Neither is false or as Super puts it fake. Both are reporting on the same data. But this article regards all titles across all platforms, whilst the other ranks titles as exclusives.

Same data but different story angles. You two should learn to read. lol

Haha! That last bit about babies was almost Colbert worthy. Bubbles!

My sticking point with Private Ryan was it was of the Patton variety of films with flag waving galore and American triumphalism, which in my opinion is just as bad on a historical/philosophical level as the cynicism of Platoon. All are great movies and convey the insurmountable horrors of war, but none have the balance or complexity of Eastwood's recent duo Flags and Letters which both showcased empathy and unde...

LOL! Funny thing is if you look at any of my posts on MGS4 threads I heap praise on the bloody thing. The first two Acts are particularly awesome. :p

Anyways, bubbles for some sense amongst the insanity. :)

MGS4 is a fantastic game but it has a far smaller niche market or as Kojima succinctly put it, "it's for the fans." Halo 3 was an unprecedented sales freak for a single platform release. And GTAIV was a behemoth of a multiplatform. And whilst all sales fall after their first week, just like Hollywood blockbusters, the raw numbers are massively different and speak greatly to the different levels of consumer appeal of each title (but not necessarily their perceived quality).

Last I heard US doesn't get it till late July.

As for wetting your appetite, Civ Rev is fantastic and it deserves all the kudos, and I hope sales, that it gets. It's all I've played the last week, except for the odd MGO and NG2. In fact it stopped me playing MGS4 on my PS3 and brought me back to the 360 for achievements and online multi. It's easily the best strategy title I've ever played on a console and the increased pace, combat emphasis and reduced micromanagement make it a ...

@timmyrulz

Mate I enjoyed MGS4 thoroughly but have since drifted off to Civilization Revolution and occasionally the tough as nails, with crappy camera NG2.

I agree wholeheartedly with all three of your comments and have given bubbles for your respectful tone and reasoned arguments.

Nice work. :)

Mate that's the biggest off topic rant I think I've ever seen on N4G! lol

But beneath all that you raise a valid point. I would love to see both sides playable in COD5, just as it is in the upcoming Battlestations: Pacific. I only hope they take a cue from Clint Eastwood (Flags & Letters movies) and present war as a far more complex story for both sides than the Saving Private Ryan propaganda of good guys and bad guys we are so regularly fed.

As for your history ...

I could easily have said look at Kojima Productions!

Factor 5 is not in the same league as Rare, and Lair was a completely unrelated franchise to the well received Star Wars titles on N64 and GameCube. But other than that there's not much to write home about.

In comparison Rare has a history of exceptional success with the exact same franchise we're discussing. In addition it is one of the greatest developers in console history (over 25years) creating groundbreaking ...

Did I push your buttons much?! lol

Bottom line is you accused Kotaku of bias within the above article. That was entirely incorrect and as pointed out by the thewhoopimen, JOY, JoelR (below) and myself, Kotaku came out in defence of MGS4.

As for the rest of your rant. I don't consider your posting history balanced and I don't inherently consider myself above others. In regards to bubbles well I'd suggest that they are the closest thing to a universal measure of how th...

Yeah I kind of agree. I think you may need some toothpaste! lol

Despite my reservations with Treyach, the reality is that they had 8 months to do COD3 which to me is amazing as although the campaign was uninspired and short, the multiplayer was great fun and preceded the leveling system in COD4. In COD5's case they've had over 2years to develop with a well established engine, a new setting, darker/gorier tones and increased multiplayer game modes and options. Even early previews ...

Then I don't think it matters whether the connection pays off! Both are/will be great games in their own right.

Currently Ratchet & Clank has a very well deserved Metacritic of 89, and sales of approximately 1.2m.

In contrast Rare's previous entries in the Banjo Franchise have received 92 & 90 Metacritics respectively and well in excess of 3million copies of each were sold worldwide.

Add the MS Marketing muscle to Rare's esteemed pedigree and the...

Well I'm a PS3 fan and a 360 fan and most importantly an old school N64 fan and I can't wait! :)

PS: WTF are PS3 fanboys doing in a 360 thread? Oh that's right it's N4G... ;(

Another N4G fanboy who doesn't read the full article!

If you had read the Times piece you would have noted that the supposedly biased Kotaku actually came out in defence of MGS4 stating

"Kotaku.com argue that, coherent or not, the narrative of Metal Gear Solid 4 is an inseparable part of the “package experience” that makes it an evolutionary step beyond fare like Halo 3, a first-person shooting game designed to soothe itchy trigger fingers.

Metal Ge...

It's the best analysis and explanation of what VGChartz is and makes some sensible arguments about the misleading nature of some estimates being reported as fact. The altering of estimates post NPD, whilst an acceptable part of an analysts job, does raise a number of issues with transparency and whether VG should release any data before the release of Chart Track, NPD, etc...

Their lack of data sources at retail is a major concern for me to. Basing estimates off of 3% of retaile...

@theExecutive.

Generally more recent previews have been overwhelmingly positive with the only caveat being that the game is obviously a deep and lengthy experience and needs more than the hour journalists were given at the recent showcase to appreciate it.

As for the author dissing Silicon Knights. Well if history is any guide and does in fact repeat itself then this game will have incredible depth and innovation in terms gameplay and...
