Didn't we hear this last generation?
I agree that it's the appeal of streaming and sharing gameplay. Sony integrated things like Twitch streaming deep into the PS4's feature architecture, and in this age of Let's Plays, people love seeing facecam reactions with their gameplay. The camera fits in perfectly with that mentality.
Sony should've prepared for its popularity better, considering they hyped sharing and streaming so much.
It's a GOOD score, not great.
They're not my only source, but I really like the way they're written. The reviewers have great ways of writing; it reads less mechanically and more creatively, while still offering a solid, legitimate critique of the game.
I think the first comment I saw on this article sums up my views on this article perfectly:
"Never suggest that a first party franchise be turned into a third party franchise just so you can play it on your preferred system. It's an incredibly stupid idea that should never pass the lips of any competent gaming journalist."
Will their excuse be for the "10th anniversary of Resident Evil 4"?
This. No one reads every single review and gets every single viewpoint. We're known to gravitate toward review sources that we find to be in tune with our own, whether in opinion or in how they review.
Making everyone follow the same weighting wrecks the opinion side of the review, the inherent guts of it. We need variety in preference. Otherwise, we wouldn't need so many reviews. We'd only need one, because they'd all follow identical weighting.
That's the working of a great open-world game: one where you are bombarded with fun, distracting, engaging side-quests and never touch the main quest.
I'm sure it'd be an incredible game, but everyone was mad that Retro wanted to make Tropical Freeze instead of a new Metroid, so they'd go completely insane if a third was announced from Retro.
The owners with bad experiences will always be the outspoken ones. No one makes a big sensationalist headline if their console is working perfectly fine. That's why we mostly hear about hardware issues in these kinds of stories: because the vast majority of perfectly okay cases are never reported. They don't need to be.
And like you said, kayoss, all hardware fail or have some issue at launch. I think that if they're trying to make a big deal about a hardware defe...
While I do wish for a straight-ahead linear Castlevania similar to Super Castlevania IV, I can't deny Symphony of the Night's awesomeness. Hopefully that kind of gameplay will continue in this series, perhaps alongside the traditional linear style.
Exactly. Vita has enough ports already. A new Borderlands on Vita would be incredible.
"HDCP off"
That's all I needed to hear. Good times ahead.
Mobile gaming isn't bad. It's when the negative aspects of mobile gaming start appearing in console/dedicated handheld gaming that it becomes a bad thing.
I don't think they're in good enough spirits to return after Microsoft caused them to drop a number of promising projects like Banjo Threeie, projects that the designers were passionate about creating.
Microsoft's been nothing but a bad memory to them now.
Tell that to all of the people who write and submit articles telling Nintendo to go third-party because the Wii U is selling so badly.
Under Nintendo's mindset, losing creative and financial control over their properties and products is admitting defeat. That's what happened to Sega, and now they're tanking harder than ever. Their relevancy has been crippled significantly.
This article is in response to the people who believe a single "failed...
That's encouraging, but all of the talent behind those N64 gems like Banjo-Kazooie have departed Rare. It'll be difficult to recapture that magic in this kind of condition.
We all have to wait. That's the art of any major franchise. I think the other comments in this N4G submission have already proven how petty this article's message is.
This isn't the kind of game that should be reserved for a single store upon initial release.
Let him revive Metroid Dread. Good things are sure to happen.
