People need to remember that the video game industry was around long before Sony arrived, and it will be around long after Sony is gone.

It's pretty clear that any market share Sony gains from the price drop and slim launch won't come at MS's expense. 360 sales remain steady despite the knowledge of the impending PS3 price cut & slim launch.

I have fond memories of the "golden age" consoles (pre-NES). Those games really don't hold up well today - just not enough system power to duplicate the arcade experience. Atari 2600 & Colecovision were my favorites.
The TurboGrafx 16 was dead on arrival in the US, but it deserved better. Fortunately, it has aged very well, and it's inclusion on Wii Virtual Console is a definite plus as new gamers can experience some really great games.

Here's a comment - Colecovision was a giant leap in quality over the consoles at the time - I mean HUGE. Games literally went from bleeps and blips to arcade quality overnight. You don't see anything like that these days, even in the current generation.
