Anime was a mistake.

I understand that having a bottom line score has convenience, and that's the #1 appeal I have with review scores in general. However, I believe "irreparable damage" is an ENORMOUS exaggeration.

Yes, gamers rarely read the entire review, sticking to scores or the bulleted lists at the end. But you don't need a number to dictate a game's success or failure. Look at a game like Deadly Premonition, a game that got polarizing scores across the board. If anyth...

As broken a system as Metacritic is and as irresponsible as some reviewers are, the big issue is the whole bonus incentive deal. I'm seeing a lot of consensus on what this article says and I have to agree.

Geez, so much hype for whatever Rare's cooking up. I hope we don't have to wait too much longer to find out what it is.

The girl gamers I know aren't put off by these phrases, but by the women who get offended by the phrases. They just want to play games and not hear about what a female gamer "should be."

Seriously, I encourage more people to actually talk to real girl gamers. I'm not talking about girls you meet in an online Call of Duty match or that you see in Youtube videos. Go to a game night, game club, or convention, and talk to real girl gamers in person. Trust me, th...

The irony is that while RE4 fixed many of the problems the series was suffering from at the time, we're now dealing with numerous new problems brought about by the same game, only Capcom has made them even worse in 5, 6, and Raccoon City.

I do. It doesn't feel like Nintendo is competing with other companies. It's straight-forward and to-the-point. I like it.

This is a Kojima game. I won't believe any of this until I see it for myself.

This line just made me crack up.

@coolbeans

You said yourself that people accused Lucas for portraying racist themes in his work. If you meant "stereotypes", that's not the same as racism. Racism is prejudice. Stereotypes are not necessarily that, but that can very well LEAD to racism. Saying the word "racism", as I said before, is loaded. VERY loaded. You cannot use that term positively whatsoever. Saying that something stereotypes, on the other hand, can simply be a critique of his ...

Ideologies are given life through those who use them. Without anyone using them, they become archaic and ultimately die out. Your George Lucas example puzzles me because if Lucas isn't a racist, then why did they call him one? Where did the claim of racism come from? Racist, like sexist, is a very loaded term; a lot of people forget that. The problem I have with modern ideological criticism is that the people who determine whether something is offensive are the...

1998 will always be the best year in gaming history. I dunno what this guy's talkin' about.

You can't have objectivity, because you're always, ALWAYS speaking from your own point of view. Even by saying an objective fact, you're speaking subjectively. You're choosing to say one thing over another, therefore injecting your bias even while speaking an "objective statement." That's like saying "this is good" as opposed to "this is good...but it could've been better." Those two statements have a HUGE difference in meaning, simply bas...

"according to this blog we should shut down all talk of it completely"

Well, that can't be done...because she's already locked down discussion of this. There's no way to know what she wants to happen because there's no discussion to be had. No one knows exactly what she wants because she's not saying anything and she's refusing to elaborate or be specific. When people ask her what to do, she either ignores them or passive aggressively tells h...

"the argument is 'women shouldn't look like this all the time'"

That is absolutely nowhere near what this woman is saying. She attacks these "tropes" tooth-and-nail. I don't think you understand how loaded the word "sexist" or "misogynistic" is. By definition, "misogynistic" implies hatred toward another gender and she is saying game developers are doing that with their games.

She is trying to ...

"women in a less than favourable light"

Okay, listen: I talk to a lot of female gamers. This "how women should look" idea is garbage. It is absolute trash, and here's why: not every woman is the same. Some women like expressing their sexuality. It's the reason we have characters like Bayonetta and why women like cosplaying as her: she's empowering. She is a way to present a strong female character that uses her sexual nature in a confident way....

SYAC. Clickbait headlines are not cool, brah. My mind is not blown and will continue to remain unblown as long as headlines like these are used.

If you want to get deeper into this, just watch the video or go to MatPat's channel. Game Theory are good at what they do.
