Worldwide sales don't matter in this case - it is a US price drop, and the US is where 360 has a healthy lead over PS3. It would be desperation only if the 360 was in last place, like the Dreamcast was when Sega tried unsuccessfully to gain market share with a price drop. This is similiar to when the PS1 was ahead of both the N64 and Sega Saturn, and Sony dropped the price to $199. It was the end for the Saturn, and it gave the PS1 an insurmountable lead in that console race.
The Arcade can play EVERY Xbox 360 game - that is what most people want to do. It has a wireless controller, HDMI, and enough memory to save games. The only thing you can't do is download from Xbox live - and many people don't care about that. Those that do can buy the 60g - or they can do like I did - buy a used 20g HD for $50, and sell the memory card on Ebay for $20.
The US price drop will be the most important because the 360 has such a large lead over the PS3. There is a HUGE difference between dropping price to climb out of last place, and dropping price from a superior position to increase a lead.
Ease up on Fox News - NBC (the National Barack Channel) has become the worst spin network by far. Wait, weren't we discussing PS3 vs 360?
The worst fanboys are the ones who troll articles about exclusive games that will not even be produced for their system and post mindless "my system is better than yours" junk. I wonder why PS3 fanboys spend so much time on XBOX 360 stories anyway.
There is no way to accurately compare Gears 2 with Killzone. They are different games for different systems, with different characters and different environments and different weapons. What standard could possibly exist for an accurate comparison? Both will be amazing in their own ways.
If PS3 keeps outselling 360 by 20,000 a month in the US, PS3 will finally catch up by about year 2025.
This has collectors item written all over it. EA will probably produce only a few thousand copies, and this will almost certainly be the last game ever release for XBOX. 5 years from now, it could be as rare as college hoops 2k3 for Gamecube, or even Panzer Dragoon Saga for Dreamcast. Final games in a system's lifecycle usually end up as collectors items.
This is a US price cut, and MS dominates the PS3 in the US. Desperation? Hardly. This is more like when Sony cut the price of PS1 when it was in first place, and it cemented its lead for good.
There is no doubt that Dreamcast fans - myself included - became XBOX owners. Outrun 2, Shenmue 2, Sega GT 2002, Panzer Orta, Crazy Taxi 3, House of the dead 3 - there would have undoubtedly been Dreamcast titles had it survived. I was a little surprised that Virtua Fighter 4 was PS2 exclusive though.
Things have always been that way in the games industry. The Sega Genesis, #1 in the US, never caught on in Japan. The PC Engine(Turbografx 16) was #1 in Japan but never caught on anywhere else. The Sega Master System was bigger in Europe than anywhere else. Sega Saturn was also more successful in Europe than the US. It's hard to figure. Some consoles just have more of the games that people in a certain country like to play.
I don't care how many discs it's on - just give us some new tracks!!!
How many times can we race through New York, San Francisco, London, etc. At this point, I'd rather race through the streets of Fargo, North Dakota than San Francisco or New York again, just to get some variety. I'm not just talking about Forza here either - GTA5, PGR4, and Grid are some other racers who seem to recycle tracks far too often.
The XBOX 360 will probably finish in last place worldwide, but in first place in the largest market - North America. The US race is over between PS3 and 360 unless Sony consistently outsells MS by at least 100,000 per month starting immediately, and that is a mathematical impossibility. I'm sure MS doesn't care about worldwide third place because to win in the US would be a huge victory. As the only American company in the race, Japan was all but dead to MS before the 360 even launched, an...
I'd be happy with complete Wii Sports Tennis and Golf games - exactly the same as on the Wii sports disc, but with singles mode and nunchuck player control for tennis, and at least 5 18-hole courses for golf. Throw in career modes and it's a sure winner.
These out of print games will NEVER be re-released. For many games, they haven't been published in 30 years. If there was money to be made from them, and conversely money to be lost from downloading, they would have been re-published by now. These games really have no monetary value - just artistic value. Even some games that are still actively published lose nothing from downloading. I have MAME on my computer, but I still own Namco Museum for XBOX, PSP, and PS1, as well as most other r...
As a lifelong Sega fan, the original XBOX was as close to a Dreamcast 2 as it got. Panzer Dragoon Orta, Outrun 2, Crazy Taxi 3, House of the dead 3, Sega Gt 2002 - these surely would have been Dreamcast games had the system survived. Too bad Virtua Fighter 4 was PS2 exclusive.

No proof is needed. C'mon, everyone on this thread is an expert on European game sales, right? You all live in Europe too, right, so you have first-hand knowledge of what you speak about? I live in the US, and I have no idea about who has sold more consoles in Europe. Maybe Sony, Maybe MS, but really who cares? Worry about where YOU live!
So what? Fortunately, 99% of consumers don't read these forums. They just want good games, regardless of platform. They don't realize that they are contractually obligated to hate whatever console they don't own.
Since this is a US price drop, the last place console you are referring to must be the PS3. Maybe a price drop by Sony could help it compete.
