MS doesn't need to do anything more right now. Even in the face of stiff competition from the $299 PS3 slim, the 360 still continues to sell more consoles month over month and year over year.
MS would only need to take more drastic measures if 360 sales start SLOWING, which is clearly not the case.
So, I guess when official sales number come out, there will be no more PS3 excuses.

In a way, yes it does. Higher sales equals more profit for the developer. More money means more resources, as well as having the means to hire the top game designers that a lower-funded operation might not be able to afford.

With MS offering games on demand, they could conceivably offer games for download that would otherwise be multi-disc at retail. This would eliminate disc-switching, and the 7gb disc limit would be a moot point.
A 250gb hard drive would be perfect for that very scenario.
