It's ironic that the clause was put in place to keep paces with Microsoft's rivals, but instead is convincing indie developers to pass on Xbox One, keeping awesome releases off the system and on other platforms.
It'll get released on other platforms down the line; that's pretty much a given. Still, timed exclusivity has helped Nintendo in the past, especially with the indies. Mutant Mudds Deluxe sold best on Wii U, more than the other systems combined.
Either way, I'm interested. Stealth Inc. was a neat game.
Between discounted PC versions, Steam sales, and Humble Bundles, yeah, the expensive myth doesn't hold.
In all honesty, I think they do. They just don't have the money to invest in one.
It's not a must-have, but I don't regret investing in one for a second.
If Nintendo isn't going to have an E3 press conference, they need to have an alternative option with scope. They need to flex their muscles and avoid hiding behind Nintendo Direct's calming wooden background. I wasn't too off-put by the Direct last year, but it didn't really express much confidence from Nintendo. It seemed, for lack of a better phrasing, too quiet.

I really could care less about online competitive multiplayer. I prefer local multiplayer and/or the ability to extend your single-player campaign with additional content.
Online play with strangers is a big pit of caffeine and insults directed at one's mother.
Really, these are great offerings. If you have Xbox Live Gold, these two games are great. There are really two problems here:
1. PS+ is still better. Dust and SR3 are awesome games that anyone should play and it shows that Games For Gold is improving. However, Instant Game Collection is still a much better value.
2. As with all of the other Games for Gold offerings, it's not enough of a selection. If you already own either of these games, that makes this ...
Targeting the Xbox One specifically on this is ridiculous, as Microsoft's track record on HD remasters is actually rather concise (at least first-party).
As to whether we need more HD remasters as a whole, I'd say no. I think the Tomb Raider situation was a blatant cash-grab, and while I think there have been some great HD remakes over the years (the Team ICO collection and the Wind Waker HD game are two that come to mind), a majority of these remasters are unneeded. ...

I don't really consider this one a "mistake" personally, but I'll agree with your over-arching message. It would be really cool to see a stronger, more improved console from Nintendo next time. I can't argue against that.

We get doom articles from everyone everywhere. The current trifecta of doom bait is Wii U, Xbox One, and Vita. You cannot tell me that all three of those are doing "the worst." If something's not first place, that doesn't mean it's doing "the worst."

Saw the Super Mario Galaxy 2 picture and instantly knew they'd talk about the Hell Valley Sky Trees.
I kinda find it weird that Dark Souls is the common term used to refer to really tough video game difficulty and not Demon's Souls.
I really think that Demon's Souls was the big innovator for the series and Dark Souls picked up the spoils and the popularity.
Among the Sleep is definitely one to look out for. Looks really neat.
