Lots of hate, but still no link to any survey results. I guess, as usual, the people who have the biggest problem with the 360 are the people who don't actually own one.
@stay high
When the PS3's price is dropped, regardless of how many consoles sell each month, 360 fans will simply reverse the line that PS3 fans love to use:
"I expected it to sell more than that"
@raztad
If it's true that PS3 sales are low due to anticipation of upcoming price drops, that bodes well for MS, because 360 sales have not been affected by the hype. The price drop will help PS3, but will not hurt 360. If 200,0...
@2.3
You are 100% right - it's all about the games, not the power. Clearly, people prefer 360's games even though PS3 has more power and built-in features. Just like PS2 beat Xbox.
@5.1
Unless you can provide a link to show that ALL 360's sold are the $199, any claim that 360 is half the price of PS3 is MEANINGLESS, considering there are also $299 and $399 versions.
Just like the public didn't realize that the Xbox was technologically superior to PS2, both in terms of built-in features and power. Marketing had a lot to do with that as well.
I'd buy a PS3 because I already have a 360.
"most people who have the Arcade suffer from buyers remorse."
Most??? I'd like to know where his numbers come from. I've never seen such a survey. Without numbers to back up such a ridiculuos claim, this article has ZERO credibility.
I agree that the TG-16 was overshadowed at it's release by NES & Genesis. Fortunately, it has aged very well. It's shooters are still great, even by todays standards (Blazing Lazers, Raiden, & Super Star Soldier are some of my favorites). Bonk's Adventure deserved a bigger audience, as did Alien Crush & Devil's Crush.
@Tomkar - I disagreed with you, and here are my reasons:
Your arguement about "standards" doesn't hold water for one simple reason. If, as you say, standards are higher now than they were 2 years ago, why do millions of people still choose Halo 3 today - even in the face of supposedly "better" competition?
Clearly, despite the best efforts of fans of opposing consoles, Halo 3 is deserving of it's critical and commercial success.
The only place that the 360 fails is in the (very small) minds of people like you.
"3 Install Base
- For the next year maybe. What about at the end of the generation? What about 2 years from now? Hardly an argument there."
No arguement there? Why, because we should keep waiting to see if PS3 ever catches up?
In that case, lets look at some of your other arguements.
-PS3 controller is better. Let's wait and see if MS makes a better one in the next year or two, or by the end of the generation.
-Onl...
Funny how the people who have the biggest problems with a list of 10 reasons to own a 360 are the people who don't actually own one. Your opinions on the subject are completely irrelevant.
The sad thing is that if he switched "PS3" & "360", his bubbles would be doubled. Look at some of the other moronic nonsense on this thread and you'll see what I mean.
#13 for example - more agrees than disagrees. Is that any worse? I'm not surprised though - par for the course on N4G.
How about "restart race"? Is that cheating too? Restarting is nothing more than rewinding to the beginning.
"$300 for console/ $90 for wifi(used to be $100) controller $40/ A game $60 / xbox live year subscription $50 = $540"
So, 360 is really more expensive than a PS3. Tomorrow, when NPD numbers come out, the arguement will revert to:
"Of course 360 sells more - it's HALF the price"
To those who complain about Forza's "rewind" feature:
Have you ever paused a race (I'm talking ANY racing game here) and selected "restart race"? Of course you have - we all have. You're lying if you say you haven't. That's NO different than "race rewind". When you restart, you're simply rewinding the race to the beginning. ALL racing games (including GT) have this feature. Forza's rewind simply allows you to go back partially instead of full...
Actually, the 360 is more expensive than the Wii. According to NPD, the average selling price of a 360 is $270, which - last time I checked - is more than $250. Not to mention, it was being argued as recently as YESTERDAY by PS3 fans that the 360 is really more expensive than the PS3. But, that's typical of the PS3 camp - the 360 is half the price when it suits one arguement - it's more expensive when it suits another.
@greywulf - intersesting statement about where to go for...
You're right - it won't stop Sony from doing it's PS3 price cuts. Luckily for MS, the 360 is selling faster than the PS3, so stopping Sony's PS3 sales is a non-issue. Besides, nobody has a crystal ball clear enough to predict what results either move will have.
So, today the 360 is again more expensive than a PS3. Next week, when NPD sales numbers come out, the arguement will revert to "of course 360 sells more - it's HALF the price of PS3". Gotta love N4G!
MS has nothing to worry about. It's now been almost a full year since the 360 price drops, and sales have not slowed. Usually, when a big price cut happens, sales spike for a few months then go back to previous levels. That hasn't happened with 360 - sales have remained high for the past year.
PS3 sales slowed significantly last month, probably in anticipation of it's price cut. However, 360 sales didn't slow. If a PS3 price cut was going to affect 360, then 360's sales sh...
