Reflows work... for a while. My Fat PS3 died the day after Christmas last year, and I reflowed it several times to keep it going for a few months until my birthday, and a new PS3 slim.
I kept the old one going a bit longer, but the last reflow - number 9 - failed. I'm considering getting it re-balled; depends on the cost. It was nice having an extra in the bedroom upstairs.
Yeah, the whole *point* of a virtual space is that you can do things you can't in reality. Adding 'scarcity' is just *stupid*.
If you have problems showing too many instances at once, there are ways around it. For example, you walk up to a game, and it 'rotates' into the wall, exposing a new empty space for someone else to take up.
Well... it has been a venue in search of a reason to exist. I've played around in Home a bit, and it's interesting for a while, but...
I think Penny Arcade said it best: http://www.penny-arcade.com...
SP took all the complaints about the first game and addressed every single one - powers, mission variety, environment variety, similar paths for both "karmas", etc. They also polished the graphics and AI, *and* added level editing.
They should have had some killer Move apps lined up from the start. My boys enjoy Sports Champions sometimes, and the little ones like EyePet, but beyond that...
My 9-year-old son was very excited to pick one up yesterday. (Target dropped the price early, following Walmart's lead.) He saved up chore money and birthday money for it.
I only got a few minutes with the thing, but it was... all right. I think he'll be happy with it.
NathanExplosion - "Smaller boobs" is more realistic *in an athlete*.
Imagine a conversation between Gordon Freeman and Chell...
Damn this game has been fun.
My kid was really happy to hear about the price cut - he's very excited to take all his upcoming birthday money and his saved chore money and buy a 3DS.
Nintendo may no longer be printing money like they were with the Wii, but speculation about their *demise* is, um... premature.
Old dungeon-crawling games like Rogue would procedurally generate new dungeon levels on the fly.
Sure seems to me that could be applied to a zombie apocalypse. You're in a city, and each new block is randomly generated; streets, buildings, where supplies and zombies are... endless replay value.
Yes! Vehicles were really limited in the beta, some things I wanted to do were flat impossible. Always nice to have a few extra tricks in the bag.
For PC games that come on physical media, sure. I have small kids around, I don't dare risk the DVD falling into their hands. I always apply a disc crack so I can keep the install media on a high shelf.
But I pay for the game first.
Steam, on the other hand, hasn't forbidden anything I feel like doing so far. So no need to crack it.
With consoles, it's a bit nore annoying, but I tend to do longer sessions with a console so the pri...
The bag isn't particularly cheap. I thought it was a decent little bonus, though I've only used it once so far. The rest of it I didn't care about... but the super voucher is nice, all the skins and extra powers and stuff. If that appeals to you, the Hero Edition is worth getting.
On the other hand, in a year or so all those extras will be a free download off PSN. That's what they did with the I1 pre-order bonuses, and I assume it'll be the same here.
Now that I've made it through the campaigns sufficiently, I'm looking forward to playing more with UGC, and seeing what other people come up with.
One thing I found funny during the beta was how many "Kill Zeke" missions there were. Lotta people hated the guy.
I agree that I2 tied things up pretty neatly. An I3 would seem tacked-on.
I did agree with the article, though, that you should have had at least an alpha rocket from the beginning.

According to what I've seen, they aimed for AAA but decided marketing would be too expensive/hard. So they're selling this one 'at cost' to drum up interest for a full-price sequel...
That's about where I am with I2. Not perfect, but a step up from the first in every way... and the original was awfully damn fun.
