Yeah but you did steal this guys story and technically it is a duplicate! lol

"Journalistic ethics and integrity are important values that cannot be sacrificed for anything, especially not for the sake of shifting a few more units (IMO).
Though video games journalism is a different beast than standard journalism. The who industry thrives on "access," which obviously increases the risk and likelihood of corruption."
Great point mate. I suspect this debate, which is becoming increasingly louder, is indicative of the growing p...

Funny thing is they don't sound to unlike the real Sony fanboys!
Wow! Talk about a spanner in the works. E3 is going to be very interesting...
It's certainly a very balanced review and the lack of a score helps.
I like how he points out the amazing as well as the shortfalls, but acknowledges that really as an MGS fan you couldn't ask for anything better.
Can't wait. :)
@donator
I'm glad you get where I'm coming from.
My problem isn't with Konami or MGS4. It's with the way the industry operates as a whole and hence my call for a new set of standards for best practice.
EDIT:
@bubble and squeek
Interesting point about blowback.
If this site is any indication then you may be well right that Konami has actually created a much larger problem by restricting review details. I hope it does...
Last time I checked most of us live in democracies where freedom of speech is a key pillar of society.
Censorship is never okay.
@donator below
I understand what you're saying mate. I myself operate under NDA's. But my problem is that the lack of standards across the industry is clouding the transparency of game reviews. I think it's entirely reasonable for journalists and readers to demand that all details that could have a material impact upon a consum...
Fanboys should realise that this article, EGM's stance and my arguments are not against MGS4, rather they are against the commercial influence on journalistic integrity. This is a serious issue and goes far beyond anything to do with MGS4 and Konami.
Bubbles to clevernickname for a rational argument for journalistic integrity and transparency.
@donator below
Well in that case, surely you should agree to my earlier argument that there should be a set of ...
This issue is far bigger than MGS4.
It goes to the heart of journalistic integrity and freedom of speech. Whilst some of the restrictions placed by Konami were regarding spoilers, IGN and others have already admitted that technical issues such as load times, cut scene length and installs were also restricted. Whilst restrictions on spoilers are reasonable and to be expected, restricting a reviewer's ability to fully critique a work is wrong and in my opinion corrupt with commerci...
The simple solution would be to create a set of journalistic standards whereby such practices such as Konami restricting the freedom of speech of games journalists are not acceptable.
The standards should be a set of guidelines that journalists can adhere to if they so choose and which will clearly differentiate journalists that do and do not adhere to such standards.
These dirty PR practices are being committed left, right and centre across the industry and somethin...
Fanboys on both sides are never really interested in real news but only wild speculation and who's got the bigger "console".
Thanks for the submission it really was a good read. Bubbles. :)
Yeah it looks like a whole heap of over the top goodness. Can't wait for the coop! :)
I largely agree with you and think you made a well reasoned argument. So bubbles! :)
My personal opinion is it's all too early to tell. There are many factors that could change the console game over the following six months. Namely E3, Newton, Online changes and Price Cuts which could be advantageous to Sony or Microsoft.
We have a very good idea about games for Sony next year but Microsoft seems to be taking a much more cautious approach and hasn't announced much if...
@Gun
You just said it all for me.
IT'S A MATTER OF OPINION.
I'd only add that no one here has played either, including the article's author, so how can one judge?
@tab553 and from the beach
Agree guys. The irony that none of these fanboys have played MGS4 yet and can nonetheless make conclusions on review scores is as thick as the matter between their ears. Wanting an Ocelot like dictatorship over who can and can't review their beloved franchises is laughable.
I've said it elsewhere and I'll say it here:
Art is subjective and that's the very reason it exists and has value. One person's masterpiece is another perso...
Wow! 14 teams within ten points of the Patriots. Can't wait. :)
It's for all downloaded content so that'll include Xbox Originals.
A DRM patch will be released in June to correct this issue and allow users to transfer licenses across consoles. MS announced this last month after renegotiating licensing agreements with its business partners.

And yes they need to fix it as soon as possible.
Halo 3 multiplayer is still ahead of its time. The matchmaking, game type diversity, custom games, 4player co-op campaign, screenshots, film capture, and in particular forge all far exceeded any game of its time and in many ways still do almost nine months on.
The single player was above average but really wasn't all that special until you turned the difficulty up and the AI was noticeably tougher.
I think many people miss why Halo 3 was so highly rated for its time....
