Reading that article gave me a headache. Dude - learn how to write. Arrgh, my head hurts.
The Japanese definitely like to play games on their smart phones - the console market is not healthy in Japan and the handheld market is also losing market share to smart phones. So it makes sense that a Japanese centric company like Nintendo would go after the casual smart phone market. If the NX turns out to be a smart phone/handheld/console hybrid, it may do very well in Japan but it's unlikely, imo, to do well elsewhere.
@Rookie - PSN is the only other console network that offers Rocket League and a release date for NX hasn't been announced so; it's more than likely that the other console network MS is referring to is PSN. Not sure why you're bringing up a console that hasn't even been revealed yet.
@feraldrgn - I actually believe Phil is sad about the cancellation of Fable Legends. After all, he's the head of the Xbox and the cancellation of this game after MS invested in it and hyped it for several years won't exactly look good to his superiors at MS.
Wow! Classic R@C game play with current gen graphics. I love this franchise and have pre-ordered the game. Can't wait to play it.
@Channel-Live - How is this a flamebait article when it just states the facts!
@vallencer - Yeah, a lot of companies will try to squeeze as much loyalty and blood out of you until the last moment and then fire your ass on a Friday afternoon when you're looking forward to the weekend. They don't do it to keep up morale; they do it to avoid confrontation. There's nothing moral about this practice.
@r2oB - MS does not own Remedy Studios so, I don't know how you can compare Remedy with Lionhead Studios since MS can't close an independent studio.
That said, Remedy may want to reconsider their relationship with MS/Xbox after QB releases and look for a more secure partnership elsewhere.
The author of this article doesn't like consoles - he pretty much wants them all to die. Biased crap article - imo.
@Death "As consumers we need to take the information we are given and form our own thoughts and opinions based on this information and on what we have seen in the past." I've done exactly this, I've formed my own opinions and I've come to the conclusion that Phil plays at being an upfront guy when he really isn't. Personally, I haven't been mislead by MS or Phil because I've been able to see through their/his ambiguous PR BS. My comment was intended for the m...
For those of you who think Phil is the second coming of JC and take everything he says at face value this is a prime reason for you to question your faith. Phil's allegiance is to MS first. He is not, as many here on N4G believe he is, a straight talker, rather; he is just another PR suit who will say anything to put his company in the best light. If that means misleading the consumer, then so be it.
@343_Guilty_Spark - Phil's been saying a lot of things lately. He's not always clear in his statements and he's definitely not infallible. Just because he's stated that there will be another Xbox doesn't mean there will be. He's not the CEO of MS and MS may decide they don't want to bother with another console. Hence all the talk about using Windows 10 as a gaming platform.
From the article: "This is (BC) something that Playstation desperately needs to keep their competitive edge in the console war." Lol. I'd love it if the PS4 had BC but the PS4 without BC obviously still has the competitive edge in the "console war."
Imo MS, from a PR point of view, handled the release of QB on PC poorly. MS should have at least thrown Xbox 1 owners a bone by making QB a timed exclusive before releasing it on the PC a couple of months later. Sure, people would've still been upset but probably not to the same degree.
@Raposaninja - UC4 hasn't gone gold yet so, no, they weren't already compressing discs
@christoclus - imo, an upgradable console PC hybrid is an oxymoron. Console hardware is by definition, not upgradable. If MS decides to go with the upgradable option for the Xbox 'console' brand, they're basically just throwing in the towel on the console space because an upgradable console is just a PC. That said, it may be quite profitable for MS to produce a line of Xbox branded gaming PCs.
@insigma - Many people are excited for QB but non Xbox fans don't have to buy an Xbox One to play it. QB may have been a "huge system seller!" had it remained exclusive to Xbox One although given the performance of recent Xbox One exclusives, both timed and otherwise, I doubt it. So far, there is no factual evidence that QB will move a lot of Xbox One units. Halo 5 under-performed, ROTTR under-performed and Sunset Overdrive under-performed. None of these games proved to be &quo...
It's not an audacious plan rather; it's a practical plan. It's simple really, the Xbox One is not selling as well as MS had hoped so, MS decided to expand the Xbox brand to the PC/Windows 10 platform earlier than they had planned. Imo, if the X1 was selling anywhere near the number of units the PS4 is, Quantum Break would have at least been a timed X1 exclusive.
@GamePeace AC: Black Flag is ,imo, a great game and was well received critically. You may not have liked it (did you even play it?) but plenty of gamers did.
QB is receiving generally good reviews. It seems that people think that when a game doesn't receive scores in the mid 80's or above it's a critical flop - that's a ridiculous and illogical standard imo.
