Next gen consoles are touted to set the standard in graphical quality and yet they need to copy a lot of stuff from the PC in order to do so.
And yet Blizzard find it's hard to give Diablo 3's PC fans the same treatment as the console versions. Specifically the direct control scheme thanks to the controller. They could just easily adjust those codes for the PC fans but instead they don't. We see Blizzard telling everyone that the direct controls are much more fun than the PC's click fest while in contrast Bastion and Torchlight developers can make their games use multiple types of control scheme across several platf...
I have 99 games in my Steam library and so far I have completed 19 of them. And there are also those other non-Steam games.
Now, another Steam Sale is looming...
For me it's the freedom that the mouse provides.
Sometimes I felt I was cheating when using the controller, especially in FPSes. I've used the 360 controller to play Borderlands 2 a lot and most the time I don't think it was me who actually doing the aiming or racking up those countless headshots.
The mouse is also horribly underused in a lot of third person action games. The mouse allows you to freely choose targets quickly instead of tirelessly ...
Same here. I heard that Mercer actually tried to help get rid of the virus after the first game (explained in some comics). After his questionable actions in New York I would've liked it if he was looking for some sort of redemption and we to continue with that in the sequel. Instead he became a fully-fledged , master race obsessed villain because he was betrayed by a woman.
They pushed us to like the 2nd guy but it's hard to care for the father-daugther angle when th...
Hardly a revelation. That's pretty much what Windows 8 was designed for - an all encompassing platform that connects all Microsoft hardware/products. They stressed heavily on that feature when they were developing Windows 8 although sadly overshadowed by the Metro UI.
From what MS had done over the years...it's still not a pretty picture for the PC gamers. All the hardcore AAA MS games will undoubtedly be exclusively on the X box One while MS will only offer F2Ps and ...
@Tsar4ever
It should be a win for all but in the world of exclusivity, hardware or software wise, it's not that clear cut. There have been quite a number of articles after the PS4 first announcement that seem to give off the vibe that next gen multiplatform games will only give AMD the advantage while Nvidia will be spending a lot of time playing catch up with optimization.
It would be ideal for everyone in the industry to think about the other guys but ...
Well what game have I have been playing non stop for over a week on my slightly above average gaming desktop and laptop?
FTL: Faster Than Light.
Really, I don't know why the console fans kept thinking that PC gamers only care about graphic, NOT gameplay, when the PC helped the indie industry (not many of them have The Last of Us quality or budget) thriving all these years. There might not be millions of super high end PCs out there but there are millions o...
I'm not doubting AMD gives us more performance for your buck. A lot of people stand by that claim so it's got to be true. I've own a couple of AMD cards and made my own PCs so I should know. And yet, AMD still struggled while Nvidia, who is pumping out much more expensive cards, still dominates.
Now, came along next gen with AMD as the main hardware maker and suddenly everyone shouting Nvidia is dead! Remember the days when everyone shouted the "PC gaming is...
I don't know...MS and Sony chose AMD simply because Nvidia offered a much higher price for their hardware. AMD was more than willing to offer a much lower price because things were not looking too good for it in the PC sector. I mean the article itself has a link talking about how AMD is struggling last year.
Nvidia is running to its banks to make more better hardware for the PC users.
Sounds like what online co-op in a lot of current games have been doing for years.
@Caffo01
that's only EA, where are other publishers?
What about Blizzard and WoW? What about Valve and it's elusive revenue estimates. They don't even make tons of game every year and yet they are making their own console.
Why don't you guys look up on other articles, outside N4G, from other sources before tearing apart papashango's link? They show a much bigger picture than that one link.
PC fans showed links to support their claims. Console fans brutally refute their claims with...NO links of their own to counter those claims.
Hmmm...funny...
In an earlier article about Steam might considering a borrowing feature, I saw this comment:
"It's great when Steam does it... but MS is evil for doing it."
Seeing some of the comments in this article, I thought of this:
"It's great when Sony does it... but MS is evil for doing it."
Yes, Steam is a DRM but I think wishingW3L meant that Steam doesn't impose any other DRMs unless publishers want to. Like what MS is doing with X Box One: putting a number of DRMs on top of one other (online activation, 24-hour check ups, Kinect-based security).
Valve has a nice thing going with Steam so if they add the borrow feature without adding any new stringent restrictions then it's OK. MS on the other hand gave everyone a very bad taste of things to come from ...
Serious Sam BFG has a split screen coop, which kinda surprised me. Not only that it has the most comprehensive graphics options I've ever seen.
There was a lot of noise about 2K's decision to add a lot of options to Borderlands 2 (which they used as selling point) but no one seem to noticed or commend Serious Sam BFG's options.
So...what about the millions of MMO players out there? Don't they count as PC gamers as well?
CDP just keep giving away stuff for. In a couple of days a Witcher 2 mod will released and I'm excited over it. Why?
-It's a mod by CDP's own gameplay director.
-It's supposed to revamp the whole combat system.
-It's a mod instead of them calling it a DLC (while EA limited the Crysuit 2.0 controls exclusively for the 360 version of Crysis and Blizzard will give console gamers exclusively the direct control system for console versions of Dia...
As opposed to selling The Witcher 3 on X Box One and PS4? They're pretty much physical DRMs.
Yes, it's obviously a marketing ploy. Still, Crysis was released for the 360 and the console fans get to play with Crysuit 2.0 control while the original PC Crysis fans got nothing.
If this tactic is lucrative enough for Blizzard then it might not want to give PC fans the same treatment. What happens if this control based exclusivity (controller only for console versions, click fest only for PC version) become Blizzard's next gen way of doing business? No one successf...
