Has Nintendo been taking advertising lessons from Sony? *recalls the squirrels*
Seriously, though, Nintendo; check your tweet before posting.
You know who ELSE likes playing Mortal Kombat X? MY MOM!
Cited sources? An organized bibliography? Academic approaches with cultivation theory? Details of the method of study? Statistics?
...and people are discrediting this, eh? Wow. What a delusion they're in. Kudos to the scientists.
Oh, playable demos are still around. You just have to pay or pre-order for them now.
It's 2015, by the way. Not 1993.
"That doesn’t mean I don’t want to discuss it. That doesn’t mean I don’t want it being discussed on this site. It simply means that I am not the person to do it."
You just did. Narrow-mindedly, in fact, and you didn't offer a single female perspective from your staff in this article saying that women should have a perspective on this. The hypocrisy is mind-blowing.
"Therefore, we have decided that we will forgo any further in-depth discussi...
Just because they can doesn't mean they should.
It means that the developers in question are being smart instead of rushing a game to meet a release date. Nintendo and Naughty Dog saw what happened last year and are actually taking care of their prized projects. Good on em.
I personally don't like reviewing a game until full release. Update posts or early previews are okay, but a review implies analysis of a product that the developer believes is complete enough to be out of early access.
Of course, this current gaming climate makes this whole situation rather complicated, so it's tough to say exactly. My two cents, though.
Best thumbnail choice ever.
OT: What a bizarre experiment. Can't call it much of a game, but it's interesting, I guess.
"The way female characters, female developers and female gamers are treated today is wrong."
That's it. That's where you already signified your total failure and lack of self-awareness when tackling this subject. The second you say that you can speak for every single woman in this industry is the second that you oppress them and silence their right to speak for themselves. That's sexism by definition.
I know girl gamers. Lots of them and...
That's not the gaming community's fault. If people are scared off by the word "game", despite there being thousands of different games of enormous design variety out right now, that's on them. Games are varied and diverse. If you're too lazy to find the nuances and creativity, and instead discredit the medium by the word "game", that's your fault.
The rest of us will enjoy the boatload of diversity we have.
That would be terrible. That's like calling a movie a "motion narrative" or a music album a "recorded soundscape." It's trying to soften the language and make it politically correct.
So, Forbes, what's the solution then?
Should we mention that a game is incredibly difficult and downgrade it for that? Should we retool reviews to talk about things that less-experienced folks in the community would know about? I don't see what exactly they want to do to improve this, or even if it CAN be improved.
A game not being for everyone is a given. It could be said of every game ever made ever. So why is it now a problem? What about Bloodborne...
Tried it out myself and I'm pretty impressed. :)
Nintendo only announced the NX to reassure folks that they aren't abandoning the console market for mobile, so counting out the Wii U seems illogical to me right now.
Like you said, we know nothing about it. Not a design, interface, launch window, potential games, nothing.
Zelda gets delayed and all of a sudden the Wii U is worthless, huh, Vice?
You do realize that "National Cleavage Day" is supported and endorsed by female representatives of Wonderbra? Wonderbra was designed to give comfort and mobility to women so they could be more active, including in the workplace. The day was also used to support communities in African nations via various charity events.
Also, I think telling women what they can or can't do with their bodies is a little controlling and domineering.
Perhaps, even.....
Not so much a rant. More a concise "I won't put up with idiots" thing. He gets a lot of garbage on his feed from people who don't read.
And don't get me started on the fuzzballs...PSP ads were consistent in their "quality."
