"Sony on the other hand, doesn't buy exclusives."
I guess Konami, Ubisoft, etc. make PS3 exclusives for free out of the goodness of their hearts.
@Narutone66
"say that they're on their 5th or 6th 360 console..., oh wait, they probably are."
For as reliable as the PS3 supposedly is, there are quite a few people in this thread who have had experience with replacing defective PS3's. Even Ghost of Sparta (1.12)says he knows "people"(i.e. more than 1) who have had to replace their PS3's.
EDIT @ below - You are probably right in saying that most people don't know which console...
Of course, these so called "sales" charts have no numbers on them. For all we know, RE5 for PS3 could have sold 1000 copies, and RE5 for 360 could have sold 995. Without numbers, these charts are meaningless.
You guys make me laugh. You want people to believe that the 360's lead over PS3 is smaller than what is commonly accepted, and your reasoning is "people buy another 360 instead of sending their broken one in for a warranty repair". Yeah, right - like anyone would spend $200-$400 instead of waiting a few weeks for free warranty service.
Also, ALL companies report shipped numbers - groups like NPD track individual retailers and report actual sales to consumers.
@Darkride
"We're seeing the same trend with revenue reported from EA, Take Two, Ubisoft, etc."
Who is the etc.? Out of dozens of multi-platform publishers, those are the only 3 that I know of who reported earnings higher on PS3 than 360.
"What do NPD numbers have to do with anything? I could just as easily pull European and Japan numbers and they'd be just as meaningless"

@krauler
"that reason is in your face and down your throat marketing. Halo keychain or Halo Mountain Dew, anyone?"
The Halo 3 marketing campaign is LONG since over, yet Halo 3 continues to sell extremely well.
So, Sony gets a free pass on overcharging because it's "in the past"? Only a blind fanboy would defend that. It's not the issue of 2001 pricing compared to today's pricing anyway. Sony charged for what the competition offered for free, yet Microsoft is villified for doing the same.
@below - where do you see me defending MS's hard drive prices? I'll be the first to admit they are overpriced. I'm just pointing out the hypocricy.
It's all about the games - pure and simple. People will tolerate the inconveniences of faulty hardware if they like the games better than what the competition offers. It has ALWAYS been that way - this generation is no different.
If the most reliable console always came out on top, then Sega Master System would have beaten the NES, Sega Saturn or N64 would have beaten PS1, and Xbox would have beaten PS2.
How about $50 for 8MB? That's what Sony charged when the PS2 first came out. It's now all the way down to $25. Xbox had internal memory for no extra cost. Yet, 140 million people had no problem paying Sony for the privelege of saving games.
@Jinxtar
Sony didn't advertise that you needed to pay $30-$50 for a memory card for the privilege of saving games on a PS2, while Xbox had a hard drive which allowed you to save games for free. Sony didn't advertise that the PS2 required a $40 adaptor to play online, while the Xbox had a built in ethernet port. You talk like the 360 is the first console that offers optional accessories that are included with the competitions'. It didn't hurt the PS2, it isn't hurting the 360...

@6.12
Read my comment again - I never claimed that one game was "better" than another. I am simply trying to refute the notion that Forza is somehow inferior to GT, as others in this thread have posted:
"GT5 is the only DRIVING EXPERIENCE in this generation"
"GT5 will surpass anything Forza 3 dishes out."
"Forza 2 has GT Physics, LMFAO, brilliant !!"
Metacritic averages dozens o...
Both Forza and GT's driving physics are top notch. There's a good reason Forza 2 has a 91 score on Metacritic (higher than GT5P, and Forza 1 rates higher than GT4 - the last full GT release). The main area where Forza 2 trails GT5 is graphics, but Forza 2 came out in 2007, so it's not that big of an issue to most people - and it still looks very good. I'm expecting Forza 3 to add the extra graphical shine that Forza 2 lacks.
Olbermann is a coward. He NEVER allows anyone on his show who disagrees with him. Think what you may about his rival Bill O'Reilly, at least O'Reilly allows both democrats and republicans on his show to debate issues. Olbermann just sits behind his desk spewing venom while never having the courage to confront any of his targets face to face. His show deserves it's low ratings. Even with democrats now in power, he still can't muster even half of the viewers that FOX gets.

I love playing the Model 2 emulator version of the original Virtual On, and I use a PS2 style dual analog pad on my PC. I think it works extremely well, especially with the shoulder buttons controlling the firepower. The 360 controller would be perfectly acceptable for me to play it on.
When the IGN and 1UP mediocre reviews were posted, the usual PS3 fanboy suspects made sure they were the first to put in their 2 cents because a 360 exclusive scored poorly. Where are they now? You know who you are.
I'm sure Ninja Blade is not a perfect game by any means, but that doesn't mean it's not worth playing. Would you rather play nothing (in this genre) than play a game that receives mixed reviews? Apparently, there are many "gamers" (and I use that term ...
The DS is N64-era technology, the PSP is PS2-era technology. They are miles apart as far as technological capabilities are concerned. I find it nearly impossible to believe that the DS could handle a PSP game, even through the best emulation.
The way I see it, Halo ODST can be developed in one of two ways. They can concentrate on graphics over gameplay, or they can use the tried and true formula that resulted in Halo 3 having a 94 Metascore (quality), 9+ million sales (quantity), and still being a top 20 seller and #1 Xbox live online game 18 months after it's release (longevity).
@Dragun619
How did Sony stop MS from having a great lineup? I mean, how many of those PS3 games you listed will even be out this year (or next)? Besides, MS doesn't start hyping games 2,3, or 4 years in advance. It's a LONG way from a paper lineup to commercial or critical success. You also conveniently forgot to list Forza 3 and Splinter Cell, two of the highest profile 360 exclusives. If you're going to make comparison lists, you should try to be a little more accurate. ...
@brycespitler
Quality does matter - and despite the best efforts of some on N4G to prove otherwise, the 360 does, in fact, have a great number of high quality games. It's sales are no fluke.
@bryce - I said that quality games sell systems, not sales equal quality. And where did I ever say "360 games are better because they sell more"? It seems my comment went over your head.
