A discount only 2 weeks after the price drop??
Desperation at it's finest.
Fortunately, most of those losers have been banished to the open zone.
So, I guess there should be NO excuses if PS3 doesn't crush MS by at least 2:1 starting IMMEDIATELY. The price drop happened on 8/18, and the slim was released on 8/25. According to most people here on N4G, stores have "stacks" of PS3 slims in stock, so the "it's sold out everywhere" excuse won't work. Plus, the excuse for poor July PS3 sales was "everyone was waiting for the August price drop".
Not to mention, between 8/18 and 8/29, the 120GB P...
You say that all of those games came out in the first year, then you criticize the 360 because it's "flagship" title (Halo) didn't come out for 2 years. None of those PS3 games are "flagship" titles either. They may be good games, but as far as "killer app" system-selling games, nothing on your list compares to Halo 3.
Gran Turismo has always been Sony's flagship title, and the PS3 will be at least 3 years old before the full game is released.

What did you think of Americans when they bought 100 million PS1's and PS2's?
@Obama
"Ever since MS entered the gaming world, the world has became crazier. That's all I am going to say."
It only seems crazier because of the internet and sites like N4G. The PS3 vs. Xbox 360 battle pales in comparison to the Sega Genesis vs. SNES battle.
There's a good reason for it too. Back then, nearly all games were exclusive to one console or the other - maybe 10-20% were multi-platform. There was no shartage of games to argu...
Simple. Whichever one hae more GAMES that you want to play.
"It seems people go to the store and don't find a PS3, so they don't hesitate to buy a 360 instead."
Interesting theory. People are so excited about the PS3 price drop that they buy a 360 to hold them over for a week.
What's wrong with this picture? The 360 is supposed to be dead in Japan, yet PS3 fans are falling all over themselves trying to come up with excuses for the 360's good japanese sales.
EDIT - interesting. Guess there's no ...
Even funnier to see scared PS3 fanboys like you trolling 360 news.
@greywulf
"Gran Turismo's demo sold more than F2.
its going to be funny to see turn10's reaction to GT5 retail."
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The Gran Turismo series has always defined racing on the Playstation brand. On the other hand, the Xbox 360 has never been defined by just one racing game. It has Forza 2, Project Gotham Racing 3&4, & Race Pro, plus Forza 3 on the way. Therefore, no one game will constitute a bulk...
Is the 160gb PS3 the primary, best selling model? No, just as the 360 Elite is NOT the primary, best selling 360 model. $600 - $300 is 50%, regardless of how you try to spin it. The 60gb launch PS3 outsold the 20GB model by around 4:1. I have never seen newer numbers, but I'll bet the current 80GB model significantly outsells the 160GB model. Therefore, it is a valid comparison to compare the best selling versions of each.
I will concede your point about the Elite's 40% dr...
Actually, now that the slim has officialy launched a week early, and reports here on N4G say that reatilers have stacks of them available for sale, there really should be no excuse for Sony to sell less than MS starting immediately.
Of course, we all know there will still be excuses - it's already started.
EDIT - interesting that a 360 article is full of PS3 fanboy morons, yet I'm the one who is frowned upon for my rebuttals. Sarcasm, gamingisnotacrime, are you...
Once the numbers come out, it will just be more excuses from the PS3 crowd. If 360 sells more than PS3 in August, the excuses will be "It was out of stock everywhere" and "everyone was waiting for the slim" - even though the excuse for the poor July numbers was "nobody bought one because they were waiting for the August price drop".
@saaking
Sure - if you twist the numbers by comparing the launch pro with the current arcade. Did you even read my post? Can you tell an apple from an orange?
I could use your logic and say that the 360 is the same price today as it was at launch. After all, the launch core system was $299, the current pro system is $299 as well
The roster of scared PS3 fanboys grows every day. Pretty pathetic - trolling EVERY 360 article BEGGING people to pick PS3 over 360.
After 3 3/4 years on the market, the Xbox 360's primary SKU (pro)is $299, 25% lower than it's launch price of $399. The secondary SKU (core, now arcade) is $199, 33% lower than it's launch price of $299.
On the other hand, the PS3's primary SKU is now $299, HALF it's launch price in less than 3 years - and it's already needed a redesign. That kind of rapid price cutting and hardware revision is unprecedented in console history.
You have a pretty distorted view ...
Don't you guys realize that it's OK to have poor reliability (3X standard) as long as you can point to a competitor and say "they're worse".
That guy is pretty funny - he did the Geico "have the gecko do the robot" commercial. One of my favorites. I liked the MLB 09 ad too - mostly because of Dustin Pedroia.
Let me get this straight. If a Sony first-party developer talks smack about 360, he is defended by nearly everyone on N4G..
If a MS first party developer (Turn 10) talks smack about PS3, he is ridiculed.
Just checking, because I recall a lot of anger directed at Turn 10, and how developers should just keep their mouths shut about the competition.
EDIT @ Blaze - I know it's a futile effort to try to revoke the N4G double standard.
Yeah, Saaking is definitely the most delusional fanboy who is still allowed to post in the gamer zone, followed closely by "flatulentghost". I don't know why - he's not even a gamer - all he does is talk trash about 360.
This site gets worse and worse every day. Look at todays Xbox 360 articles - the open zone comments outnumber the gamer zone comments because of morons like Saaking, Peter North, and all the other multi-account idiots. And to think, there are some ...
