Realistic physics in games will never catch on. Lara Croft would keep falling over forwards.

The enemies are crack shots in I1, no question. Keep going, at least until you earn some grenades. By then you'll be hooked...

The first inFamous is a lot of fun, but a couple bits of advice. First, don't try side missions until you unlock the grenade power.

Second, I found it lagged just a little about halfway through the second island. Play past that, and it picks up again.

Also note that Sucker Punch has a history of continual refinement. The first Sly was good, but Sly 2 was *much* better. (Got the Sly collection for xmas, I speak from experience.) I'm in the I2 beta, and...

Nah, only if you go for the Hannah Montana trophies are you *really* addicted.

Yes, coolasj, I'm quite sure. And I've done real-time programming for industrial robots, among other things, so I understand time constraints in a tight loop. You already have the branch to set the flag for the skill point; all you have to do, in the same block, is call the function that grants trophies, too.

Let me put it this way: if their code doesn't make this trivial, then it is a miracle they managed to release a game at all.

Again, *testing...

But RFOM has 'skill points' built in already! Automatic trophies. All they have to do is make it so, when you earn a skill point, they make the call to the API that grants trophies.

Coding something like that is just not hard. Period. Should be doable in a week, assuming their code is at all sane.

Now, *testing* that would be time-consuming and tedious - make sure you haven't broken anything, etc. I can understand them not wanting to devote a *tes...

According to the article, you don't have to get *all* the shards, getting 50% of them gets you some extra energy.

Maybe there's other rewards the article doesn't list for the Platinum or something, but it doesn't look like you need the plat to get all the I2 rewards.

It don't get a big gaming budget. The Hero Edition is my anniversary and Father's Day present. After I get home from work on the 7th, the big TV is *mine*!

Everything we've seen so far is.

I'm curious, though - what will you do if it's not?

Part of the Cell - the "Power Processing Unit" or "PPU" - is a more-or-less standard Power RISC CPU. I was talking about making that part dual-core.

I'm sure the interface from two PPUs to the SPUs would be tricky, but considering that the other consoles are going to have multiple cores, it might make porting multi-threaded code a bit simpler.

5504d ago 3 agree0 disagreeView comment

How about a faster Cell, with maybe a dual-core PPU and some extra SPUs?

PS3 BC would be fairly trivial, but combined with an updated GPU it'd be plenty powerful for next-gen games. Still a different architecture from other consoles, but by now developers have a handle on that architecture...

@kikizoo - Let's not get crazy. You surely do "see that kind of game and graphics" on PCs. It doesn't take away from Sucker Punch's accomplishments to acknowledge that PC hardware has advanced since the PS3 came out! Sheesh!

No dice at my Target. The clerks were only doing the $60 card on one bundle, and they were out of that anyway. And none of the blu-rays the clerk scanned for me popped out any $100 coupons.

For an open-world game, it's pretty good. They've gotten better at level-of-detail stuff, too. They only place I really notice it is with trees.

I don't grasp 'unboxings' either. I just looked to see a picture of the bag that comes with it - turns out it's pretty much full-sized, which is cool.

So you get the gift cards, but you can't use them toward the purchase? You have to buy other things?

No worries for me, then. We get enough stuff at target (wife and kids, y'know) that it's no hardship. I'll be picking one of these up tonight, no question.

Isn't this sort of thing against the Beta user agreement? :)

5506d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

That's mind-bogglingly stupid math.

First off, I'm not aware of *any* confirmed cases of card data stolen in the hack actually being used; it was encrypted, so it's not clear anyone really lost anything that way.

Secondly, Sony themselves said that there were 77 million accounts, but only about 10 million credit cards.

I really liked inFamous - my first pre-order, my first platinum. I've plunked down for the Hero edition of inFamous 2, and I'm making missions in the beta.

But, uh, wow...

He's a Prototype fan, and he bought into the 'inFamous vs. Prototype' war and never let go. Apparently, in his mind, Prototype can't be any good unless inFamous sucks.

I'm sure Sucker Punch wants as much testing as they can get, but honestly the mission stuff is pretty polished already. They'll probably get it out on time.
