 1 patch. The official forum reported that it has improved the AI on a number of tracks, as well as resolved other minor issues.

Will this make it to NA though...probably not :(

I want to get it, but it's not eligible for Target's B2G1 sale right now...
