Yeah I agree.

Only the original had a campaign I felt was worth writing home about. The multiplayer and user generated content is still way ahead of its time, and is what keeps bringing me back. Forge literally stands alone in the console world. :)

But a lot of Halo players love the whole Lore of Halo, the Spartans, the Arbiters, the Flood and the Convenant. Check out the Halopedia and you'll see that such obsession is rarely matched by other titles. Some fans are a...

You forget a lot of Halo players are very interested in Halo. Whether that is an FPS, RTS, RPG or Action/Adventure I don't think it really matters to many.

Add the fact that the leading RTS developers in my opinion are responsible and they have full access to Bungie assets and I'd suggest this has hit written all over it. :)

Despite that I hold all platforms of this gen plus my trusty PS2 and Gamecube if I were to recommend five titles to a PS3 owner they would be under the caveat that they must have XboxLive (otherwise the whole point of an Xbox is diminished). The titles...

4) Fable 2
3) Gears of War 1/2
2) Mass Effect

Plus Forza 2, Viva Pinata and Lost Odyssey if they wanted a couple of extras. :)

As for PS3 titles for a 360 ...

@Jenzo & RebornSpy & znu

Agree guys. The author explained the Halo hate pretty succinctly and it's well backed up by the comments here on N4G.

"You will never get a Sony fanboy to even acknowledge the prominence or quality of the Halo series, but we all know that it would have flourished on any system."

@reccodog

If you think Halo 3 is about the campaign you are sadly misinformed and/or ignorant. Halo 3's online functionali...

Yes because COD4 was a piece of crap :/ end sarcasm

Silly comment.

I agree mate. And the funny thing is, is that if such constructive criticism were given a warmer welcome we may well end up with future MGS titles (a prequel perhaps?) that far exceed MGS4.

To me the gameplay was the weakest part of the experience. Simply because beyond Act 2 it becomes an ever increasing afterthought to the cut scenes. As enjoyable as it is, it feels like lazy storytelling when you have the opportunity to make such experiences interactive given the form. I have ...

I agree mate. Deus Ex is still way ahead of its time. I also agree with the Bioshock criticisms. I was not focusing on choice so much as interactivity and the concept of telling story through gameplay rather than exposition, text, dialogue or cutscenes. All I was trying to illustrate with the games that I mentioned such as COD4 was that a plot point or event was fully interactive which is something that no other medium can do. The fact that the gameplay was the story in the kidnap, execution ...

@predator

Exactly who cares. A change of disc or a 10min install. If the game's good I'll buy it.

@highps3

I assume you're the same brand of fanboy who claimed install times/size shouldn't affect the review scores of MGS4... and yet somehow having 2 discs instead is different?! HINT: It's not about the install or the number of discs, it's whether the game itself is worth it. MGS4 most certainly was and if Forza 2 is any indication then Forza 3 will be to...

@Agent X

Take the fanboy comparisons out of here. If you are a gamer first you'd recognise that Forza and GT are actually very different beasts and are both great games in their own right.

@LJWooly

Nice, rational second post. N4G would be a better place with such a consistent level headed rationale. Although I disagreed on the specific details because Agent X's comment was clearly an intended provocation.

@bourner

Nail on the head mate. Bubbles! :)

I loved MGS4 and some of the Final Fantasy series, but they merely imitate other mediums story telling devices (most particularly film and anime), they do not innovate storytelling using the unique interactive tool set of gaming.

I'm not saying one form or the other is better, merely that gaming has the opportunity to tell its stories differently through its unique interactive element.

If I were t...

The first half is sublime... The second half is full of over indulgent cut scenes. Any serious MGS fan will lap it up, but from the end of Act 2 more casual players are likely to be lost and saying "WTF is going on? When do I play?".

I loved it but it would have been an even better game (and less an interactive film) if they maintained the balance of the first two acts all the way through.

How good is the online version!

If they just made a XBL/PSN version where you paid a minor monthly subscription (800points or something) but could play online multiplayer and have leaderboards with daily downloads I'd happily buy it. :)

Have you ever played Eternal Darkness?

Best camera ever.

That's the least of my Too Human worries... oh and there's eight different camera angles to choose from plus a toggled first person view and a Diablo birds eye view. :)

Denis Dyack is certainly confident stating over on his IGN blog at http://blogs.ign.com/silico...

"It is our best game to date. And, with our deep love for “Eternal Darkness” that is saying something!"

Now that's high praise! Can't wait. :)

If this is true it directly contradicts Tecmo's claims that this was an isolated incident and that the rest of Team Ninja were hard at work on further sequel. It would perhaps also further justify Itagaki's decision.

I just hope MS picks them up and forms a new studio.

@mistertwoturbo

That was a bit ignorant! What about the stellar studios Ensemble, Turn 10 and the largely successful arcade developer Carbonated Games? And don't forget Mistwalker and Wing...

Agreed NG2 is a great game but it has a very narrow niche audience that is firmly hardcore. It also comes from in my opinion a second tier developer.

On the other hand. Too Human appears to cater to a much broader audience, allowing players to use the different classes and skills to focus or mix up different game types such as third person shooting, combo building, hack and slash, RPG, co-op, and collectible hunting. On top of that it actually has a story (as opposed to NG2) that...

Or maybe MS is doing it deliberately to smother MGS4 coverage and to build hype and word of mouth ahead of E3?

If we get two franchises out of Silicon Knights this gen (including a full Too Human trilogy) I'll be a very happy gamer. Give me Eternal Darkness 2 and I'll be ecstatic! :)
