Even if it's not as good as God of War, who the hell cares? It looks to be a very good game, and it's available NOW. God of War 3 probably won't be out for a year. Are people really content to play NOTHING (in this genre) for a year just because God of War 3 may turn out to be a little better? Kind of crazy to me. Gamers play games. If your most anticipated game is still a year away, you play whatever is available until then. It's not like Ninja Blade is receiving 3's, 4's, and 5's.
Plus, MLB09:The Show has Dustin Pedroia on the cover - that alone makes it better! GO SOX!

MS is just following the Sony business model. Let's take a look back at PS2 vs. Xbox.
PS2 came out 1 year earlier.
PS2 was less powerful than Xbox.
PS2 owners had to buy a $50 8MB memory card to save games - Xbox had 8GB memory built in.
PS2 owners had to buy a $40 network adaptor to play online - Xbox's was built in.
PS2 owners had to buy a $20 adaptor to add 4-player support - Xbox had 4 controller ports built in.
PS2 wa...
Lots of people still play PS2 games. They are not obsolete yet, and many are classics that will never become obsolete. Same can be said for many original Xbox games. Backwards compatibility is important to many gamers.
Also, I'm curious. I read all the time about how people think PS3 will be a "10-year" system. Yet, there seem to be many people who say that they don't even play PS2 games anymore. What is the point of a 10-year system if you will abandon it as ...
I gave up on the Need for Speed series when EA jumped on the "Fast & the Furious" bandwagon and never got off. I've always hoped for a sequel to Need for Speed:Hot Pursuit 2 (the PS2 version), but unfortunately it has never happened. Just give me fast cars on well designed, good looking tracks. Win a race - unlock the next track or car. Is that really so hard?
I'll take the 35 tracks and 300+ cars of Forza 2 over Gran Turismo 5 Prologue's 6 tracks, 70+ cars, and better graphics any day. Racing games are about track and car variety.
Even though the Genesis eventually lost the 16-bit era to the SNES, it is quite clear that the 1989-1996 timeframe was just a battle, and Sega has undoubetdly gone on to win the war. The Genesis had many AMAZING games, and this collection is just a small sample. You could easily fill 2 more collections with high quality Genesis games that are not included on this or other collections. For Example, Sega's Disney games were all top-notch, although they will probably never be released again b...
I still have a Lynx - still use it on occasion. Really had some great games, just not enough. That and 6AA batteries lasting 3 hours - ouch. Got expensive quick.
Where was the "gaming media that wants Sony to fail" 4-6 years ago when PS2 was crushing Xbox by a 6:1 ratio? Some people just cannot accept the fact that PS3 is not outselling the competition - there must be a "conspiracy" behind it.
The media have, in general, always been on Sony's side. When Sony tried to derail the Dreamcast launch by announcing the PS2's specs over a year in advance, just as Dreamcast was about to be released, the media all went along...
Good thing it doesn't need saving.
MLB09 The Show will sell millions for one reason alone - Dustin Pedroia is on the cover! Guaranteed sales! I'm going to buy 2 copies, and I don't even own a PS3.
On topic - baseball games are extremely difficult to get just right - there are SO many nuances, and so much randomness, in baseball. That is why, on any given day, any team can beat any other team, and even the worst teams in the league will win 60-70 games per year. You just don't see that in other sports, espec...
I must have learned it from reading all the PS3 numbers spin that happens on this site.
The 360 is hardly dead in Japan. It is actually quite impressive that after 3 years on the market, it can still, on occasion, be the top selling console. 10,000+ sales per week in a small country like Japan is nothing to be ashamed of. ANYTHING that Microsoft gets from 360 in Japan is just a bonus - they are playing with house money there.
"I wonder how many copies got returned"
If you are so worried about it, just cross your fingers, close your eyes really tight, and repeat this 3 times:
"Please don't let Halo Wars be successful"
Maybe it will come true.
@1.6
You forgot one:
Dreamcast fans, though their console was in last place, spun sales numbers in ways to make it look more successful than it really was.
PS3 fanboys are just launching a pre-emptive strike against Halo Wars to try to put themselves in a no-lose situation. If Killzone 2 outsells Halo Wars, they will say "Told you so - PS3 is better, Killzone 2 rules, 360 is dead". If Halo Wars outsells Killzone 2, or is very close, they will simply say "It doesn't matter. Most people will return it to the store because they didn't know it was an RTS". Then they will mention some random Gamestop store that has used copies...
That math assumes that 360 would have sold ZERO units in Q4 without a price drop.
I kept telling myself that the Tampa Bay Rays were a fluke, and they would fade eventually. Just like the Wii, they never did.
Good list - goes to show you that EVERY system has their share of great games - exclusive and multi-platform. Remember, that is what is important to new buyers - the games already on the market. To a new 360 or PS3 owner, ALL games are new to them. People who post in these forums already have one or more of the current generation consoles, and have probably already played most of these games. But the 50 million or so consumers who have not yet upgraded will care just as much about what ga...
