@DoctorFry - Your opinion about Left Behind while not laughable because your entitled to it, is definitely in the extreme minority.
From the article: "With today’s economy and the growing expenses of living plus the stress of daily life, people who are avid gamers like to escape for a few hours into these rich worlds that they spent their rent or food money on." Well, drug addicts spend their rent and food money on drugs to escape. Should they be entitled to free drugs from their dealer because of the economy and stress of daily life? I'm not trying to compare gaming to drug addiction but this sentence seems...
Well if I could afford a high end PC with a 4k display I would definitely invest in one but, I'd still keep my PS4 because of franchises like Infamous, Uncharted, God of War, Gran Turismo, Until Dawn and JRPGS like Persona, Shin Megami Tensei and Disagea. I also plan to keep my PS3, Wii and X360 to play last generation's games. I'm not into Halo or Gears Of War but the X1 has a few games out or coming that I'd like to play (Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break, Rare Replay and may...
@BitbyDeath - From the article: "Whether Sony will manage to keep the headset affordable will probably make or break Project Morpheus." VR will only be a game changer if it's affordable. Imo, if the headset retails for more than $200.00 US, Project Morpheus is going to be a niche product. If Sony can mass produce an affordable VR headset and it's supported with decent games, Sony may have a hit on their hands.
@MichelLito - No game is a must buy. I don't like FPS and racing games so, I'm not interested in Halo and Forza. Tomb Raider will be available on the X360 at the same time as the X1, on PC in January and on the PS4 next fall so, I don't have to buy an X1 to play it. Don't need to buy the Gears remaster because I can play the original on my X360. See where I'm going with this?
@FallenAngel - Halo 5 and Uncharted 4 could be released on the same day and both sell like hot cakes. They're exclusives, and they represent different genres so, they don't directly compete with each other.
@Payta - Uncharted and Halo represent different genres - they're not really comparable. That said, I would not be surprised to see Uncharted 4 have a similar attach rate on the PS4 as the attach rate for Halo 5 on the X1. If that turns out to be the case, given the relative install bases for the X1 and PS4, Uncharted 4 could end up outselling Halo 5 quite handily.
@Kavorklestein - Even if Uncharted were being released at the same time as Halo 5, it wouldn't be competing with Halo 5. They're exclusives on different platforms.
Physical copies of games provide more value to the consumer. We can sell, trade, or lend the game to whomever we choose. Of course, for obvious reasons, Gamestop prefers bundles with physical games. But, we don't have to sell/trade our games to Gamestop. We have other options. In this case, the interests of Gamestop and the consumer are aligned.
@Father_Merrin - 60 million by xmas 2016 is an exaggeration. Ltd sales of the PS4 for 21-22 months are somewhere between 25-26 million. Another 35 million over the next 16 months, even with a big price cut and big ips releasing, would be almost impossible. It would be amazing if Ltd sales reach 45 million over that time period.
@Mr_InterNational - Uncharted and SF5 are two very different games and appeal to different fan bases. They are not in direct competition. Uncharted will sell extremely well regardless of how well SF5 sells.
He should spend less time sitting around and spend more time engaging in activities that will improve his spiritual and physical well being. Partying with famous people ain't the ticket to a better life.
Sounds like he's having a hard time finding a girlfriend. Maybe he should spend some of that free time he has going to the gym, losing some weight and getting his spiritual house in order. Money might buy you sex from gold diggers and sex workers but, it ain't going to make you physically or spiritually attractive or buy you love.
I hope that at least some of Sony's first party studios Project Morpheus games will also be playable without the actual vr headset. I'm a little concerned that Sony may be putting too much emphasis on vr and not enough emphasis on standard AAA games. At this point in time, we have don't know what the retail price for the headset is going to be. If it costs about the same or more than the PS4 itself, it's not, imo, going to be more than a niche product.Sony has a good thing go...
@RPGrinder "You freaking realize this article involves Nintendo right?" Yeah but it's an article about consoles not handhelds like the 3DS. And,"Sony has not supported Vita, not really." Why do you keep bringing up handhelds in a console discussion? You're not on-topic.
@susanto "Means @#@#@ too me since I don't play neither and PC sales generate more than all combined worldwide." If it means @#@#@ to you why did you bother to comment on this article about console sales?
@Live-Larry - "Wouldn't that warrant a "Trolling" or "Off-topic" bubble down?" I gave timlot a bubble down for being off-topic and a disagree to go with it. Didn't give him one for trolling but that was because he may be stating factual data. It is a fact that MS has a lot more assets than Sony but that has little to do with the profitability of said companies gaming divisions. So far, it seems no action has been taken against timlot for being off-topic. ...
This game is getting plenty of good press and exposure without a big marketing campaign behind it. Not every game has to have a multi-million add campaign to sell well. Pretty sure that Until Dawn is going to sell very well for a new IP. It's selling well on Amazon and at other major retailers in its first week of release.
In the era of patched games, Digital Foundry's analysis on a game that has not been released is, imo, pretty much irrelevant.
Big 3rd party AAA blockbuster games move both PS4 and X1 consoles. In the case of MGSV, the PS4 version of the game is probably moving a lot more PS4s than X1s in the UK, where the X1 is still competitive with the PS4, and the rest of Europe because of the limited edition MSGV console bundle. I'm pretty sure MSGV PS4 is not going to outsell MSGV X1 72% to 22% in the USA simply because Sony, for some unfathomable reason, decided not to release the MSGV limited edition bundle in the USA. S...
