There is no way MS will release a new console in 2010, given the rate at which 360 is currently selling. 360 leads PS3 every month, and is selling more year over year while PS3 is declining. MS should release the next console in 2011, six years after the 360 launch. This would be the same as Sony's PS2/PS3 transition. Then, for a few years, they could produce both consoles. By it's 6th, 7th, and 8th years, the 360 will be highly profitable to produce, and those profits can help offset th...

@3.1

Sony is still losing money on every PS3, while MS is making money on each 360. Where on earth do you come to the conclusion that Sony has two price drops ahead, and MS cannot afford even one? You seem to have things backwards.

I suppose an easy explanation could be if Ubisoft's 2008 PS3 exclusive - Haze - was more profitable than their 360 exclusive - Naruto. Makes sense because Haze was heavily hyped, while Naruto is a niche game. All other games were multi-platform. Besides, one or two developers (out of dozens) reporting a 1 percent difference in profits is hardly enough information to draw any meaningful conclusions.

The "Project Gotham" series is the best of the "arcade sim" type of racing game. I hope this is just as fun - I'm looking forward to some new racing games.

"i've noticed that 90% of xbox only users are white american...in the usa..i heard them say they do it support a american company"

So, how do you explain why Americans bought 100 million PS1's and PS2's, and only about 20 million Xbox 1's?

People love to insult Americans for supporting Xbox 360, yet those same Americans have also given Sony (as well as Sega, Nintendo, and Atari) PLENTY of support over the years.

Just when I think I'm out, they pull me back in.

I'd pretty much given up on the "Need for Speed" series, but this one looks pretty good - pure racing with no dumb "underground" storyline. I'm actually getting my hopes up about this one. Hopefully they get it right.

@Darkride

Your "PS3 is selling faster" arguement is seriously flawed because it ignores the 360's best sales year - the most recent. Your arguement is like the Senate recount in Minnesota. Al Franken's camp is basically saying "Let's start recounting the votes until I take the lead, then we'll stop counting, ignore the rest of the votes, and declare me the winner".

It is 100% true that PS3 sold more in it's first two years than Xbox 360 sold...

Exactly - the Entertainment division consists of DOZENS of products besides Xbox 360, and there is no breakdown of each of these products' contribution to profit or loss. Yet, some people here have jumped to the conclusion that it must be Xbox 360 that is losing money.

You say "enjoy it". Well, here has been my 360 experience. Console purchased in 2007. Never had any problem with it. Amazing racing games (my favorite genre) like Forza 2, Project Gotham 3 & 4, Dirt, & Burnout Revenge. Great XBLA games like Ikaruga, Geometry Wars, & Rez. Plus, since I don't have wireless internet, I didn't have to pay extra to have useless wi-fi built in to my console.

I've enjoyed nearly every minute of my 360 gaming experience, as ...

So, if Sony were to announce that they had made a deal to make "Gears of War 3" multi-platform, you would just shrug it off as "another multi-platform announcement"?

Look at what a big deal was made here when "Ninja Gaiden 2" was announced for the PS3 after being a 360 exclusive.

Or, I suppose, you could take Sony's PR advice and "get a second job". E74 is covered for 3 years, just like RROD. I've worked a lot of retail, and trust me, getting people to part with even a penny more than they have to is excruciating.

By the way, E74 and Jasper aren't exactly household terms. I'd be willing to bet that if you walked up to some random customers in Gamestop, or someone looking at games in Wal-Mart or Target, and asked them what E74 of Jasper mean...

@GWAVE 1.9

The first 2 links are for 2001 and 1999 - obviously you are too ignorant to realize that the 360 did not even exist back then. No point in even looking at the rest.

EDIT - even after reading the others, there is NOTHING in any of those articles to suport your opinion of "stuffing" retailers with extra product. You're just a PS3 fanboy trying desperately to create a controversy where one clearly does not exist.

"It's a documented fact that Microsoft has "stuffed" retailers with its products before, and that includes the Xbox 360"

I'd like to see a link to that mysterious "document" that you refer to, as well as claims that Sony reports sold, not shipped numbers in their quarterly reports.

EDIT @ BlazinProphet - You are 100% right. Whether it's game consoles, TV's, or microwave ovens, manufacturers always report shipments. Groups like NPD ...

There is a big difference in replacing a $10 toaster and a $300-$400 game console. I seriously doubt, especially in this economy, that there are too many people who can afford to just buy a new 360 instead of getting a free warranty repair. This is just an excuse PS3 supporters use to try to mitigate the 360's numbers.

6259d ago 1 agree2 disagreeView comment

Impressive growth year by year, especially so far in 2009. The 360's future is looking pretty bright. More consoles = more game sales = more money for game developers = more new games = more choice for gamers. Everybody wins.
