"so that people get an idea of who is the true champion in europe"

Why don't these charts from Sweden, Italy, France, etc. have actual numbers? Maybe because even though PS3 outsells 360 in the smaller gaming countries, the actual numbers would be laughably small compared to the countries where the 360 leads.

Without actual numbers, these charts are meaningless.

"European sales...the truth Microsoft wants to hide from you. "Pay no attention top the world's largest sales territory behind the curtain!"

360 seems to do pretty well in England, the largest gaming country in the so-called largest territory.

I'd like to see a link to some reliable numbers that back up your opinion that Europe is the largest gaming territory.

EDIT: Not to mention, these charts don't show actual numbers, so there is ...

Xbox 360 has 5 exclusives rated 90 or higher on Metacritic. PS3 has 4. I don't know why is is constantly stated on N4G that somehow Sony has "better" or "higher quality" exclusives - it's about as even as could be. There is no monopoly on exclusives.

EDIT @1.9 - So now the N4G fortune tellers and Nostradamus wannabes are going to try to predict the quality of upcoming games months in advance of their actual releases, and somehow try to pass it off as a ma...

MS's best selling 360 SKU is the pro, which includes the hard drive. Go ahead and lump all Playstation producs together if it helps you spin the numbers better. But, the facts are these:

PS3 competes with Xbox 360
PSP competes with Nintendo DS - NOT Xbox 360
PS2 competed with (and defeated) Xbox and Gamecube - NOT Xbox 360

BTW Eagle - can you name a country that accounts for more sales than the U.S.? You would have to lump dozens of countries tog...

If cables are that cheap, than Sony really has no excuse for not including them with the console.

EDIT: - It doesn't have to be HDMI cables either, component cables are cheaper and still provide HD visuals. This seems to be in direct contrast with the point of the article. If Sony was loking for ways to slash prices, not including HD cables would make sense. But if Sony is focusing on profitability, than they should use some of that profit to include at least 1 HD cable wit...

Exactly! People (mostly PS3 fanboys) like to discount U.S. sales by saying "the U.S. is not the world". The US alone accounts for 30-40% of all worldwide sales. There is NO other country on earth that makes even HALF of that impact. The U.S. winner has ALWAYS been the overall winner in every console war - the same cannot be said for Europe or Japan.

He says that the new prices have already been entered into Gamestop's system. Does anyone here work at Gamestop, or know someone who does, and can verify that?

While there may be a little (very little) media bias, that is why I like to look at metacritic. By using 20, 30, or 40 different sources and averaging the scores, the biased review (both positive and negative) will have little to no impact on the final rating.

BTW -I'm also a Patriots fan. The 16-0 season followed by a Super Bowl loss was pretty painful.

Despite the popular sentiment on this site, 360 actually has great games too, that is why it continues to sell very well. Look at Metacritic:

PS3 exclusives rated 90 or higher - 4
360 exclusives rated 90 or higher - 5

The whole "360 has no games" arguement is dead with the people that matter most - consumers (i.e. - the 99.9% of people who don't read these forums).

A good lineup on paper is NO guarantee of success, either. Just ...

MS slashed their prices in a fire sale? Xbox 360's primary, best selling SKU,the Pro, started at $399 - it's now $299 - a 25% drop over 3+ years. By contrast, PS3's primary SKU, the 60GB (now 80GB), started at $599 - it's now $399 - a 33% drop in only 2+ years. Now, PS3 fanboys want it to drop to $299. That would be a full 50% drop in less than 3 years - unprecedented in console history. Now that would be more of a fire sale.

Funny how PS3 fanboys criticize Microsoft for...

Exactly where is your information coming from? Look at Metacritic:

360 exclusives rated 90 or higher - 5 - plus several XBLA exclusives

Quality does matter, and despite what you think, the PS3 does not have a monopoly on quality exclusives. You are too blinded...

Eagle21 - you're so obsessed with awards. Do you watch only Oscar-winning movies? Do you listen only to Grammy-winning recording artists? If you do, you are sure missing a lot.

Yeah, people were tricked into buying Halo 3. That's why 2 years, 8 million copies and millions of online games later, it's still being played relentlessly. Can you name any other game with that kind of replay value?

Many people mentioned when it was released that Street Fighter 4 plays better on a PS3 controller. Fighters will probably always favor PS3 (or be closer than other multi-platforms) because of the controllers. Nintendo has been doing D-pads right since 1983. I can't figure out why companies still struggle with it today.

Is your name Nostradamus? Having the best lineup on paper is NO guarantee of critical or commercial success.

By the way, sites like Metacritic exist so people can be informed before buying and avoid the awful games.

To put the good/awful ratio in perspective, consider this:

1 million sales at $60 = pretty solid revenue. You can bet that Sony is paying attention too. If Halo Wars ends up selling 2 million copies, that would mean that the console RTS market is worth at least $120,000,000. Does Sony really want MS to control the entire console RTS market, knowing it is that large? And when, not if, Sony makes an RTS, I'm sure it will have a big name to go along with it as well. You can't tell me PS3 owners wouldn't buy a million copies of "Killzone Wars&q...

If you think Metacritic is not reliable, just do what is done in the olympics to eliminate bias in judged events - drop the highest and lowest scores and average the rest. In the case of Metacritic, you would probably have to drop the 5 highest and 5 lowest because there are so many reviews posted, whereas in the olympics there are usually 8 judges. I'd be willing to wager that most scores would still come out with a variance of no more than 1 point.

The "percentage" arguement would only apply if most gamers walked into a game store, closed their eyes, and randomly grabbed a game for their console. If a PS3 owner did this, they would be more likely than a 360 owner to select a high quality game. But in the real world, it's the number of high quality games that matters most.
