Realistic physics in games will never catch on. Lara Croft would keep falling over forwards.

Well, not *useless*. If they know the hash used, they can take a dictionary, hash the words, and see if the output matches any of the passwords.

The moral: don't use words for your important passwords. Use strings of letters and numbers.

You don't need to memorize 100 different passwords. For the critical stuff like email addresses - which are used to validate other things - you use different (and strong) passwords.

Accounts that can access money get different passwords, too.

Forums and stuff you don't care about can have a common password.

Plus, on my phone I have a 'password wallet'. I remember one strong password, and it encrypts and stored all the other on...

I'm pretty much a single-player gamer, with maybe some local co-op... so the PSN being down hasn't affected me much. Makes it slower to get into Netflix, mostly.

BTW, I'm not claiming it's a virtue on my part. I'm basically a target or comic relief when it comes to multiplayer stuff. :)

@cjflora - Calm down, there's plenty of blame to go around. Sony really did make a stupid, basic error. (Other companies have, too - Motorola with the Droid series, for example.)

And failoverflow & geohot have had nothing to do with Anonymous' attack on Sony a couple weeks ago, nor is there any indication they have anything to do with the current fiasco.

Cryptography - both inventing *and* breaking encryption - is a tool. It's not good or bad,...

@OneSneakyMofo - No wonder you only have one bubble.

The master key was not "STOLEN from a factory somewhere". Sony made a mistake in their cryptography, not randomizing it enough. Failoverflow and others were able to take multiple signed programs and reverse-engineer the master key from those signatures.

Well, those who have it can still work on missions. Nobody can publish 'em, though.

Weird that you said the exact same thing four minutes before... http://n4g.com/news/749008/...

It was intentional. I have a wife, too. I'm just saying, there *are* a few drawbacks to go along with the benefits.

I'm so frustrated because I haven't had much time to play with this yet. But I've managed to get a good start on a mission. I just want a couple straight hours with the thing... but I have kids.

Being able to have a separate story didn't save the Iron Man games, unfortunately.

I'm not religious, but *some* religious people are very focused on family-friendly issue. I have kids, I can understand where they're coming from.

Note, they aren't asking to *eliminate* cuss words; just having an *option* to filter them out. See, e.g., Brutal Legend for an example of this done well. (It's in the demo, you don't even have to buy the game.)

Not all kids are restrained enough to know when not to imitate swear words...

Oddly enough, I seem to see your name posting on every Infamous 2 article, though. You act so aloof, so chill, but inside... admit it, your little heart's all aflutter, right? You just wish I2 would notice you, and maybe ask for your number. You two could totally go steady! But no, I2 just wants to hang out with people who own PS3s...

:)

Got mine, played a little this morning before work. I'm happy. Of course,it came with an NDA so I can't brag too much. But I expect to be busy for a while...

Hope I get in the beta. I Platinumed I1 ages ago and I'm in PS+; hope that helps my odds. Got a few ideas for missions - wonder if you can have separate types in the same mission?

Or maybe, if you're clever, you can make multiple simpler missions... and the end of one mission happens to be close to the start of another...

I've been working at the Sly Collection. Platinumed Sly 1, working on Sly 2. I can see what Sucker Punch did there. They got some good core gameplay in Sly 1, then iterated it for Sly 2 - went from a linear game to a more hub/mission based model, let you play as different characters, etc.

They've proven they can take a good game and make it better. Infamous was a *very* good game, and damn if it doesn't look like they're making I2 great.

Let's take it step by step. (1) Kessler got his powers either at the same age Cole did, or else later. (2) Sometime *after* that - years after, he had kids - the Beast arose, and Kessler fled. (3) Then, older than Cole, he jumped back in time. So far back Alden was a child. Before Cole was born. (4) Then he lived long enough for Alden to be an old man.

So... yeah, Kessler's old.

But he's also Cole. If having powers 'burns out' Cole faster,...

5548d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

I'm trying to say that if powers made Cole age or die faster, Kessler wouldn't have lived that long.

5549d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

@Focker420 - Well, Kessler looked bad at the end of the first game... but bear in mind he was older than Cole when he kicked Alden out of the First Sons when he was a kid, and in inFamous, Alden was an old man.

*New* powers might kill him... but if so, it's such a cliche. He'll "die", then come back for inFamous 3 with even more power.

Don't see how it can work too well without a wheel controller.
