Exactly right. I actually though Volition was doing exactly what Rockstar get lauded for... Taking the mickey out of someone else!
Exactly. And people say the 360's in trouble... MS is cleaning up! The software sales are ridiculous. Not only are they outselling the Wii which has a 30% larger base and the PS3 by a more than 2:1 ratio. This is the real reason third party developers are attracted to the 360.
As for MGS4, I'm sure it'll boost sales of PS3's but it'll only be a temporary boost. What it really needs is a price cut!
I agree lmallvol7. The old 360s were unreliable and damn loud.
Go out and grab a brand new elite and they're noticeably quieter.
@Shinro
Make sure you pick up Lost Odyssey, it was a seriously good JRPG. Plus then you can also play Fable 2, Too Human, Sacred 2, Cry On and Mass Effect. It's all good cause you'll still get to play MGS4, White Knight, etc.. :) Best of both worlds!
Your argument is correct but your claim that Sony own "at least 13% of Square Enix" is not.
Sony currently hold, as of the end of last financial year, 8.6% of Square Enix stock, compared to Enix founder and honorary chairman Yasuhiro Fukushima 21.3%, and his private company's additional 8.8%, giving him over 30% of the company. Square founder Masafumi Miyamoto owns approximately 7.1%, whilst the remaining 54%+ majority is controlled largely by American and Japanese fina...
You make exceptionally bold predictions. And as much as I love Metal Gear, MGS4 won't be breaking any sales records other than those exclusive to the Playstation brand. It's a fantastic franchise but it's also a hardcore franchise which limits its mass market appeal. If it does 6million Konami will have very big grins on their faces, personally I feel that's a tad high and 5million is more realistic. I'm sure it'll boost hardware sales but it'll only be temporary, just like GTAIV, Halo 3 and...
Exactly right. The movie industry has matured to the point where they recognise that their readership would abandon them if they chose to reveal spoilers.
I don't know why but I do. :)
Don't get me started about Zuma. I had an addiction to that thing and only recently kicked it. Please do not mention it again... lol ;o
And Carscassone is great. It's replaced the family board games as something we can all sit around and play.
"I think MS came too late to the party."
I agree, but I'd add that being a foreign company was always a major barrier to Microsoft's cause and perhaps explains their efforts to build goodwill with Japan, despite the poor sales, with hopes for future generations.
But Japan really is all about handhelds for the forseeable future and is largely irrelevant to the outcome between Sony and MS in terms of hardware. This is why we're seeing companies like Square, ...
Agreed with mistertwoturbo
Most of the time LaChance you look like a fanboy but that was a nice post and the Unreal Engine is looking great. I still marvel at Mistwalker's Lost Odyssey which even though it had some minor slow down and pop in, it made Unreal look bloody beautiful! :)
Still can't believe it's coming to 360 though! A Mass Effect JRPG looks like a pretty good description. Kudos to MS. :)
I actually think this is a move to shore up a wider offering for Western audiences whilst also building a rep in Japan for future generations.
Microsoft have already admitted Japan a lost cause this generation but you have to remember that it took Sony the PS1 to build the stellar support with the PS2, I suspect MS is attempting the same thing. Build goodwill and the sales will come (albeit a long time later). Or at least that's their hope!
Having said that Japan is...
I really couldn't agree more!
Sony's secret game has as much value as the enigma that is Alan Wake. There are great games confirmed for this year and that's all I really care about. :)
Cheers for the smirk Jenzo. You put a picture of Kaz on his knees soliciting favours. Bubbles!
"A bird at hand is worth 2 in the bush."
Exactly! Bubbles. :)
I will not have the time for so many titles, the JRPG collection on 360 just keeps growing and I just keep pinching myself to wake up!
Cry On, Infinite Undiscovery, Tales, Spectral Force 3, Blue Dragon 2, and now Star Ocean 4! And I've still got to play Fallout 3, Fable 2 and Too Human! *multiple expletives related to there not being enough hours in the day to play*...
I'm really attracted to this simply because I get sick of getting the daily newspaper for my Sudoku fix! lol
Maybe XBLA can make me more intelligent after all?! Brain Challenge, Chessmaster, Wits & Wagers and now Sudoku. Or maybe I'm even more stupid than I thought for thinking that! :/
MGS4 will be brilliant, but pulling an 85% GoTY prediction out of your arse is just silly and burdens MGS4 with an expectation it doesn't really need to stand out in its own outstanding right.
As for Konami, even if its heart was in the right place it did place unprecedented restrictions on reviewers that included technical information relevant to some consumers purchasing decisions. Nothing that would affect the score but certainly may affect some people's, particularly non-MGS...
I'm with you Fred.
Official mags, regardless of platform, are the last thing I'll trust.
My view is that journalistic standards need to be upheld and that the industry will need to take it upon itself to change it.
The recent controversies over Take Two's and Konami's behaviour, along with the Kane and Lynch fiasco between Eidos and GameSpot, have clearly illustrated that the status quo is not acceptable and it needs to change. A founding principle of j...
I'm not much interested in Last Remnant but this, Cry On and Star Ocean have my full attention. They've just got to smooth those frame rates out. :)
