"the series died with RE4 which we all agree was brilliant, but killed the franchise."

I really don't see how that makes sense. I know a lot of long-time fans hate Resident Evil 4 because of its effect on the series, and to a degree, I can see the spooky appeal of the tank controls and static cameras. However, Resident Evil 4 was a way to make survival horror palatable to everyone again, not just the fans.

It didn't kill the series because t...

Capcom thought that the shooting was the only reason why people liked RE4, so they amped up the action and toned down the horror for 5 and 6, leaving a series that wasn't scary anymore.

VR Wing Cap Mario sounds like the best thing ever, but also the most nauseating.

Capcom's trying to use the awesome nature of RE4 to distract everyone from how bad 5, 6 and Operation Raccoon City were. Also, nice use of the Egoraptor cartoon embedded into the review body.

Not sure. There aren't many series in Nintendo's immediate library that are too VR-friendly (or even first-person), but if any company can adapt to unique hardware like this, it's Nintendo.

I doubt they will revive this the right way, but...dinosaurs?

It's sad how there's some fake law on the internet stating that you can only have one console.

4354d ago 5 agree0 disagreeView comment

Where have you been over the course of the last decade or so? Console horsepower has never led to first place; Nintendo's proven that time and again. Hell, the PS2 was the least powerful system of its generation, but Sony sold them. LOTS of them.

Sony won't succeed with horsepower. Instead, Sony is using the PS4 right. They're giving it games. Exclusive games. You know, the things that you buy a system for. The resolution argument is downright pathetic, because th...

Maybe he just enjoyed the games more. What else is there to explain? He's not saying that it's the best system ever made of all time and all other systems suck. He just said that he liked the Gamecube's library more.

The subjectivity here couldn't be more obvious.

Talk about "out of the blue." Curious to see it in HD on PS4.

"In fact, THE ONLY REASON there should be a Wii U version is because this is also coming to PS3/360."

There is nothing here that signifies a technical excuse exclusively. You said "the only reason", stating that there's no inherent benefit to releasing it across multiple platforms including the Wii U (whether legal, financial, or technical), but that it's on the PS3 and 360. That's it. That's what I was talking about in my last comment.

Metroid Prime: Hunters was incredible. Very robust options for a handheld game, and surprisingly functional controls.

Well, I certainly apologize for that, but Rayman Legends is 1080p, as are Wind Waker HD and Bayonetta 2, 60fps too. The point I'm making is that the Wii U is capable of doing these technical levels, and it's not some secret limited to just Nintendo's knowledge. It's possible if the effort is there.

Square doesn't want to make a Wii U version because the system isn't selling. That's what they're really saying. Also...

"...while its not an actual physical thing you can buy..."

Crap, it would've been great to set up a scene with Kojima joining Batman, Spongebob and Harry Potter fighting against the Green Goblin and his army of firefighters and construction workers.

I bring that argument up around my friends and some of them just go ballistic.

Square, just say that the Wii U isn't selling enough to your liking. Just be honest instead of making stupid excuses like these:

1. "It doesn't fit."
Well then make a game for Wii U that does. It's not hard. I'd take that argument better if there was an alternative game on Wii U, but there's nothing. Not even an eShop game.

2. That native 1080p argument
There are a LOT of games that run 1080p natively on Wii U, ma...

Sony seems to be doing pretty well on exclusives these days. If you don't like any of them, that's your preference, but they are there.

It's one thing to be ousted from a job due to not meeting a sales quota (which is already very sad), but it's another to disband a studio because the head guy just decides to work on "smaller projects." There's no way to know when your job is safe or not in the industry.

This poor job security is what's scaring away fresh and innovative talent from entering the game industry. And when that happens, we don't get games like Bioshock Infinite. We ge...

The biggest problem is not establishing market presence or preserving the brand or even dodging microtransactions. The big issue is this: playing a Mario game exclusively on a touch screen just doesn't work.

There's no tactile feedback and it's difficult to make precise jumps when the buttons are simple touchscreen overlays. You do know where the button starts or ends, so it's easy to slip up and fall to your death. And no one should have to buy a controller p...
